I absolutely LOVED this book! The moment I saw Ali Hazelwood writing a paranormal romance, I was giddy with excitement. I had read 3 of her books and adored them, so I knew she wouldn’t disappoint by venturing into a new genre. And she delivered with the vampires and werewolves!

Each chapter started with Lowe’s thoughts and every time I was just grinning from ear to ear – those few sentences made me look forward to the next chapter. One of the examples: “Her presence soothes him more than a full-moon run.

There was one sentence that gives alpha of the pack vibes and it was when Misery asked Lowe if she is under his protection, and he was like, ‘You’re my wife.” Why do I love it so much!!

“Am I? Under your protection?” “You’re my wife.”

I am disappointed that I can’t read this book again for the first time, it was just so good. Some intimate scenes had me trying to solve formulas in my head – all I’m saying is the knot. IYKYK.

“Maybe you’re not meant for me the way I’m meant for you, but I’m going to choose you anyway, over and over and over again.”

I enjoyed the plot, loved the characters especially Ana and felt the connection between the Weres and Misery were intriguing. So much happened and each character had their own agenda, but it all fits together so well – in a Were/Vampyre kind of way. Even though this book is nothing like Twilight, it just brought back memories where my love for Weres and Vampyres started.

  • Vampyres
  • Werewolves
  • Enemies to lovers
  • Marriage of convenience
  • Steamy scenes
  • Slow burn
  • Paranormal romance
  • Opposites attract

If you like Ali Hazelwood’s books, you need to read this one.

SPOILERS AHEAD, READ WITH CAUTION!!

It got an immediate 5 stars. I mean, it’s @alihazelwood, so of course it would, BUT OH MY GOSH I LOVED THIS BOOK.

You know me, I’m a sucker (pun intended) for any book that has vampires, and this one just exceeded all expectations.

I love how Ali wrote it that the Vampyres and Weres weren’t supernatural, but completely biological. It was such an interesting concept, and honestly a really nice change from the usual supernatural ones.

I loved the fact that Misery and Lowe were mates, even though they are completely different species. TRUE LOVE PREVAILS YA’LL!!!

And the twist! The fact that it was her FATHER that was behind the disappearance of Serena?? WILD.

I also loved the cat, Sparkles. I would totally name a cat Sparkles.

AND. AND. There better be another one with how it ended, if there isn’t, I will riot.

Please note that this is NOT a YA book. I’d give it an age rating of about 17+ or 18+

Recommendation Scale: 8/10 (8 because it’s not a book for everyone)

Would I read again? ABSOLUTELY.

“Maybe you’re not meant for me the way I’m meant for you, but I’m going to choose you anyway, over and over and over again.”

Ok, is this my new favourite Ali book? Pretty much, yes. I could knot put this book down!

This book follows Misery (iykyk) and my new bae Lowe. We got marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and my god the slow burn, BURNED.

I loved Misery as a FMC. Being in the IT field myself, I was constantly chuckling over all the IT jokes that were thrown about.

I know I say this about all my book boyfriends, but from the beginning, Lowe stole my fickle little heart. Ali just knows how to write the perfect grumpy, brooding yet soft and caring MMCs that make your heart melt.

Ana was the absolute cutest, and my ovaries couldn’t take the relationship between her and Lowe.

I loved that this book wasn’t just a romance and that we got the whole mystery aspect to the book as well.

The spice in this book was also top tier! I would Knot change a single thing about it… except maybe that it took so long to get to *that* specific scene.

That ending…@alihazelwood , please, please, please write more books in this world! I need that hinted next book like ASAP!

I absolutely adored this book, it took me back to my Wattpad fiction days and had me in a CHOKEHOLD. i think it took me 3 hours to finish which says a lot about me and this trope. i was one of those people that wrote werewolf fiction and kept it in my story drafts like i was some amazingly talented author so the nostalgia this book gave me was so REAL.

UNPOPULAR OPINION :
I’m not a fan of 🌶️ so I was not a fan of some chapters in the book which is why my rating is kind of mid.

The story line brought back every one of my favourite Wattpad book tropes so i felt it was similar to things I’ve already read 🙂

Overall love love loved this book and the fuzzy warm feeling it gave me.

“Maybe you’re not meant for me the way I’m meant for you, but I’m going to choose you anyway, over and over and over again.”

I did not know I was missing some good old werewolfs and vampires on my tbr. The banter was so so good, the love story had me kicking my feet and the element of mystery and world building was the perfect backdrop to keep me intrigued. So glad I picked this up!
