Fourth Wing READALONG DAY 3

Fascinating. You look all frail and breakable, but you’re really a violent little thing, aren’t you? – Fourth Wing page 94

The quote at the start of Chapter 5 reveals a softer side to General Sorrengail. Do you think that event Violet might not know everything about her mother and mother’s choices? Do you believe that General Sorrengail knew what she was doing when she forced her daughter to join the Riders Quadrant?

Battle brief is the most important class of every day. It is here where riders learn about strategies and about their enemies. It is also here where we as readers learn what Navarre is up against. In this chapter, we are introduced to the Griffins and the politics of the territories surrounding Navarre. Would you rather learn to ride a dragon or a griffin?

In Chapter 6, we learn that Mira has left Violet the Book of Brennan. Otherwise known as Brennan’s old journal. The journal is filled with advice on how to survive the Riders Quadrant. What is one piece of advice you wish you were told when you were in your 20s or what is a piece of advice that has helped you?

I think that general Sorrengail loves her children as best she can in the dynamic of the world she lives in, she sees the strength in her daughter and she feels for other children, all while still needing to be the general.

I’m a dragon girlie, love a good firebreathing beast.

Some good advice I wish I got in my early twenties would be that, everything doesn’t need to happen immediately. You don’t need to have all the answers, and make good money and buy a house and get married and do all these major life milestones in your 20’s to be accomplished. It’s okay to not feel like the adult, to feel young, to not know what your goals and dreams are. You’ll get there eventually.

I think parents want to believe that they do what’s best for their children at any given time.

I’d rather ride a dragon but Griffins are magical! But I think dragons are top of the food chain! I really liked how V encouraged R to ask the question and then allow her to answer. That was an important moment for their friendship. They’d make each other better. Is the message I received!

Be yourself, everybody else is already taken.

Chapter 5 – 7: I think Violet’s mother wants the best for her and even though we don’t see her motives right now, I believe we will learn to see what they are in due coarse. Her mother knows just how strong she actually is but she wants Violet to learn for herself how strong she can be both mentally and physically with the correct training.

100% would love to learn to ride a dragon! Lol can you imagine rocking up to work on one?!😂

One piece of advice that I would tell my younger self, would be to not worry about what people think of you. No matter what you will be judged. At the end of the day, the only person’s opinion of you that matters is your own.

    • Initially I disliked Violet’s mother. She seemed cold and unsupportive but again there are layers to every person and I suspected the same with her mother. Violet and Basgiath don’t know the whole truth about General Sorrengail and the rebellion. As for making Violet join the riders quadrant, perhaps her mother feels Violet has potential and is destined for more.

    • I’d definitely pick a dragon!

    • Don’t beat yourself up, growth takes time, trust in that.

The general I think hides more than she let’s on.

    A dragon for sure!

I wish I was told to be braver and take more risks and learn to be more independent.

My mom’s best advice was , always ask – it’s either yes or no and neither will be the end of the world.

I do believe General Sorrengail knew what she was doing when she forced Violet to join the Riders Quadrant, and I believe she knows much more than she’s letting on, which makes me wonder just how much of an integral part her mother will play in this series!

I’d personally like to learn to ride a dragon, especially if I could bond with one and be able to communicate with them!

I wish someone had told me that mistakes happen, that nothing in life is perfect and that even when it feels like my whole world is crumbling beneath my feet, I am strong and can get through anything. I also wish someone had told me to ask for help once in a while when ife gets tough. There’s nothing wrong with asking for advice or help when you need it. Not everything has to be done, and faced, alone.

I believe that General Sorrengail knew what she was doing. Even though it seems cruel, she pushed Violet to realize that Violet does have the ability to do it in the Riders Quadrant. This is the case of being in your comfort zone and that one situation or person pushing you to try something new.

I would love to ride a dragon. I always imagine Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon.

I would tell my younger self that you can get through it. You will make it. Whatever is thrown your way, you will get through it.

I don’t think that Violet knows everything about her mother. Not only because they aren’t close but her mother sent her to join the Rider’s Quandry knowing that the kids of the people she killed will be there. Who knows what else she’s hiding…

I would choose a dragon! They are superior, not only can they channel more power than Gryphon’s but they can also fly at higher altitudes, which is helpful in battle.

Advice: it is okay to still be figuring life out.
