Do you think King Estienne being Annais’ son is plausible? Did you see this twist coming?
Do you think, based on current events, that Illian is attempting to prove that both his brothers are inadequate rulers? First, he demonstrates through Annais that Estienne is not of royal blood. What do you think he will do to Anton?
Why do you think Copelan went with Vasalie’s idea? Do you think he and Esmée will take the credit for it?
Vasalie tries to freeze her heart. Do you think Copelan will realise that he made a mistake? Or is it, as Vasalie said, Copelan is the moon and Esmée is the stars, they are destined to be together?
Anton once again proposes to Vasalie that he is a viable romantic option. Do you think she will accept his offer?
Copelan is visibly unimpressed by finding Anton and Vasalie together. Considering the choices he made, should he feel that he has a right to warn Vasalie against the Crowns?
What do you think of Vasalie’s realistion at the end of Chapter Twenty-Five?
How do you think Antion found out about Vasalie’s imprisonment?
When Anton mentioned finding out who else was under Illian’s employ, who did you expect?
Do you think Anton will keep his promise of bringing Vasalie back to see the glassmakers?
When Vasalie asks Anton how he convinced Queen Sadira to remain on friendly terms, did you expect his response?
Anton mentions that Illian believes he has paid off Miss Sezar. Do you think it is possible that she is playing both sides?
We have been expecting Vasalie’s father to be working with Illian. What do you think of the confirmation?
What do you think of Anton’s reaction to finding out that General Stova is Vasalie’s father? Especially when compared to Copelan’s?
Do you think General Stova promised Vasalie’s hand in marriage to someone we’ve met?
What do you think of Antion’s attempt at concealing his and Vasalie’s identity from Illian and General Stova? What do you think will come from this?
When Vasalie is experiencing her panic attack, Anton finds a way to calm her down. What do you think of his methods?
Anton wonders if Vasalie will become his comfort. What is something that brings you comfort?

Yes, Illian is smart and very secretive. He must have known all along and waited until the time was right to dethrone his brother. I really didn’t see this coming, not even after the prophecy.
He probably will try and prove Anton is inadequate too. He will most probably bring up Anton’s lifestyle choices or even the invention.
He knows that Vasalie has the best ideas and those ideas has been the very reason the crowd loved them. But I really hope they don’t take all the credit, Vasalie doesn’t deserve that.
Anton will realise his mistake sooner or later when Esmèe leaves him again. She’s only there on Illian’s request.
I really hope she does, because Copelan has never known what he wanted.
His irrational fear of the crowns should be directed at Illian. He has no reason to not trust Anton, crown or not.
I had this feeling since the moment we started seeing Illian’s true colours more. That’s why I felt he would still try and protect her even if she didn’t do as he said. But after everything I know he is not afraid to throw anyone under the bus.
At first I thought that he might also have spies in Illian’s palace, but it might also be Brigitte.
The type of man that Anton is, he’ll surely bring her back.
No, but it also makes sense. As loud as Anton might be it takes stillness and silence to be an observer.
I don’t think Anton’s people would betray him. I have a feeling he’s a great king to them.
The confirmation wasn’t really needed because it was clear the night Laurent was thrown under the bus by Vasalie. But I didn’t expect her father to be this closely involved with him.
Too me it kind of feels the same, now knowing Copelan’s feelings. At first he seemed angry at Vasalie, but he was there for her after. Where as you could tell that Anton’s anger was directed at the general rather than Vasalie and he didn’t hesitate before giving Vasalie his support. In that moment he was ready to protect her even if it meant he could miss valuable information from the conversation between Illian and her father.
I don’t know why I have a feeling that it’s Rurick. I would make sense if his plan was to take over Rurick’s kingdom all along.
This is the start on a flame. I know there was no other way to conceal their identities. But that surely wasn’t an act.
He used a very good method to calm her down. I also think that he’s been using it himself.
Music, especially the playlist I have of my favourite Kpop group.

1. I didn’t see that twist coming! I figured they kept Annais’s son from her but I never thought it would be Estienne!
2. I think he might try to kill Anton and not just discredit him. The hatred seems to run deep – also based on his previous attempts.
3. Seems like they would. I think Vasalie’s creativity is superior, hence why they used the idea and modified it to suit Esmee’s strengths. I wouldn’t put it past them to take credit for it.
4. I don’t think he will. He is smitten with Esmee.
5. I sure as heck hope so! I have been firmly team Anton for some time now!
6. It feels like he is constantly riding a high horse and comes across as very judgemental. He does still care for Vasalie though so maybe his intentions were in the right place given the Crowns reputation.
7. I loved the moment of self realization on her part – that it is so much bigger than whatever she had with Copelan. It showed wonderful growth and strength on her part, because she was able to let go of her comfort.
8. He likely has his owns spies in Illian’s territory.
9. I wasn’t at all surprised to find it was General Stove. I thought we might find Princess Aesir there as well.
10. I think something great is blooming between them both and I hope that he is able to one day. I think he’d keep that promise.
11. I didn’t but I loved it! Listening is an underrated and powerful skill!
12. It is, but given how she covered up for them, I am hoping that isn’t the case.
13. It just reaffirmed my suspicions and also further highlighted how vile they both are.
14. Anton’s reaction was interesting. I think he was furious and upset on Vasalie’s behalf but it didn’t really feel that way when Vasalie told Copelan. I do love how he checked on her even though he might forsake important information!
15 . I have a feeling it was promised to Illian.
16. The way I squealed when it happened! I was so excited because it finally happened!! I hope something amazing blossoms from it. I love the fire that Anton sparks in Vasalie.
17. I think they worked well and really helped to ground her in reality in that moment.
18. My kitties and a hug from my hubby ♥️

I didn’t see the twist coming at all! I in knew that Illian wanted her Annais there for a reason but this was not even on my radar in the slightest.
Yes, he’s basically wanting to prove that anyone besides himself is inadequate. I wouldn’t put it past Illian to just straight up kill Anton – he’s tried before and Anton has said Illian has planned this many times. Either kill him or discredit him somehow.
I think Copelan values her ideas and input – he knows it was the best choice. I don’t know if they’ll take credit for it but I hope not. That would be a nasty thing to do. But we don’t really know Esmee So I’m not sure what she is capable of.
Vasalie is correct. Those two are mirrors of each other. I’m not denying Copelan’d feelings for Vas, but his feelings for Esmee seem to outweigh it.
I HOPE SHE ACCEPTS HIS OFFER. This man has me flustered along with Vasalie.
Copelan is rightfully concerned for Vasalie especially after what he saw happened to Esmee. He likely feels as though he warned her and she isn’t listening.
It’s one that I thought from the start. I don’t believe Illian will ever let her go. I’m glad she’s realizing it.
Brigitte may have told him? But he mentions he has eyes and ears everywhere and I believe this is true. He is far too smart not to have eyes everywhere.
I expected that it would be her father.
Yes, I think that Anton is someone who keeps his word. Knowing what Vas has endured and how she has been treated, he would know what it would mean to her too – both coming back to see it and him keeping his word.
I didn’t expect his exact response but I knew that it wasn’t something too far out there. I always suspected that Anton knows exactly what people need and he proved it when he spoke about how he handled Queen Sadira.
It may be, but she also seems like someone who knows a lot more than people think. If she knows the type of person Illian is, I think she’d pretend to be on his side but given an ultimatum she’d side with Anton (rightfully so).
Yes! I know most of us suspected they’d be working together and I love that our suspicions were confirmed. I feel validated. But also he’s grows into a bigger pile of poop the more we learn about him.
I loved that his reaction of the news was more concern over Vasalie than anything else. He needed to hear what they were saying but he also cared about vasalie in the moment.
Yes. I’m just wondering who it could be, especially because Emilia had known who it was. It would be some kind of irony if it was Illian or one of his brothers.
I was SCREAMING INTERNALLY. I am still unwell after reading that. It definitely stirred up some feelings for the both of them. Need a water break after that. But I also need more.
His method was perfect for trying to ground Vasalie in the moment.
My comfort is my furbaby, Luci. My books, a hot shower and my bed.

I didn’t see that twist coming at all😱 I thought Annais was just another prisoner/ servant of Illian’s, not his trump card to getting his brother dethroned!
I think he’s going to try to either kill Anton or find a way to discredit him as a sound ruler (by orchestrating events similar to the Laurent situation where it makes Anton seem like an unfit ruler who doesn’t know what’s going on in his own kingdom/ among his trusted subjects).
Because her idea was great and he has no creative or original ideas and wanted to impress Esmee, so he probably kept it to himself as passed it off to Esmee as if it was his own idea.
They’ve already taken the credit for it on stage in front of everyone without at least involving Vasalie in the final bow and stating it was her idea😠They deserve each other, and probably are the light of each other’s life/ missing halves, but I’m glad Vasalie was able to realise her connection to him was superficial and based on a need for comfort, but wouldn’t be sustainable in the long run.
I hope she accepts his offer, because he seems pretty viable to me🤭
No, I don’t think so. I think he’s chosen Esmee, and doesn’t get to have a say in any platonic or romantic connections that Vasalie chooses to pursue (regardless of whether that’s with a Crown or not).
I think its incredibly saddening to realise that the freedom you’ve been promised at the end of all of this is probably a lie, but I’m glad that she’s having this realisation now so that she can align herself with Anton and work towards freeing herself from Illian instead of waiting for the impossible chance that Illian will let her out of his clutches.
I think he has spies and informants in Illian’s part of the kingdom the same way that Illian has spies at the Gathering. But the only person who knew about her imprisonment were the people informed about Vasalie, and so it could be either the physician who attended her wounds or Brigitte who told him that information about Vasalie’s imprisonment.
Based on the interactions they’ve had so far, I expected it to be General Stova.
I hope so. He’s so observant and informed that I think he knows she’s been let down by people’s empty promises before, and he’ll try to keep his promise to her.
Honestly no, I was expecting something more elaborate and cunning, but I forgot for a moment that that’s his brothers’ MO and not his. I feel like listening and approaching Queen Sadira and her people from a place of understanding is more reflective of the Anton we know behind his partying facade, so his response to Vasalie was more reflective of his character.
She could be playing both sides, but judging from her behaviour of keeping Anton and Vasalie’s cover when they were nearly caught, I suspect her allegiance is more aligned with Anton than with Illian.
I was not surprised. Both men have an interest in furthering their political gain and enjoying the suffering of others on the way to the top. So it made sense. Having that confirmed wasn’t as shocking as finding out details of their plan to overthrow King Rurik. I thought he was working with Rurik and General Stova was just the second in command being brought along to carry out some of the plans. I didn’t know the general and Illian were the ones with the partnership and Rurik is being conspired against!
It was the type of reaction I expected from Copelan when he first heard. Instead of getting upset with her, I’m glad he comforted her and was angry on her behalf. Knowing Anton and how he deals with knowledge, he probably knows all about General Stova and the violent nature of the man outside of the battlefield.
He probably promised her hand in marriage to Illian. It would explain the man’s obsession with her and why he felt like she belonged to him, even as his jewel. We know the general and Illian are co-conspirators, but we don’t know how long its been going on for. So I think she was promised to Illian.
I was squealing and blushing the whole time🤭💖 I hope their relationship continues to progress from here, and I can’t wait to read all about it🤭
I liked how grounded the method is in our own reality. I often use that method to calm myself down from my panic or anxiety attacks, so having it appear here was really cool to read about.
Reading, my true crime podcasts, my bed, and my 8 hour Saturday movie marathons with my sister💖

I did not see this coming at all.
I think he will kill him or try to prove that he is an inadequate ruler.
The crowd always loves her ideas and he knows this. I hope they dont take full credit for it but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do.
Copelan clearly has a soft spot for Esmee, so I dont think he will think he made a mistake unless Esmee does something to really hurt him.
Yes! Based of their chemistry and banter.
I feel he still cares for her and doesn’t trust the Crowns because of their reputation.
I am glad she has come to the realization that he may not give her back her freedom. This way she can figure out on her own to get it back instead of just doing whatever he says and hoping he will let her go.
He probably has spies everywhere.
I do think he will bring her back to the glassmakers. I feel a romantic relationship forming.
I did expect his response.
I do think she is playing both sides but is secretly on Antons.
Not surprised at all. This leaves so many questions.
I love how he cared about how she is feeling and showed concern for her straight away.
Soon as I read that I thought of Illian. It would be a good plot twist but also make so much sense.
After that moment I’m sure we will be reading more moments like this lol.
It showed that they work well together and that his method was perfect for her.
Watching a good series like Gilmore girls or reading brings me comfort.

1. Yes, it’s plausible because the political manipulation and secrecy in this world make it believable. I didn’t fully see it coming, but looking back, there were hints.
2. Yes, Illian seems to be dismantling both brothers’ credibility. For Anton, I think he’ll stage a situation to frame him as either reckless or treasonous.
3. Copelan likely went with Vasalie’s idea because it was strategic and offered a win, even if risky. I think Esmée and Copelan will take most of the credit.
4. I think Copelan will eventually realise it was a mistake, but by then the emotional damage will be deep. Vasalie’s moon-and-stars comment might still hold true though.
5. No, I don’t think she’ll accept Anton’s offer because her trust in him is still complicated.
6. Copelan has no real right to warn her after his own choices, but his feelings may blind him to that hypocrisy.
7. Her realisation is powerful and it’s a moment where she starts seeing her own agency and worth more clearly.
8. Likely through a spy or informant as Anton’s network seems wider than he lets on.
9. I suspected someone already close to the royal circle and possibly a trusted ally who’s secretly loyal to Illian.
10. Yes, Anton seems sincere in his promise about the glassmakers.
11. No, I didn’t expect his exact response as it was surprisingly diplomatic for him.
12. Yes, it’s possible Miss Sezar is playing both sides to protect her own interests.
13. It fits the political intrigue, but it still stings and it confirms how deep Illian’s reach goes.
14. Anton reacted with more controlled shock and strategy, while Copelan’s reaction was more personal and emotional.
15. Yes, I think General Stova may have promised her to someone powerful, maybe even for leverage in his own plans.
16. Anton’s disguise attempt was clever but risky. It could buy them time, but Illian is too sharp to be fooled for long.
17. His methods were gentle but firm and grounding her in the moment rather than dismissing her feelings.
18. A cozy blanket and a hot drink because it’s something that feels safe, warm, and constant. Its also really yummy.

I did not see this twist coming but the plausibility definitely makes sense. Illian is far cleverer than I ever gave him credit for. His greed for power will stop at nothing. The fact that he’s attempted to murder is brother numerous times shows he will stop at nothing to get rid of him.
I think Copelan is trying to impress Esmee, he’s definitely in love with her and wants to put on a performance of a lifetime to show how great they can be together both on and off the dance floor.
I think Copelan and Esmee are meant to be together. I love Anton and his continuous interest shown in her. I love their interactions and the way he makes her think.
I think Copelan is trying to have the best of both worlds, he needs to focus on his own endeavours and leave Vasalie to make her own choices.Anton must have found out through Marion. I’m hopeful that he will bring her back. He sees a future with her and wants to share every part of his life with her, so when things are calmer and they are safe he will bring her back to explore freely.
I didn’t expect his response at all, but once again it shows how genuine this man is.
There’s always a possibility that she could be playing both sides but I am 99% sure she is just as good at reading people and knows Anton to be someone who is trustworthy compared to Illian.
Arggg completely disgusted by both Illian and the General’s relationship. Anton knew immediately that she was in danger and wanted to avenge her father for everything he just knew she had been through as a result of his hand. I love how fiercely protective he is of her.
He could have promised her hand to the king for all we know.Anton’s ability to take precaution is truly testament to his intelligence. I think their disguise definitely worked in saving them but I also think it helped Vasalie realise that there is a budding romance between the two of them as well.
His methods sound like something he has used himself to calm down. I love how he cares about her so deeply that he immediately implemented them to try and help her.
Quiet rainy days bring me comfort.

Simone @shelves_by_sim
I did not see that coming but wow that was brilliant on Illian’s part. Whatever you can say about him, the man is one hell of a genius.
I think it’s obvious that his plan is to take down both of his brothers because he believes that he should have always been the king of the entire kingdom. Whatever he has planned for Anton will not be good.
The dance with Esmee was shocking and I’m honestly so disgusted by Copelan. He is not at all who I thought he was and that’s very dissapointing. I’ve switched teams though so its fine👀🤣
Copelan can realise all her wants, we don’t care about him anymore. But yes, I think it’s going to come back to bite him and I will enjoy it.
Gosh I hope so, I’m a little Anton obsessed at this point.
No, Copelan has no right to try and tell Vasalie what to do. Not does he have any right to tell her that he has feelings for her and Esmee. He is a coward.
Anton seems to get any information he needs, my guess he has informants everywhere.
Yes, I think Anton is not one to make promises lightly. I think he’d give Vasalie the world.
Yes and no. I did not think it would be that simple but I have come to pick up in things about Anton and for his character, I think that makes sense.
No I don’t think so. I think Anton is the time to earn loyalty from his followers and I think he is the type that people stay loyal to.
Sort of yes. His presence at the Gathering didn’t make sense and could only have been Illian’s doing.
He is obviously shocked but I loved that he immediately showed concern about what General Stova did to her.
Yes, I am getting that feeling. I think that whoever Vasalie was betrothed to will be a major plot twist.
I think that that has been my ABSOLUTELY FAVORITE scene so far! Go King Anton!!!
He methods feel as if they are experienced. I get the feeling that he has suffered just as much as Vasalie has in life.
Reading brings me comfort❤️
-
I do, due to the birthmark and the way he looks different to them. I recall speculating that they might not all be blood brothers.
That appears to be the play, the goal is the crown for all 3 states to be his.
I have no idea what he’ll expose of Anton to dethrone him. Maybe pin King Rurik’s death on him?It was an excellent idea and Copelan knew it. It seemed like they did.
It’ll probably go nowhere since it seems like Anton & her are destined to be together. They will still have some moments, Copelan and Vasalie but its ultimately Anton & her story I think
She will at some point! She should 🤭
I mean I understand his concern but at the same time he should calm down and let her make her own decisions.
A sad realization but one that needed to be brought forth. I honestly thought that Illian would grant her freedom after or at the very least clear her name.
One of his guards,a spy? The tunnels?
I expected one of the other Crowns, not the General
Yes, Anton as I said before seems to be a man of his word. Plus he totally likes her.
No, a part of me thought he’d say something like, they discussed and he took her wishes into account but I also thought he’d use his near death x Morta connection/magical stuff.
I didnt not until reading this question but nah I dont think she’ll be a traitor.
It seals the fact that Illian is not to be trusted. Also surprised in the kind of role the General is going to take here, I just assumed he was an average ally not a key player.
Anton was more supportive, caring & sweet. That man shows some of his emotions with her. Anton reacted better.
I wanna say it was supposed to be King Illian or Estienne
It was spicy thats for sure. The chemistry between these two is insane and I’m here for it!
It seems like he knows a lot about panic attacks either he’s just well versed or has experienced them and something tells me its the latter.

It definitely is plausible!! (And is also very likely the truth). This was definitely the last thing I expected from Annais – I thought she might cause mischief, but not in this manner…
Oh most definitely, yes. It’s clear he’s very focused and obsessed with control, so him taking out his brothers in order to “get back” what was initially his is very plausible. I suspect there’s a secret Anton is hiding that Illian will very soon exploit.
He’s built this romantic fantasy with Vasalie in his head and simply replacing her with someone who actually reciprocates his feelings does make sense to some extent. I was fully expecting the idea to be stolen and for it to play out like this. They’ll most likely take credit yes.
I don’t think so. Copelan seems to thrive on validation and attention – be it from Vasalie or Esmée or any other person. I believe he’ll simply prefer the “convenience” of Esmée already returning his feelings.
I hope so!!
He has experience in this regard, I mean look at what happened to Esmée… So maybe he feels as though that “qualifies” him enough to give an opinion, but also Anton isn’t Illian… So his opinion is unwarranted.
I absolutely loved reading this moment! Vasalie has come so far since the beginning where she was less self assured and not at all confident. I’m really enjoying her character development!
I wouldn’t be surprised if Anton had people working in Illian’s court. He seems to have people everywhere.
I was expecting Princess Aesir at the beginning but I’m truly not surprised for it to be General Stova…
I believe he will!
To some extent, yes. I knew he did something “different” to the traditional political schemes and negotiations, but I didn’t expect it to be something as simple as listening to her. I really love this detail about him.
I don’t. I think she’s on Anton’s side simply because she’s in his kingdom and also because I simply want her to be someone who’s good.
Not! Surprised! At! All!!! I called it!!
I really appreciated that he took a moment to check in with her even in that dire situation. His overall reaction was also one of anger – something we didn’t see with Copelan – which I also appreciated.
I call Illian. I’m putting all my chips on his name right now.
YOHHH 😳😳 I mean… It definitely suited the setting… Wow… This might have been the push they needed to get the ball rolling!
He’s truly only doing what’s best for her at all times. He’s super attentive, caring, and just such a good person overall. I really loved this scene.
Books 🤭 Especially books like this one!

Kayleigh (@masters.library)
It’s plausible given the court’s secrecy and Annais’ history, but it’s still a shocking revelation. I didn’t fully see it coming.
Yes, Illian is methodically discrediting them. With Anton, he might orchestrate a political scandal or frame him for treason to destroy his credibility.
Copelan trusts Vasalie’s instincts, even if he doesn’t admit it. It’s possible he and Esmée will take the credit, whether intentionally or because it benefits their positions.
He may eventually realise what he’s lost, but by then it might be too late. The “moon and stars” metaphor suggests that Vasalie believes he and Esmée are a natural match, even if it breaks her heart.
Right now, it feels unlikely. Her trust in Anton is growing, but her emotions are too tangled.
Not really. He’s made choices that distanced them, so his jealousy rings hollow. His warning may come from genuine concern, but it’s tinged with possessiveness.
It’s a turning point, she’s beginning to understand her own agency and the stakes of the games around her.
Likely through his network of informants or loyalists within Illian’s ranks. Anton strikes me as someone who keeps careful tabs on everything.
I expected a minor court figure or guard, not someone with close personal ties, definitely made it more impactful.
If circumstances allow, yes. Anton seems to value keeping promises, but in their world, political chaos could easily derail his plans.
No, it was surprisingly candid and strategic at the same time, showing he’s not above using charm or negotiation to keep alliances intact.
Yes, it’s possible. People in this court survive by being useful to everyone, and Miss Sezar seems like the type to hedge her bets.
It’s both infuriating and unsurprising. The hints were there, but the confirmation makes the betrayal sting far more deeply.
Anton’s reaction feels measured, he processes it politically. Copelan’s is more emotional, protective, and immediate, showing their different priorities.
It’s very possible, especially to strengthen an alliance. If so, the reveal could be a significant future conflict.
It’s a clever move to buy them time. The danger is that deception in this world rarely lasts, and when the truth comes out, it could escalate tensions.
He approaches it with steady, grounding gestures, but gentle. It shows a deeper understanding of her needs and a willingness to meet her in vulnerability.
For me, comfort comes from quiet, consistent things such as cuddles, familiar books, and the sense that someone understands you without needing you to explain
-
I did not see this coming and to be honest felt like it came out of no where? Illian has a plan which we know as he’s set Vas on a whole mission with tasks but this reveal was a shocker for sure and I do think it is plausible.
Illian wants the entire kingdom for himself so of course he is trying to find ways to prove that his brothers are seen as inadequate rulers. I think Anton will be killed by Illian.
Copelan will 100% use Vas’ idea as he knows that her ideas are unique and have the wow factor. Vasalie is right about Copelan and Esme being destined to be with each other as I believe she herself knows that Copelan doesnt like her the way he does Esme.
I dont think she will outright accept Antons offer as Vas is still very skeptical and struggles to trust easily. I think she will need more insight as to who Anton really is before making this decision.
Copelan lost Esme in a very similar manner so its understandable as to why he feels like he has the right to warn Vas against the Crowns. But I also think he needs her to make her own decisions on deeming whether someone is good or not.
I LOVE that she finally realises that she will never be released of Illians shackles and that its all just one big game for Illian.
Anton clearly does his homework on everyone that is in his court so makes sense that he would know that Vas was in prison. He also took a liking towards her from the very beginning which must have resulted in him digging into her past even more. Id also like to think that maybe Mariane told him about it however, this may be a longshot.
I expected Vas’ father to be under Illians employ and even Copelan.
Of course! Anton has feelings for Vas that is more than lust so i think him offering this to her says something as he sees her as someone that will stick around with him.
No, not really. It was always implied that he did something more and as we know of Antons reputation i think this was the last thing i thought he would have done to have convinced Queen Sadira.
Sezar could be playing both sides and rightfully so.
It wasnt a big shock to find that Vas’ father is working with Illian, there were subtle hints however, I think it makes things worse as maybe this means he knows that Vas is his daughter.
Yes, I do think its one of the characters we’ve been introduced to. I had initally thought it was Estienne but now im thinking maybe Illian?
Anton concealing their identies makes me as a reader trust him and thus i think Vas will as well. This may be a turning point for Vas and her feelings towards Anton as well as her opening up in trusting Anton even more.
His methods makes me believe that he himself has experienced a panic attack which is why he knows how to talk Vas through one. This was such a kind gesture from him.
Comfort for me is being at home in my own little environment alone. I love spending time by myself and its become such a comfort for me.

Rozanne (@rozanne_visagie)
1. That is the biggest and most unexpected twist ever! I gasped since I didnt’ see that coming.
2. Illian is trying to show he’d be a better ruler, but only by sabotaging and preying on the weakness of others. He might hit close to home with Anton, something or someone that Anton cares about. Anton is a closed-off person, so I can just imagine that Illian has his eyes and ears spying on Anton to find something or someone.
3. Copelan went with Vasalie’s idea because it’s creative, unique and would make such a lovely show. If he and Esmée take credit for that dance, I am writing Copelan off. I had so much hope for him and Vasalie, but Esmée is a wild card, so maybe she wouldn’t do that.
4. What an emotional scene. I felt so bad for Vasalie. Copelan was actually the first person that she grew close to after arriving, and now seeing him with this old partner. I doubt that he’ll realise that he made a mistake
5. I think Vasalie is very guarded and suspicious about everything and everyone. I don’t think she’ll accept his offer, because what if it is a test from Illian, or what if Anton had an agenda.
6. Copelan is jealous, and in all honesty, he doesn’t have a foot to stand on when it comes to Vasalie. He can warn her agains the Crowns, but it would just make him look more jealous.
7. I think she had a small inkling, but this was the moment that she finally realised that Illian won’t let her go. Especially after seeing the girl that he dressed like her. That is a sign of obsession.
8. Anton has many ways of gathering information; he can even spy on you behind a wall of glass. But he might have his own spies keeping an eye on Illian.
9. I had a thought that it might be General Stova.
10. Aww, that was such a thoughtful moment. The way Anton already plans for them to have a future. Knowing what Vasalie has gone through, those simple words mean a lot. I think he would keep his promise.
11. I did not expect his response.
12. I hope that she isn’t playing both sides, time will tell.
13. I just knew it! And now that we have the confirmation, I’m so worried for Vasalie. Two of the worst people in her life are working together. That is a nightmare.
14 They had such opposite reactions. I feel that Anton was more caring.
15. This right here has me so stressed! The characters we’ve met, that’s not a great pool to choose from. Except perhaps Anton, I still like him, but it’s for sure someone we’ve met.
16. What a moment! I hope this is the start of something good.
17. It is evident that Anton cares about Vasallie, especially since he finds a way to calm her down. His methods worked.
18. My pets and books are great comfort for me. Also being outside and just listening to the birds sing.

Q: Do you think King Estienne being Annais’ son is plausible? Did you see this twist coming?
A: I did not see this coming at all, no! What a turn of events. I did not doubt the claim but now that you mention it, I’m questioning it.Q: Do you think, based on current events, that Illian is attempting to prove that both his brothers are inadequate rulers? First, he demonstrates through Annais that Estienne is not of royal blood. What do you think he will do to Anton?
A: I think the more accurate question would be what he would *not* do to Anton. As we later see, he’s already tried doing the worst.Q: Why do you think Copelan went with Vasalie’s idea? Do you think he and Esmée will take the credit for it?
A: Because he is a piece of soggy lettuce with no imagination. Of course they will take credit.Q: Vasalie tries to freeze her heart. Do you think Copelan will realise that he made a mistake? Or is it, as Vasalie said, Copelan is the moon and Esmée is the stars, they are destined to be together?
A: I think Esmee will leave him again and he will come crawling back.Q: Anton once again proposes to Vasalie that he is a viable romantic option. Do you think she will accept his offer?
A: I think she will once she discovers that his reputation is just a facade and that he is a different person than who she thinks he is.Q: Copelan is visibly unimpressed by finding Anton and Vasalie together. Considering the choices he made, should he feel that he has a right to warn Vasalie against the Crowns?
A: No, he has no right.Q: What do you think of Vasalie’s realistion at the end of Chapter Twenty-Five?
A: I’m so happy that her eyes opened in that regard and she realized what she needed to on her own terms.Q: How do you think Antion found out about Vasalie’s imprisonment?
A: Probably through spies. Maybe his tunnels.Q: When Anton mentioned finding out who else was under Illian’s employ, who did you expect?
A: I’m not sure, really. I find myself too much in the moment with this book – which is very different than my normal solving-guessing-reading.Q: Do you think Anton will keep his promise of bringing Vasalie back to see the glassmakers?
A: Yes. I have a feeling that he stays true to his word.Q: When Vasalie asks Anton how he convinced Queen Sadira to remain on friendly terms, did you expect his response?
A: Not at all, no. It’s a very smart move.Q: Anton mentions that Illian believes he has paid off Miss Sezar. Do you think it is possible that she is playing both sides?
A: Yes 🤣 money is money. But maybe she respects one more than the other.Q: We have been expecting Vasalie’s father to be working with Illian. What do you think of the confirmation?
A: It’s sickening. I don’t believe that Illian does NOT know who she really is.Q: What do you think of Anton’s reaction to finding out that General Stova is Vasalie’s father? Especially when compared to Copelan’s?
A: It was really sweet to see that someone cared for her wellbeing.Q: Do you think General Stova promised Vasalie’s hand in marriage to someone we’ve met?
A: I did not think of this but now I’m so curious!Q: What do you think of Antion’s attempt at concealing his and Vasalie’s identity from Illian and General Stova? What do you think will come from this?
A: We love a fake dating moment! I think we know what comes next 👀Q: When Vasalie is experiencing her panic attack, Anton finds a way to calm her down. What do you think of his methods?
A: He is such a darling. Him using that method shows he cares about mental health and has experienced it before, whether it be himself or with someone else.Q: Anton wonders if Vasalie will become his comfort. What is something that brings you comfort?
A: My boyfriend is my comfort. A hug from him recharges me ❤️
