Chapter Twenty-Two has us back on the sparing mat. Based on the feedback given by Rhiannon, Violet is better and faster, but she still has a long way to go before challenges resume after the Winter solstice. The start of the chapter is filled with a lot of tension between Violet and her dragons, Violet and Dain and most obviously, Violet and Xaden. It is also in the previous chapters that we see Violet admit her attraction to Xaden. What do you make this scene? Do you think Violet and Dain will every patch up their relationship? Do you think they should?

After nearly 300 pages, we finally see Violet and Xaden cave. Is this the start of their relationship? What are you hoping will happen next?

Violet is finally channeling although no power has manifested. What do you think her signet will be? We’ve already gotten some subtle and not so subtle hints.

Jack is finally able to challenge Violet in Chapter Twenty-Three. What do you make of his adamance to kill Violet. Do you think it is more than just weeding out the weak? Violet manages to win the fight, but do you think she would have if she didn’t know he was allergic to oranges?

Chapter 22-23: I think it is going to be a long road for Violet and Dain to repair their relationship and rightfully so. Dain still sees Violet as this damsel in distress and cannot see the strong, independent woman she has grown to be as a result of becoming a rider.

We finally see Violet and Shadow daddy cave and I am here for it!!! I was so giddy once they had their first kiss and their interaction/ dialogue leading up to it!

So after rereading, I realized that Rebecca does drop some obvious hints about her signet.. but I’m excited to see what everyone else thinks!

I think Violet would have been in serious trouble if she didn’t know he was allergic to oranges..

Listen, to stop time is a WILD ability and having two dragons means that’s not even the extend of her power!

Jack is a lost cause. He needs Jesus. Period.

    First, this artwork is incredible!

I don’t think Violet and Dain should patch up their relationship. He is toxic to her and she’s better off. The tension is definitely high in every area.

I’ve been waiting for this moment and loved it! When the enemies become lovers!!

I missed the hints of the signet the first and second time around, but this time I realized they pointed into a direction.

I don’t know if Violet would have won, maybe, maybe not. I don’t want to underestimate her. She’s just smart that way to figure out other’s weakness. Work smarter, not harder 😉

Dain gives me such a pain in the a-hole. Honestly, I don’t think it will be worth patching up the relationship with Dain, and I think things that Dain has done and said would make reconciliation nearly impossible. He is so infuriating – he thinks Violet is weak and literally humiliates her in front of her peers!

Now Xaden and Violet on the other hand ….that relationship I can get behind! Is it the enemies-to-lovers story that has me obsessed? Or is it just him? Who knows, but I love it! One has to think though: is it not perhaps the connection between the mated dragons HEAVILY infleuncing their attraction? I hope they can work things out and become the ultimate power couple.

Can Jack just unlike already?? Geez

Violet and Dain would have to work through a lot to mend their friendship, and it’s something I don’t think will happen any time soon, to be honest. And honestly, at the moment, Dain does not deserve it. I’m all for a redemption arc, but right now I still dislike Dain too much.

I may have audibly said FINALLY, despite knowing it was coming up during this reread.

Since this is a reread, I already know what her signet is, but it is interesting to me how many clues Yarros left for us throught the chapters hinting towards her signet.

Honestly, I don’t think Violet would have made it had she not known abour Jack’s allergy.

I’m so happy that Violet stood up for herself. I don’t think that they should patch up their relationship.

I hoped that they would get together. Xaden seems to genuinely care about her.

I know what her signet will be. But it’s so cool to see all the foreshadowing.

At this point he’s just doing it for his pride, I don’t think it’s about weeding out the weak. She wouldn’t have won the fight – once again she outsmarted her opponent.

I really believed that Dain would see the error of his ways. I wanted their friendship to evolve together – I wanted him to be there for her.

I was so happy when it happened! Their vibe and chemistry is through the roof!!

I really did think her signet would of been healing or something similar.

Jack is a complete psycho – I don’t think I have ever hated a character as much as I hate him. His anger and rage towards her seems so abnormal? Is it a strange attraction situation? I don’t think she would of beat him – she is not on that level yet to best Jack and I am glad her knowledge of poison’s bought her this far. But honestly I think Jack is a liability to his entire squad and to everyone – he is unhinged.
