1. I think that it’s amazing – the dragons are clearly kinder than they seem and they obviously respected her decision.
2. Viv is definitely the dreamer – she still thinks, despite everything that’s happened, that there will be a happy ending to the whole story.
3. Yes, I think she will.
4. Perhaps a second test, or an admission of cheating, so that she would be expelled.
5. I think humans are cruel and that they want to control the entire world, running it into the ground in the process.
6. She hoped to find out more information, to bargain for the lives of her friends and family and to relay her ‘accomplishment’ (figuring out echolocation). She did get more information than she bargained for, yes. I think this discussion will change her mind and help her side with the rebels…
7. I think that she could; Chumana seems to have taken a liking to her, even if she now knows that Viv isn’t really rebel material.
8. I think they were lovers…and I think that Ralph misled Katherine, by telling her one was poisoned, when it was really the other and killed her in the process. He’s a scorpion.
9. They were in the dark (which makes everything sound loud) and in an enclosed space. I would be surprised if Sophie hadn’t overheard them. -

1. I think it was amazing and very touching. I think it shows an amazing connection they can have.
2. I think so. I think that she is living in a world that she wishes existed instead of actually realizing that is not how things are. She refuses to acknowledge the truth that is staring her in the face and that makes her the dreamer.
3. I think as the story and the stakes get higher she will finally develop a backbone
4. I think she changed things on her test.
5. Proof of what she had done to be used as blackmail.
6. I think she hoped to hear that everything was okay and as it is portrayed to the public. I think she was hoping to prove everyone wrong about Wyvernmire. I do think it will change her attitude towards betraying the dragons.
7. Yes, i feel like Chumana only came back to wait for Viv to realise she is on the wrong side of the war.
8. I don’t think she gave her the wrong biscuit by accident, i do think she meant to give it to viv. I don’t think there is anything to their relationship other than their hatred towards Viv.
9. No i dont think so. I think that they were quiet enough and the situation seemed intimate. I think if she had heard she would have interrupted her conversation.

The dragons roaring goes to show just how adored Dodie was not only by her peers but even by the dragons at Blethley Park. It also shows us that the dragons are more than just “beasts” and that they care just like humans do.
Viv is the dreamer. She still seems to believe that everything in her life will go back to normal once she provides what Wyvernmire wants not realising that a lot will change with her findings in terms of how echolocation works.
Despite being incredibly stubborn and somewhat of a coward, I do think she will eventually see the light and be brave enough to fight her cowardice. I do feel for Viv as all she has ever been told was to follow the rules, study hard, achieve good grades and all will be well. As a result of this Viv chooses to be selfish and a coward in order to protect herself and those she cares about.
Viv must have forged Sophies examination, either made it look as if Soph cheated or forged incorrect answers leading to her failing the examination.
The extract was a lot to digest. Its scary to think that this is whats happening in reality as well! Where humans in higher up positions make decisions based off of false information or even true information and manipulate it to suit their agenda just because they may not like something about another being. The extract also shows us that this ideation was formed years prior to Wyvernmire becoming President.
I think Viv wanted to convince herself as well as prove to the others that Wyvernmire is good. However, Viv did not get the answers she was hoping for and the answers she did receive confirmed what everyone else has been telling her about Wyvernmire. After her conversation with Wyvernmire I would like to think that Viv will change her stance on betraying the dragons but I also have low hopes as Viv is very stubborn and once she’s set her mind something she doesnt deter from it.
Chumana was instructed to not harm Viv when they met previously which means Chumana is working with someone that knows Viv personally. Thus I think Viv will be able to get Chumana to help.
I dont think Ralph and Katherine were anything more than just two people who had a common enemy, Viv. Katherine did seem to be quite hostile towards Viv after finding out that only one individual in each category would “win” so I do believe that she did want to kill Viv and didnt purposely give Viv the wrong biscuit.
Viv had whispered the secret to Atlas in his ear thus I dont think Sophie would have heard the secret.

1. I think it was really beautiful, they acknowledged that she did what she thought was best for her.
2. Yes Viv is the dreamer, she’s afraid of facing reality because she would also have to face the wrongs she’s done.
3. I hope so because she’s starting to infuriate me!
4. Maybe wrong answers in Sophie’s examination paper.
5. I think that humans sometimes can be heartless and only consider doing things that benefit them and forget about the rest of the world.
6. She hoped that wyvernmire would reassure her about how they going to win the war and how everything will go back to normal after that. I hope so, she saw that wyvernmire is selfish and cold hearted.
7. Yes, I think Viv and Chumana have bonded in a weird way, that If Viv cries out to Chumana, she wouldn’t turn away.
8. I think they bonded over how they both despised her. Yes I think she gave her the wrong one by mistake.
9. No, because Viv made sure that there was no one too close to them and she probably was whispering to be careful

1. I think the dragons agree with what she did, even if it led to her death. They may know something fishy is going on in the place they are guarding, so roaring in solidarity for Dodie shows they respect her decision.
2. Yes definitely.
3. I hope so.
4. Possibly the wrong answer to a question.
5. It’s scary to think that people in higher power, especially the government, can claim they are doing this for the good of the people when, in actual fact, they are merely doing it for their own gains.
6. I think Viv hoped to hear that Wyvenmire isn’t as bad as what everyone claims her to be. Viv got the complete opposite; instead of being assured that what she is doing will save not only her family but the whole country, she found out that Wyvenmire’s colluding will possibly end in a bigger war than what they are in now. I really hope it will, but Viv sounds so naive and hopes that all of this will set her free that I think her character arc will have a few big stumbling blocks.
7. Yes, but only if she agrees not to reveal the secrets behind the echolocation.
8. Personally I think Ralph was using her, while Katherine thought they had something special. It is also possible that Katherine was using him to get inside information. I would say yes, but the more I think about it, the more I believe she knew she wasn’t going to make it out alive, so she took matters into her own hands.
9. Yes I think she did. -

1. I like the contrast with the dragons, they should be seen as ruthless animals but are actually quite respectful.
2. I think she is the dreamer but this is because of the internal conflict she is experiencing. She is worried for her familys safety and is hopeful for their sake.
3. I think she will be put in a situation and she’s going to have to stand up for herself.
4. I think she forged her handwriting because she’s trying to redirect the situation in place. It could be like the examination.
5. I think this gave insight to the type of cruel people out there and the author, especially how unfair government systems work.
6. This was a wake up call for Viv.
7. Viv is mostly to ask Chumana for help as she’s proven to be helpful in the past, her abilities and leverage is much needed.
8. If their relationship wasn’t romantic it was definitely share some sort of close bond. Automatically when I think of Ralph, I would assume it’s the wrong biscuit. (poisen)
9. To make the plot even more interesting I’m going to assume Sophie overheard -

I think of the dragons roaring to commemorate Dodie is honestly special, and just shows how much of a Dragon heart she had.
I don’t even think Viv is the dreamer, I know she is dreamer. I mean how many times do things need to happen for her to release “oh hang on a minute, maybe they are right!”
I hope Viv will become brave enough to stand up to Wyvernmire, but I think maybe Viv might plan something else besides just calling Wyvernmire out on the things she has done wrong, like possibly negotiate.
I think Viv forged answers on Sophie’s exam that were incorrect to lower her mark or wrote a letter stating that Sophie cheated on the test in Sophie’s handwriting
The extract provided from the Parliament of Beatrice for me just showed that even before Wyvernmire, people in power were heartless and thought that they were doing so much “good” even though there was so many detriments to others.
I think Viv hoped deep down that possibly by confronting Wyvernmire, Wyvernmire might admit to what she did and that it was wrong and that she wanted to try fix things, as Viv did try to justify Wyvernmire actions a lot in the story but Viv did not achieve what she wanted to. I do think Viv will know change mind her mind abour betraying the dragons as she knows more now and things that came straight from Wyvernmire.
I do think Viv is going to ask Chumana to help, may to request for her to burn something down again, but I am not too sure.
I don’t think there was a relationship or friendship between Katherine and Ralph, rather that they both had a kinship of getting rid of Viv. I think Katherine gave Viv the wrong biscuit by accident as I do believe based on Katherine being hostile previously towards Viv she did want to kill her in order to greater her own chances in winning in her category.
Based on it being an intimate moment between Atlas and Viv, I don’t think Sophie overheard anything and if she did I definitely think she would of interrupted.

It was heart-warming and a touching gesture.
Viv is very naive and confused. She is indeed the dreamer, believing that everything will go back to normal once she fulfils Wyvernmire’s wishes.
I certainly hope so…although her immaturity has me worried.
I think Viv forged the examination to make it look like Sophie’s exam script.
This revealed just how sick the humans were and still are. With power, comes a great deal of other unpleasantries.
I think Viv wanted to see/hear for herself the true colours of Wyvernmire. I think this encounter has given Viv plenty food for thought and that she realises how very complicated the situation actually is.
Yes I do, and I hope she does!
I don’t think there was any romantic reltionship between Ralph and Katherine . They were just two people who really hated Viv. I do think she gave Viv the wrong biscuit by accident.
No I don’t think Sophia overheard else she would have immediately confronted Viv about what she just heard.

1) I think it shows how much dragons and humans can actually get along and respect each other, that they’re not actually enemies like the wars make them out to be, that there can be true peace between both humans and dragons.
2) I think Viv is a dreamer because she continues to deny the truth that’s being presented to her. She believes that there’s a way for her to save her family and that whatever plans the prime minister has in store for the dragons with the code will take too many years for her to develop and use against them when in reality she refuses to see how powerful and motivating the prime minister is and the fact that it won’t take her long to find recruits to master echolocation.
3) I think the more she uncovers things, she will eventually be able to stand up for what is right.
4) I think she forged Sophie’s exam paper with wrong answers and swapped it.
5) I think it shows that humans in positions of power are just greedy and want control of everything and everyone while trying to make it seem like it’s for the benefit of all .
6) I think she hoped to gather whether the prime ministers motives were in the right place. I think this will change her mind on alot of things she thought she knew or could believe in. I think she’ll join the rebels and help the dragons.
7) yes I think they bonded when she helped her escape and she would help her again for the right reasons.
8)I think their relationship was nothing more than their common dislike for Viv. I believe that she didn’t give Viv the wrong biscuit on purpose, I do believe she intended to kill her.
9) no I don’t think she would have heard since it was a private moment between them.

In Chapter Twenty, the recruits are reminded of their purpose and the power that Ravensloe holds. What do you think of the dragons roaring to commemorate Dodie?
I found this surprising as the dragons do not interact with the humans much except for our main character.
Marquis stands up to Viv and tells her the same thing Chumana did, she is on the wrong side of war. Viv tells Marquis that he is the dreamer in this situation. But do you think its Viv who is really the dreamer?
I think Viv desperately wants her old life back, not realising that will never happen.
Will Viv let go of her cowardice and become brave enough to stand up to Wyvernmire?
My guess is yes.
What do you think Viv forged in Sophie’s handwriting?
The reason she got demoted.
What do you think of the extract provided from the Parliament of Beatrice?
I think what makes this book so good is the fact that we are seeing real life problems play out in a slightly obscured way. We can digest what is normalised to us in a new way. It makes it seem all the more despicable.
Viv confronts Wyvernmire in Chapter Twenty-One. What do you think Viv hoped to achieve by confronting her? Do you think Viv got what she wanted? Will her discussion with Wyvernmire change her actions and willingness to betray the dragons?
She wants to save her friends and family, but she is just a pawn.
Marquis as won his category without intending to and the rest of the recruits are now spiralling to save themselves from the futures they had before arriving at Bletchley Park. Do you think Viv could get Chumana to help?
I think Viv could do a lot of things if she took her head out of her tooshie.
Towards the end of Chapter Twenty-One, Katherine offers Viv a gingerbread biscuit made by Ralph. What do you think Katherine and Ralph’s relationship was? Do you think Katherine gave Viv the wrong biscuit by accident?
I do not understand the mind of anyone who would think Ralph is a good conversation. Bro is weird af!
Atlas and Viv finally act on their obvious chemistry to one another. During this Viv confesses what she did to Sophie to Atlas. Do you think it is possible for Sophie to have overheard this?
Imma say yes, cause the drama is tea.
