The Pime Minister reveals that the reason why Viv’s family home was being watched was because of her application to the university. 1. Viv’s application was used as an excuse to look closer into the family. I think that her mom’s research is what drove her parents and uncle to question the norm.
2. I think that understanding and speaking multiple dragonic languages opens one up to an insight into what the government is hiding.
3. I have a very difficult time to pinpoint what Viv did, but I think it has something to do with framing Sophie on Mistress Morris’ behalf.
4. I honestly do not trust the Prime Minister at all, I think she’s using Viv and people like her to further suppress both human and Dragon society.
5. The government keeps control of knowledge with the class system.
6. At this point it is hard to say if the rebellion will succeed or fail.
7. I think that Sophie’s mathematics training will play a key role in breaking the code along with Viv’s linguistic skills.
8. I think the previous group came took close to helping the rebel groups.
9. I don’t think we’ll see animo from Sophie and Viv being in the same group, but rather the 2 of them working more closely together than before.
10. Atlas King is a bit hard to get a good read on, but I have a feeling that he’s a first class citizen planted in the group to give intel to the Prime Minister’s office. -
I think her parents could have slipped under the radar had it not been for Viv’s application, which was what cast the spotlight on her family.
Although, with the high positions that her parents held, it could go either way.A degree in Dragon Tongues is reserved only for those who are loyal so as to not mistakenly equip a disguised rebel.
Once a rebel has studied dragon tongues, they would start up a movement.I have no idea what Mistress Morris could have asked Viv. She was short of 1 reference…. perhaps submit a fake one?? I’m really stumped on this one.
The job offer definitely sets off alarm bells. It sounds too good to be true. A trap maybe?
I think the government is keeping everyone segregated (dragons included) to minimise any potential threat of an uprising or insurrection.
I’m keen to see where/how the rebellion goes and how it plays out!
I’m glad that Sophie is “back together” with Marquis and Viv, even though things are far from normal. Having Sophie in the mix as well might spur Viv and Marquis to work harder at getting themselves absolved.
It’s ominous what happened with the previous group…
Since Sophie seems to hate Viv, I think there will be a big rivalry that brews between the 2 girls. Especially from Sophie, who will do her utmost to outshine Viv.
Atlas King is an interesting character whom I’m intrigued to find out more about. I’m not quite sure who to trust right now as every single character seems to have an ulterior motive.

There are so many untrustworthy characters in this story already, goodness. You wouldn’t know who to trust!
1. I think her family would have been under suspicion, either way. Her mother writes papers on the dragon languages, which is what the government already wants to stop – they’re already monitoring people’s interaction with the dragon languages. Eventually, they would have started watching Viv’s family.
2. The government is trying to snub rebellion as it rises – if a rebel or someone who could be easily swayed to go against government speaks to the dragons, they could potentially start another war and overthrow the government. In other words, to avoid any attacks or coup d’état’s.
3. Perhaps to break a rule of some sort?
4. Prime Minister Wyvernmire’s offer does seem insidious – I can’t help feeling that there is something she’s not telling Viv, or at least that she’s lying, either about setting her family free or about the war.
5. By keeping the dragons separate from the people, they avoid inter-species coalitions, that could lead to people actually getting along with the dragons and working against the government. With regards to the third class demotions, I believe that this is incentive for people to follow the rules of the government and to stay in line, as they have the fear of demotion hanging over them. Why would they rebel if they’re afraid of losing their way of living and their families?
6. The rebellion could be successful, considering that one group of scholars has already failed, and the fact that the number of rebels are increasing. There is also the small act of Viv working with a dragon, which could be extra fuel on that fire.
7. If Marquis finds out about whatever Viv did to Sophie to have her demoted, he wouldn’t speak to her and he’d be very angry. Sophie seems to dislike Viv anyway and could also turn Marquis against her, as she still likes him. Sophie being at the DDAD is going to negatively impact Viv – as she’s trying to make up for her past transgressions against Sophie, as well. This could lead to problems down the road.
8. I think the last group was either imprisoned, hanged or demoted to Third Class. It’s possible that they failed to provide any actual results with regards to the war on dragons, or perhaps they didn’t do as told and found out what was truly being planned.
9. Sophie and Viv will pick up strife as they work together. Sophie will possibly try to outdo Viv, while Viv allows it because she feels guilty towards Sophie. This could lead to Viv failing to do what she came to do in the first place. This could also negatively impact Viv and Marquis’ relationship.
10. Yes, I think Atlas King is a rebel. He speaks against the government while at the DDAD and he seems to have no respect for authority. -
This book is giving me Hunger games and a little of Throne of Glass feel! Im so shocked that Sophie entered the picture so soon. I think throughout their time at DDAD Viv and Marquis’s and Sophie will help each other. At first some conflict could arise with Viv and Sophie having the same role, but I feel as if some situation is going to bring them closer.
Despite the Peace agreement, I understand how the humans don’t want to get too comfortable with the dragons, so Dragonese and the degree should only be trusted with those deserving. Its so emotional when Viv thinks about Ursa, shes such a strong female lead
Instantly, when I thought of the previous group at DDAD, I believed they could have been apart of the Bulgarian war and did not make it.

I’m thoroughly enjoying this! There’s so questions that need to be answered.
1) Absolutely not as the Prime Minister stated that Viv and her family were being watched only after she had applied to the University.
2) The government seeks to shut down the rebellion thus allowing non loyal individuals to get a degree in Dragons Tongue would do more harm to the governments ruling.
3) I feel like what Mistress Morris asked Viv to do has to do with Sophie which resulted in Sophie failing and getting demoted to Third Class.
4) It does! Prime Minister Wyvernmire clearly wants this group of “misfits” to do her dirty work for her.
5) The Prime Ministers government most likely benefits from this arrangement by allowing her to gain power in some incredulous way.
6) The rebellion will definitely be successful as I feel there’s a lot of citizens in Brittannia that feel the exact same way as the rebels but are just too scared to act on their feelings. However, once they see others fighting they will join which will help to win the fight.
7) Sophie’s appearance is going to make Viv’s and Marquis’s time at the DDAD difficult as it will bring up a lot of feelings. I think Sophie knows exactly what Viv did which cost her her place as a second class.
8) The last group either rebelled after learning what Prime Minister Wyvernmire wants to do or they were killed due to underperforming and not finding results.
9) We can see Sophie highly dislikes Viv which won’t translate well to working together. Their animosity will result in them trying to out do the other.
10) Atlas King seems as if he knows something that the others don’t and speaks against the government. However, I don’t think he’s directly involved in the rebellion but rather just has deep hatred for the government.

1. Yes, considering what Viv Parents does for a living, I think they were going to be under suspicion either way.
2. Because of the rebels, if a rebel study and understands different Dragon tongues they could use that to start a war or manipulate Dragons and lead them astray.
3. I’m not really sure but maybe she suggested that she do whatever it takes for her to succeed even if it’s breaking the law!?
4. It does seem insidious, it all feels rushed, I think she took advantage of Viv vulnerable state and manipulated her into joining the DDAD and I also think she wasn’t fully honest to Viv about what her parents did or might have done.
5. To have control over people, if people and dragons are separated there’s no union. And people are always going to have fear lingering around, that dragons are going to turn against them one day and vice versa. This way she keeps both the dragons and people on a leash.
6. I think it could be successful that’s why the Prime Minister have DDAD in motion.
7. If Marquis finds out what Viv did to Sophie, it will put a huge strain on their relationship.
8. I think the last group might have been killed, and it’s possible that they failed because one of them might have rebelled against the DDAD or maybe they ran out of time considering that they are required to do a lot in a short period of time.
9. Ohh I think Sophie will try and prove that she’s better than Viv because of her failing her examination. And Viv will just take it because she feels guilty about what she did to Sophie.
10.No, I think he’s just suspicious about the government and how it’s moving.

1. Possibly, because her mother is also good with languages I think she was on their radar, maybe not as highly, but since Viv applied, it might have just solidified the PM’s mission to keep a close eye on the family.
2. I think it’s purely for manipulation purposes. You cannot cast doubt on a person who is loyal to the cause unless there is hard evidence against the cause.

5. I believe it’s a mind game. Show the people they can control dragons, the most powerful creatures on the planet, and people are less likely to revolt, in theory, of course.

7. Not sure yet, Sophie could be there as a spy, but she seemed just as shocked to see Viv there. A found-family might come from this.
8. I think they were killed. This sounds like top-secret business, so no way they will allow people out into the world after conducting these top-secret jobs.
9. Viv might start questioning herself and Sophie. Viv seems like a very devoted person to the government, and I believe Sophie is the complete opposite. There might be some fighting where Sophie tries to reason with Viv in the beginning too.
10. I’m not sure about him; he sounds trustworthy, but at the same time, he has this attitude about him that makes me weary. He also might be the love intrest.

1. I do believe they would have at some stage seeing as they are both academics. Perhaps they were already being watched or kept an eye on and this application allowed them to take a closer look at the family.
2. Because the ability to speak Dragon Tongues could be crucial to aiding the rebellion cause. Only those loyal to the treaty would be allowed this degree so that anyone who thinks of trying to recruit or work with dragons in the rebellion wouldn’t have the necessary tools for the job. This way the danger of having rogue dragons take part in this cause is minimized.

4. 100%, I believe she is doing a lot of shady things in the background and is using her resources to aid her own agenda. I feel that Viv is going to be used and discarded and that the promises made to her will not be upheld.
5. I think it is all about keeping secrets and maintaining control. The government wants to ensure they have everyone under their thumb to ensure there will be no further revolt against the government.
6. I do think it will be but a lot of things need to fall into place for this to happen. Including the help of dragons.
7. I think that this will become a distraction for Viv, I think that instead of focusing on themselves they will try to include her even if it jeopardizes their mission.
8. Perhaps they didn’t fail and they just didn’t stay useful to the Prime Minister. I believe they were killed either because of the previously stated reason or maybe they figured out what the government was really up to and tried to leak the information.
9. I feel like a competition of sorts will develop possibly. But also I think that the guilt Viv carries will start to get out of hand and she may come clean to Sophie about what she has done and this is where we could see animosity appear, possibly even effecting their mission.
10. It could go either way. He could be a spy that has been planted but ends up falling for Viv and thus changing course. Or I feel like he is a part of the rebellion group. It is too soon to tell.

I do think that even if Viv didn’t apply to University, her family would still have been watched. As generally people in power always try keep an eye on their rebellious counterparts. I think they used her application to University as cover for that they were watching her family.
I think that a degree in Dragon Tongues is reserved for those loyal, because it can’t just be anyone that is given all the knowledge and access to dragon information, it has to be to people that are true and loyal to the city because if this was given to the wrong hands it could be detrimental to the city.
I think Mistress Morris asked Viv something about breaking the rules for her success, but I am not too sure as I can’t quite place this in the book.
Prime Minister Wyvernmire’s job offer does seem a little insidious to me, it seems way to rushed and almost out of no where that she offers Viv this job. I definitely feel that the Prime Minister is using Viv and other people for their knowledge to aid her in her own agenda, whether this is for good or to keep the society unequal I am not sure yet. But keen to see how this plays out.
I think Prime Minister Wyvernmire’s government gains power from keeping dragons separate as then no alliances could be formed as an alliance, between the dragons and humans could prove to be more dangerous together than separate and the third-class restrictions always the government to keep control over who has access to certain knowledge.
At this point it is hard to tell if the rebellion will be successful as we only have most of the perspective of one side and not the rebellion’s side, its hard to determine their success at this point but I hope they are!
The fact that Sophie has excellent mathematics skills could be useful with Viv’s knowledge of languages and Sophie could further Marquis and Viv solving things a lot quicker. But I do feel that if Marquis does find out the truth about what Viv did to Sophie this could prove troublesome down the road for their relationship.
The last group either was killed or put in third class as they didn’t gather enough information OR they gathered the right information and found out bits of the truth before the Prime Minister could control the narrative and therefore they were killed. But I do definitely think the previous group is dead.
I think there will be a little bit of animosity at first between Sophie and Viv as Sophie has a lot of anger towards Viv but I think because they have to work together and that Viv feels to guilty they will resolve their issues and reach a better understanding of each other.
I don’t think Atlas King is part of the rebel group as he could be a mole to feed information and report back to the government, his hostility towards the government seem a bit to overdramatised and seems like he is over compensating on this to fit in with them.

1. Probably, her mother was writing research papers about the subject matter that brought attention to Viv. So I think that they were under watch even before she submitted her application.
2. Yes, it’s a connection to dragons that the general population doesn’t have. And with the Peace Treaty, its probably even more exclusive as a means of control.
3. No clue, there hasn’t been enough shared yet to make a conclusion.
4. Yes, why would she pardon Viv’s parents so easily?

6. It’s hard to say. They could make some impact, but not sure how much.
7. Its going to be strained. I think Marquis doesn’t know what happened and I think Sophie just feels abandoned without know the reason why. But Viv’s guilt will make it extremely difficult for her to be happy to see her.

9. I think there will be a major level of distrust from Sophie’s side, and its going to spread to the other team members.

1. I think that Viv family would have been watched either way because of the papers her mother writes about the dragons. I think her application to study the dragon languages was the last push.

1. I doubt Viv’s parents started recently with their business against the government and for that duration they managed to remain under the radar, so I don’t think they would have been discovered had Viv not applied to the university.
2. It’s power that it holds, knowing the language of dragons comes with its own unique advantages because of how powerful the dragons can be.
3. Mistress Morris might have had a hand in what Viv did to Sophie, I believe she might have helped Viv or pushed her to commit what she did to Sophie.
4. Most definitely, the Prime Minister doesn’t seem like someone who will just do things without having motives behind.
5. I think it’s all about controlling the system and classes, the availability of knowledge to every class might seem like a dangerous move according to her.
6. I think they stand a fair chance of fighting and winning.
7. It could go either way, Viv trying to improve a relationship she ruined or making it worse by confessing but whichever way it goes it will have a major impact on the story.
8. I don’t think they gathered much intel, they could have lacked enough knowledge about the dragons as there are many species.
9. I sense a rivalry, Sophie trying to prove herself that she belongs on the upper group while Viv is someone who doesn’t like coming out second best. Exciting to see how that unfolds.
10. That was my first thought, there’s someone about him that I do not trust. He could be just a confident third class but the arrogance says he has more up his sleeves.
