In Chapter Eight we learn that the codebreakers are doing much more than deciphering known dragon languages. What do you think of the echolocation and dragons using this as a form of secret languages?

The first day at Bletchley Park has ended. We learn that aviation is looking at planes that mimic dragons and zoology is focusing on eugenics. Do you think that there is more to this research than fighting the rebels?
In Chapter Nine, we learn that Atlas is training to become a priest. Do you think this training will have any implications on what the government is trying to achieve at Bletchley Park? Do you think there is more to Atlas’s story?
It seems that Guardian 707, or Ralph Wyvernmire, is going to be a problem. Do you think that he will let this one interaction between Atlas, Viv and himself slide?
Do you think his ego of being a Wyvernmire will continue to play a part?
As Viv and the team continue to try and break the code of the echolocation language. Which do you think is closer, morse or dragon language?
We learn that Soph suffered a lot during her time as a Third-Class. Do you think Viv will confess to being the one who sent her there?
Atlas mentions to Viv that she should return to the library and look at some of the books. Do you think what she will find will help her in her decoding or will it reveal something completely different?
At the end of Chapter Ten, we learn that Marylebone was attacked recently. Viv is seen spiraling at the thought that her young sister might have been caught in the attack. Do you think maybe the attack was played up? Or that this was a fake transmission to spur on the young team at Bletchley Park?
It is also clear that Ralph is taking out his anger on Viv and the other team members. Do you think he will be dealt with now that he has broken Viv’s arm? What do you think the consequences will be?

1. No, somehow, I did not expect any dragons at Bletchly Park.
2. I think that someone is lying – otherwise the dragons would have used it to communicate, as Viv had pointed out. (The dragon from Bulgaria and the guard dragons at Bletchly Park). I don’t think that the dragons are using it as a secret language.
3. Yes, if they do find a connection – she will definitely turn against them. She’s already spinning the narrative to make the humans the heroes.
4. Yes, I think Wyvernmire is using the teams to find out as much as possible about the dragons in order to bring them down. ‘Know your enemy’ and all that. She will use this information to hurt the dragons in some way – rebel or not.
5. Yes, I do. I think that his conscience will intervene or, if the government is trying to use the priests, they will be used to further the government’s propaganda. I think there is definitely more to Atlas’s story – he’s hiding something about himself.
6. No, he won’t. He seems the annoying, vengeful type.
7. Yes, definitely! His pride feels wounded now that he has to stay with Viv and the team and he’s going to make their lives a living hell because of it.
8. I think morse code is closer – there are lots of clicks and patterns in the echolocation language.
9. Yes, I do. Her guilt is pushing her closer and closer to the edge.
10. Knowing Atlas, I am unsure – he is very cryptic and a very odd character. I believe that she’ll find the answers that she was looking for in the first place.
11. I think that it was a fake transmission – what better way to make the war seem real and to make them work harder?
12. I hope so, truly. But considering the fact that he is a Wyvernmire, I expect nothing more than a slap on the wrist. -
1. No, I was shocked when I found out that there are so many Dragons there.
2. I think Dragons are doing this to have their own thing/privacy. I mean people study their languages so they can hear or understand them but what if they don’t want to be heard!? What if they just want to live freely doing their own Dragon staff without people interfering.
3. Ohh absolutely because why would she keep it from the Dragon Queen, she definitely have a hidden agenda.
4. Yes, I think the Prime Minister wants the recruits to develop something that is similar to Dragons but way stronger.
5. Considering how he behaves it makes you wonder if he try to disobey orders given to them by the government (guardian) because He thinks that the only person who should give orders is God!?
6. Noo, I think he will do his best to make their lives living hell.
7. Yes, he thinks he’s better than everyone because of his aunt. So he’s definitely going to make sure they know who he is by his actions.

9. No, Viv will never confess, she wouldn’t what to be judged by anyone. And she definitely doesn’t what to risk the relationships she has by confessing.
10. I think she will find something that will lead her into finding more answers about whatever the Prime Minister is planning to do.
11. It’s possible, prime minister is cunning and she will do anything to make sure the recruits develop some sort of hatred towards the Dragons so that they can complete their mission as soon as possible.
12. I think he’s going to get away with it because of who he’s related to.

2. It makes sense to me, and it would also make sense why the dragons do not want the humans to know about it.
3. No, I think she has other plans in place, far more diabolical than we expect.
4. Personally, I think the plan is to completely eradicate the dragons.
5. I do think there’s more to Atlas’s story. I also think the training will have implications, like he might refuse to do some things due to his beliefs or something like that.
6. No, he is one of those characters who will continue to be a problem.

8. I think it’s a mixture of the two.
9. I think she will accidentally let it slip, which might cause a further rift in their strained friendship.
10. I think he slipped a note in one of the books that will surely help her.
11. I definitely think there were casualties, but it might be played up to brainwash the team so they can move faster. It could also be that Viv’s sister and Sophie’s parents escaped just before the incident.
12. I think he is going to spin a story to make his actions seem validated.

1. No, I was quite surprised. While I knew that the government had a treaty with them, I didn’t expect so many to be working together. I kind of thought that they just lived separately.
2. I definitely think the echolocation is a clever form of communication. It ensures that dragons will always have a way to communicate without humans understanding them and I am excited to hear more about it and its uses because I have a feeling there is more to this than we know.
3. I do think she will. I have a feeling she wants to completely control or eradicate them and once this has been mastered the dragons will have no upper hand against the humans in this regard.
4. Yes, I definitely think it is all part of a bigger plan to possible get control over dragons and possibly gain insight into dragon eugenics to perhaps change human genetics or create certain types of dragons.
5. There is more to Atlas’ story for sure. I think as the story progresses we will find more depth to his character. I think that as a priest his moral and religious obligations will bring a side of conscience to the story as he faces the horrors of the war.
6. I don’t think he will. Ralph seems to be the kind of character that is like a bad rash that just keeps on coming back. I think he will continue being a problem for a protagonists.
7. I am unsure. I feel like it can go either way. It could, OR he could start learning the secrets of the government and then start helping the recruits. It is hard to say which way his character will go.
8. Dragon language. I think that humans are trying to find links in the easiest places – that being morse code. But i think that it is closer to being a language than a code.
9. Yes, I think at some stage the truth will come out. Whether by Viv or someone else.
10. I think that it will reveal something completely different. I think hoping that she finds the answers she seeks there in the library is just too easy for the story.
11. I think it was a real attack however I do think the attack was used as ammo to motivate the team seeing as they have family there. It was definitely a calculated attack.
12. I don’t think there will be any consequences for Ralph other than a slap on the wrist possibly. But being who he is, I think he is above the law to some degree when it comes to the recruits.

I most certainly did not expect a dragon at Bletchley Park.
I think that not all dragons know or use echolocation as a language and that perhaps only the dragons that don’t bow down to humans use echolocation. I think that using echolocation as a secret language is clever for the dragons that don’t want the humans to know what is going, but I am however interested to learn more about how this echolocation works with dragons, is it similar to what bats use?
At this point I think that Prime Minister Wyvernmire will turn against the dragons, as she 100% has a hidden agenda because why wouldn’t the queen know about what she was doing then if she didn’t have ulterior motives.
There is definitely more to this than just research about fighting the rebels because how does zoology eugenics have anything to do with the rebels? She is wanting to learn as much as possible about dragons to almost determine what is or are their weaknesses, to take the dragons down.
Atlas is training to become a priest will have implications on what the government is trying to achieve at Bletchley Park, as he will probably object what the government is doing based on his beliefs or he could be used as an aid to the government in preaching to the citizens about how good the government is. There is more to Atlas’s story, just not sure yet what it is.
Guardian 707, or Ralph Wyvernmire, is going to be a problem he doesn’t seem like a person that forgives and forgets. I think that his ego of being a Wyvernmire will at first be annoying but maybe he will learn some truths along the way and change.
Morse code seems to be closer to the echolocation language than dragon language because both echolocation and morse code rely more on sounds and clicks than actually words.
I do think that Viv will confess to Sophie because she harbours a lot of guilt about it and I think now that Viv sees her again after what she did she will want to apologise.
I possibly feel that Viv could find something in the library that might be entirely different to what she was originally looking for but what she does finds could help her just not with decoding.
The fact that Marylebone was attacked to me is possible that the attack was played up and that they Prime Minister is trying to convince the team that they need to solve this echolocation ordeal in order to help save lives and make the team feel that they are on the right side.
There will be consequences for Ralph now that he has broken Viv’s arm but I don’t think his consequences will be quite as severe as everyone else’s if roles were reversed as he is the Prime Ministers nephew at the end of the day and probably has some immunity because of this. He probably will just be shouted at and be told to go to bed with no supper.

I find the communication through echolocation extremely fascinating and how the many languages have different meanings. I feel like this way of communicating is secretive and could be deceiving, as humans can’t understand it. The dragon from Bulgaria has piqued my interest, and I’m curious to find that connection.
I found Sophie’s experience so heartbreaking, especially suffering a loss amidst it all.
Atlas, in my opinion, is leading on less that he knows; I believe he has a higher power in the DDAD or is apart of something greater.
Wyvernmire seems completely destructive in his behavior, and I feel as if his character is going to worsen and become more violent.
I think dragon language is closer; there are several to help break the codes.
I cannot think of any other reason for Sophie to be mad at Viv besides her knowing what Viv did to their test scores. Apart from Viv not reaching out to her, I believe its something deeper than that.
I think some punishment will be in place for Ralph but it wont be too extreme because of his relations but I feel as if Viv will be taken down as well.

If the echolocation is a true thing, I think it’s clever of the dragons to have their own form of communication for privacy.
Oh yes, I think Wyvernmire is wants to use anything and everything possible against the dragons.

I can’t quite place this Atlas character… He is not what you expect at all! Horse breeder and priest… I need to find out more about him.
Not at all. Ralph is going to exercise his power and authority at every change he can get. Especially against Atlas.

Yes I do think Viv will eventually confess to Sophie. It will get to a point where Viv’s secret will eat away at her that she can no longer keep it a secret.

It didn’t cross my mind at all that it could have been made up to spur them along… ! I believed it from the get go, and I hope that Ursa is alive.

1. Not initially, but I was hoping to see the “Library Dragon” – Chumana again.
2. It kind of reminds me of when we were kids and we invented secret languages so that other people could understand what we were saying. It was something that we held close and it was how we communicated with our friends and only our friends. Its probably the same sentiment (being able to communicate with your closest friends/siblings) and it was unique to your group as well.
3. Yes, she screams sus. Everything about her reminds me of any evil dictator throughout history. Selfish motives.

Absolutely did not expect there to be dragons at Bletchley Park.
Dragons using echolocation is super interesting. I can understand as to why they would keep it a secret as it may be the only form of langauge that the humans don’t know about.
President Wyvernmire seems a little suspicious so yes, I definitely do think she will turn against the Dragons once she knows what echolocation can do.
I do believe there is more to it than what we have been told. There’s no way President Wyvernmire would go to the lengths she has to bring a group of misfits to solve these mysteries. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.
I don’t particularly think that Atlas’ training to become a priest will directly affect the ongoings at Bletchley Park as I think his decision to become a Priest is based off another reason. However, Atlas knows more than what he is letting on and I’m curious to find out more about him.
Ralph Wyvernmire will be a menace for sure. He is obviously bitter at the fact that his aunt President Wyvernmire did not allow him to part of the group to help discover new findings about the Dragon, but rather made him guardian. Due to this he won’t let anything slide by him as he seems to want to prove himself to his aunt.
Ralph clearly thinks he is better than anyone and believes he can do whatever he pleases because he is a Wyvernmire. I can see this being an issue going forward.
Morse code is closer as echolocation consists of a lot of clicks and trills which is similar to morse code.
Viv will confess but just not at the moment despite her feeling so guilty. Only once her family are safe I think then will she tell Sophie the whole story but by then I think it will be too late.
I don’t believe Viv will find answers relating to her research but she will find information that is slightly unrelated.
The attack may have been slightly overplayed but not for the reasons of getting the team at Bletchley Park to work faster. I suspect something bigger happened at Marylbone but they covered it up so that Viv wouldn’t know what happened exactly.
Ralph is just looking for trouble wherever he can as he knows he will be able to get away with it. I dont think he will suffer any consequences purely because of his surname – Wyvernmire.

1) No I was definitely shocked that the dragons would be there, I thought that the dragons and humans just kept to themselves.
2) I think that it’s a good idea because it would make sense with all the studying of dragons languages that the dragons would want a way to communicate just between themselves especially if the peace treaty were to be broken.

2. I think the dragons already feel too invaded, there’s no privacy to their species and their way of doing things that’s why they want to keep echolocation a secret.
3. The way I see that is her master plan, why would she want to know everything about dragons if not to use them for her benefit or to destroy them.
