Violet has dragons but that does not mean things are going to get easier. The power dynamics have shifted, and training is about to get serious. Did you also have a chuckle when you read about Jack Barlowe being pushed out of his seat at breakfast? What do you make of the older riders sitting with the first-year riders for breakfast?
Among new classes like flight training, Violet also has a new chore in the morning. She has now been tasked with visiting the Archive and returning any books that were borrowed. It is a bittersweet moment for Violet but when Andarna asks her about her feelings, Violet says that “it’s easy [to love a second home] when the second home is the tight one” pg 224. Do you agree with Violet?
In Chapter Eighteen, we finally see Violet stand up to Dain and his constant doubt in her abilities. She deserves a round of applause for it. This ties in with Jesinia said to Violet about her being different. What do you think about the changes Violet has gone through?

I think bonding dragons is a major shift in the story as a whole, we get more characters and a major change in power dynamics that’s quite comical to read about. I think the older riders sitting with our crew was at least partially because of Xaden.
I do agree with Violet, growing up you sometimes realise just because you didn’t plan for something, sometimes it’s still the right path for you and I love her love for this journey that she’s on.
You see Violet grow, not just physically, but who she is at her core evolves. Once again something that happens as you “grow up”. This journey she’s been on has allowed her to view herself in a different way and grow accordingly and she’s been put in an environment that allows her to grow into herself and everything she thought she could never be.

Chapter 17-18: I actually quite liked the fact that the older riders chose to sit with the first years because it shows that they accept and respect them for making it through threshing.
I really love the journey that Violet is on, her first home as a scribe was where she found comfort but her new home as a rider is where she is showing so much character growth. I am so freaking proud of Violet for finally standing up for herself and believing in herself!

• Sorta yeah and I think its cool that the older riders hangout with first year riders.
• I think Violet does have a point. Eventually you learn to love your new home if its meant for you and feels like the place you were meant to be but you are allowed to miss your first home of course.
• Violet definitely has experienced a lot of changes and growth. She’s developing more confidence that’s for sure and as she should.

I am so glad that Jack has been knocked a peg! Gosh what’s a dude.
I think it’s possible to have more than one home at a time. For me wherever you find yourself is where your home is. In essence, home is where you are.
I’m so glad that she stood up for herself. He’s a wild dude.
An aside. I like that Violet and Xaden are bound together out of necessity and not want. It’s obvious that at some point that they will be intimate but it seems more realistic this way. Also we’re a while in and they still haven’t gotten together. I like this a lot. The book stands on its own. I’m pleasantly surprised by this.

The power dynamics shifting, and many of the first years now being bonded to dragons is making this book even more amazing to devoyr! I most certainly had a good laugh after Jack got pushed out of his seat (he deserved it!).
I think the older riders sitting with the first years shows that they now have a form of respect for them, and are accepting them into the college now that they have bonded with dragons and are taking the next steps forward.
I agree with Violet! A home is where you feel safe and welcome, regardless of how you pictured your future, it can be anywhere, any thing or anyone. Sometimes life doesn’t go according to plan, but that is usually when you find the people and places in your life that make you feel completely at home and happy.
Violet has changed and grown so much throughout the last few chapters. We see her grow into her character and become more confident as she moves forward. I think these changes have been extremely beneficial to her character!

I feel that Jack needed to take that hit, since he’s been so rude and just had to get a reality check. I liked that the older riders sat with the first year riders. It’s like they earned the respect of the older riders.
I completely agree with Violet regarding the second home. Violet definitely found her place in the riders quadrant, even though it took some time.
I am here for every moment where Violet stands her ground and grows in herself. She has come so far and I’m so proud of her. There are layers to her being different, it’s not just physical, but mentally and emotionally and in all three areas she developed.

I think the power is shifting beyond being in a certain year.I do agree with Violent. Although she thought that she would end up in the Archive, becoming a Rider has changed her for the better.
I love the new Violet and I love that she stood up for herself!
