A Language of Dragons Day Five

Chapter Fourteen starts with the girls getting ready for the ball. What do you think of the broadcast that interrupts the girls? What do you make of Wyvernmire’s government only allowing First Class citizens to study dragon tongues?

At the dinner party, many secrets come to light including that the island of Canna is where criminal youths are sent. While Lord Rushby makes it seem like the dragons are in the wrong, Prime Minister Wyvernmire has been keeping secrets. The rebels are slowly dismantling the government. Which secret do you think will be the downfall of Prime Minister Wyvernmire’s regime?

As the story continues, Atlas and Viv’s relationship becomes a bit blurred, and Atlas seems to be willing to share his secrets with Viv. When do you think he will reveal that he is a potential rebel (we assume based on his views)?

While outside with Atlas, Viv notices Professor Hollingsworth. Viv asks why the professor is allowing the government to restrict the Dragon’s Language at the department. It seems that Wyvernmire has her fingers in a lot of pots. Do you think Professor Hollingsworth will send Viv her mother’s research?

What do you think of Prime Minister Wyvernmire’s change of terms? Viv thought she would be able to save everyone she cares about but now that has all slipped away. Will Viv still have a chance to save everyone or will she be stuck to Wyvernmire’s new terms?

Do you think Wyvernmire is bluffing?

Gideon was the first to attempt murdering one of his fellow recruits. Would Katherine have done the same as Gideon? Or was she telling the truth about self-defense?

Do you think Viv is catching onto Atlas’ secret? Or do you think she already knows what it is?

    1. I think that it was planned to happen during that event. I think that it is being used to control society even more. Slowly allowing Wyvernmire to implement her agenda.

    2. I think that she is sending children to get hunted will be the line no one agrees with.

    3. I dont think he will confess. I feel like either he will do something bug to prove his alliance or someone will out him.

    4. I definitely do think she will. I think as much as she is a loyalist, she doesnt agree with this law.

    5. She has changed the law because she is desperate. Shes wanting answers and its taking too long in her opinion. Perhaps more is happening behind the scenes we dont know yet.

    6. No I dont. I think she will keep her word.

    7. Perhaps initially its self defence but i would think she may get desperate enough due to Viv being ahead.

    8. I think she suspects he is a rebel.

    1. Propaganda is being flung around to intimidate, discourage and confuse all the citizens. I think it’s ridiculous of them to assume that no one in First Class will decide to rebel and work with the dragons, if this is what they’re trying to discourage by only allowing First Class citizens to study Dragon Languages.
    2. It could either be the fact that they’re allowing dragons to eat the juveniles that they don’t know what else to do with or the fact that she’s allowing only the one class to study dragon languages.
    3. I give it three more chapters – he was close to kissing her in these chapters, it won’t take long for him to trust her as a confidant, especially now that she’s spoken out against the government for the juveniles (if only to him) being eaten.
    4. I think she might consider it, even if only as an experiment
    5. I think it’s cruel and unfair. I think that she will be trapped by the new terms – she might be able to save Marquis, as he is family. But Sophie and the rest will suffer.
    6. No, she doesn’t seem the bluffing type. She is cruel.
    7. Katherine was going to try and murder whichever survived – either Vivien or Gideon. I don’t trust her self-defense claim.
    8. Not quite yet, she is still trying to figure out their relationship. I don’t think she already knows what it is.

    1. I think that has been her plan all along and she is just using the war as a cover.

    2. Once the Dragon Queen discovers that she plans to kill or control dragons by herself. Everything will fall apart.

    3. I think he will reveal it in the very end, trying to convince Viv to join the rebel because honestly what they are fighting for makes sense.

    4. Yes, I think she’s also pained by the prime minister decision so she might give Viv her mom’s propasal because she sees herself in Viv in a way.

    5. I think Viv will figure a way to save everyone with Atlas’s help.

    6. No, she means business.

    7. She would have done the same, she just used the defense thing to save herself.

    8. I think she’s catching on to it.

    1. Its such an injustice, there should be no restrictions on who gets to learn dragon tongues and not. The political agenda should not interfere with cultural advancements.
    2. That children, CHILDREN!!, are being fed to dragons, and the multitude of other controlling policies she plans to instate.
    3. Viv is such a stickler for the rules. I think the fact that he could be a rebel will upset her a bit, but I also think because she is so ashamed of her parents being rebels might create some distance between them.
    4. I genuinely hope so, but if it were to advance her personal agenda, I think she will.
    5. The change was to obviously create a sense of urgency to crack the code, and if we know anything about Viv by now, she is going to spiral in panic and probably do something foolish. Her motives are pure, but she really doesn’t think sometimes.
    6. Nope, she’s evil, she is pure evil
    7. I don’t think we have gotten to know Kathrine all that well to make any definitive conclusion.
    8. I don’t think she knows.

The broadcast that interrupts the girls was planned to happen during the event all along. By Wyvernmire’s government only allowing First Class citizens to study dragon tongues this allows her to stay further in control.

I think that there will be a lot of secrets that will lead to the downfall of Prime Minister Wyvernmire’s regime, as there will be too many secrets to continue ignoring but I think the secret that will shock most people into taking action against her is the secret of feeding children to the dragons on the island of Canna.

Atlas, I think, will reveal that he is a rebel shortly, has be seems to really like Viv but also he seems to be wanting to tell Viv more and more especially now that Viv knows about the island of Canna and was heavily disturbed by this.

I do you Professor Hollingsworth will send Viv her mother’s research as it appears that she has quite a soft spot for Viv and sees the possible potential of Viv in the war ahead.

I am not surprised by Prime Minister Wyvernmire’s change of terms as she seems to only have her interests of winning the war in mind. I think Viv will have have a chance to save everyone but it is going to require a lot more work and for her to possibly join the rebels.

No Wyvernmire is not bluffing, she doesn’t care what happens to the recruits only that she wins the war and defeats the rebels.

I think Katherine would of been the same as Gideon in attempting to murder one of their fellow recruits as she probably also feels like she doesn’t have a choice and doesn’t think she will be the first the figure out echolocation.

I think Viv knew all along about Atlas secret in being a rebel but I think she chose to supress these thoughts and try believe that he isn’t a rebel because she has feelings for him.

Its a way of having more control over what Brittanias citizens know thus only allowing the First Class to study dragon tongue. It also prevents the lower classes from rebelling as we all know First Class citizens live a good life under the cast system thus wouldnt want to rebel against their government.

President Wyvernmire has a plethora of secrets up her sleeve which can all lead to the downfall of her regime however, I think her secret about wanting to harm the Dragons instead of living in harmony, will be the main reason of her downfall.

Atlas has been giving bits and pieces to Viv to make her understand that he doesnt stand for what the government is about and has implied that he sides with the rebel movement. Im assuming he hasn’t told her straight that he sides with the rebels because he also wants to help Viv understand that the government is wrong in their doings. So i dont think he will tell Viv that he is a potential rebel until she sees the governments wrongdoings first.

As harsh as Professor Hollingsworth was when Vivs family was arrested, I do think she will send Viv her mothers research purely because she likes Viv and believes she has a bright future ahead.

Knowing Viv, she will find a way to save everyone as she will come to the realisation that this is all so much bigger than only saving her family.

I dont think Wyvernmire is the type of person to bluff.

Katherine is exactly the same as Gideon and was most likely planning on killing someone.

Viv probably suspects that there is something off with Atlas but she doesnt know the whole truth.

    1. I believe its harsh, stereotypical, and goes according to the whole class system. I’m not sure why Wyvernmire’s done this at this point; she has some hidden agenda
    2. An absolutely disturbing piece of information about Canna; just reading this chapter makes me think of all the present-day corruption taking place and how laws should protect you rather than deceive.
    3. Atlas being for the Peace Agreement.
    4. I think she is bluffing because she wants to take over dragons and humans
    5. I don’t think it was self-defense.
    6. I think at this point Viv and ATlas have some romantic interest ineach each other, so it will be hard for her to admit his true intentions

    1. Yes, I think it was planned that way. The plan might be to eventually stop people from talking to dragons altogether to further her plan.
    2. To me it would probably be the fact that Wyvenmire has two different peace treaties. And I think the one with all the hidden clauses is going to be her downfall.
    3. Probably not very soon, because Viv continues to believe what the government is doing is right.
    4. Yes, she sounds like she wants to help.
    5. Even if Wyvenmire didn’t change the terms, I don’t think any of them would’ve come out of this alive. Clearly this has been going on for some time, and Wyvenmire is both adament to keep it a secret until the very end and to ensure nothing about this is leaked to the outside.
    6. No.
    7. Katherine could be in league with Gideon, but something tells me she was telling the truth.
    8. She’s smart, so she may figure it out really quickly.

Once again the government was clearly spewing false propaganda, saying there was an attack and fatalities etc, but turned out to be completely false as per the broadcast interruption by the Human dragon coalition, setting the record straight.
The fact that only First class people are allowed to learn dragon languages is ridiculous and seperatist! It will further widen the Class divide, and is a tactic meant to disarm the rebels.

The barbaric act of her sending the juvenile kids to be eaten!

I think Atlas is biding his time and seeing where Viv’s allegiances lie, before he reveals anything that big.

Yes I do think she will send Viv the research.

Wyvernmire is getting impatient and probably starting to panic too.
I hope Viv will find a way of saving everyone!
Nope, a woman like this does not play around.

I don’t trust Katherine one bit. She way she gave a shifty look to Gideon…. Were they in cahoots to kill Viv?

I think she might have her suspicions, but she certainly isn’t dwelling on them. She’s more focused on figuring out her relationship with Atlas

    1) yes I do think it was planned, it’s just ridiculous to assume that first claws citizens who are only allowed to study dragon languages wouldn’t oneday turn against the government.

    2) I think it will be whatever she plans to do with the information she gathers from the recruits.

    3) I don’t think anytime soon, maybe once she proves to him that she would be on his side.

    4) yes I think she would send Viv her mother’s research.

    5) I think she’s just trying to motivate her to Crack the code. I think Viv will eventually be able to safe everyone but she’s going to need help.

    6) No, she doesn’t seem to care about anyone but her own agenda and how it impacts her motives.

    7) I don’t think she was telling the truth

    8) I think she believes something is different with him but isn’t 100% sure what it is, especially since he’s a priest in training, she would be hesitate to assume he’s a rebel with all of his priestly beliefs.
