1. It was such a bad decision. Reflected poorly on her as a mother and strong woman. It will traumatise Lesedi and she will become resentful of her mother. Especially since she just witnessed her father being arrested.
2. It was a little overkill but I understand how it might seem to family members. Her presence, her relation to the Ntoi household and the fact that Sbu was being sheltered there. Also the fact that she was living with Rabe and not married. It comes across as opportunistic even though we know Moipone has no bad intentions.
3. Given the situation, I understand it, but it should been Rabe’s mother to ask her to leave if that’s why the family truly felt. Rabe’s behaviour was expected and obvious. He never loved her. He just settled. He was doing it to please others.
4. That took courage and vulnerability. It was a beautiful turning point.
5. I agree with Gal. It has definitely been about the accomplishments of Rosemary, but the poor decisions made by Gal did not make things any easier on her. That was her decision.
6. Epic. I can’t say I blame her. Although, part of me still felt sorry for Seun since he was in the room representing the family as a negotiator.
7. I was disappointed.
8. It certainly feels that way but I doubt it. One encounter is not enough to determine a perfect fit. Every relationship felt promising in the beginning until it turned. It could work out, but I’m not sure. It’s still too early to know.
9. It was a perfect ending to the story. It felt organic, realistic, complicated, messy, beautiful, hopeful and honest. I loved it. -
1. I think it was a terrible idea . And why dont they talk to her. They just ignore the whole situation.
2. A little expected due to M just arriving and making herself part of the family when Rabe clearly wasn’t interested. I think this was a good thing to happen to get her out of there.

5. No, I dont think her perceptions are correct but I do think because Rosemary wanted to better herself focus was given to her to get to where she needed to be to be able to help the family and I think Gal perceives this as attention away from her.

1. Lesedi is surely going to think that her mother puts men first before her own children. I feel like she should’ve just communicated that she wants a little break.
2. Urg that was sad to watch. It makes me wonder if that’s what she was subjected to the entire relationship. Well, she did kind of force herself into the family so I guess they were bound to chase her out.
3. The fact that none of the Mudau defended her shows that they don’t care that much about her. I think Makhadzi does have authority, it’s her brother’s house after all. I didn’t even expect Rabe to defend her, because he really didn’t want the relationship.
4. There was definitely growth in Rosemary’s character. It was a bold move, and it was the right call.
5. I think Rosemary has always been the star in terms of brains, self respect, and control. However, she has always been in the background when it comes to everyone and their chaos.
6. I was so happy when she did that. She saw that their presence makes Moipone uncomfortable, and she wanted nothing to go wrong on her day.
7. He could’ve at least communicated, instead of ghosting.
8. I don’t know hey, it could be but we’ll never know.
9. The ending was beautiful. I sort of wanted a prologue when the book ended, but I didn’t want to learn that Chumani broke Moipone’s heart. -
1. That was a bad idea; she is clearly jealous and was negligent towards her child as well.
2. They are in mourning and looking for someone to blame. But also she “forced” her way into the family, and she is not married so it feels inappropriate that she was there.
3. She probably does have authority, and because Rabe never really cared much for Moipone he was probably relieved she left.
4. Maybe Rosemary was misunderstood or maybe she didn’t communicate well in the book, but her growth was lovely to see.
5. No Gal’s perceptions were not correct, Rosemary was never really the focus.
6. Good. they are self-centred anyway.
7. He probably didnt want to upset his wife? He could have at least said something.
8. I feel they had a good, genuine connection. I think they found their people in each other.
9. I hope there is a sequel. It was a beautiful ending but would love to know: 1) what did Seun actually do at his mother’s funeral? 2) what happened to Sello? 3) what happened to Sbu? 4) Does Lesedi eventually know who her real father is? -
1. In that scene Gal gave me Keke vibes and I hated that so much. It will cause her children so much trauma and resentment.
2. The whole set up was wrong. They were never supposed to stay with Rabe’s girlfriend for that long. Makhadzi was just looking for someone to blame.
3. She had all the right to do so. Rabe showed that he really didn’t love Moipone. I don’t know why he couldn’t just own up to this sooner.
4. Rosemary honestly matured as the years went by and I love that she communicated her needs also instead of always being strong for others. But also asking her sisters to stand in the gap for her.
5. Not really I felt that Buang did the most for them equally so. Gal felt this way probably out of jealousy which isn’t her mother’s fault. I’d say Gal was the star and everyone kept showing up for her.
6. From someone that didn’t like Moipone it was so heartwarming to see Rosemary stand up for Moipone’s happiness.
7. Kabe is a busy man I guess but maybe he didn’t want to play happy family. I wish he had communicated that so Rosemary would at least enjoy the drive instead of being sad.
8. I didn’t think it was that deep honestly. I just felt like they both just wanted an escape.
9. The ending was beautiful but it left me wanting more. I hope there’s a second book.

1. I expected so much more from Gal and she continues to make bad decisions. This was a terrible idea leaving Lesedi and Mohle behind at a time when they needed her the most. Straight up bad parenting and following right into Keke’s footsteps.
2. Her aggression towards Moipone is so uncalled for. There could have been a better way to handle this situation.
3. Honestly this whole situation was stressing me. I wish Moipone loved herself more to not be overly obsessed with the idea of Rabe eventually falling in love with her – as that is the root of the problem. However, Makhadzi had no right whatsoever to interfere in this matter. It is clear the family loved Moipone even though Rabe was not on the same page which is a sad situation all on its own.
4. I loved that part. I loved Rosemary even more towards the end for her maturity and growth in character. I am so rooting for her.
5. That is not true, both of them have been given equal opportunity to thrive but Gal clearly focused on other things while Rosemary gave it her all and is now enjoying the fruits of her harvest. Gal was simply jealous that things have turned out the way they have as she also mentions that she didn’t think Rosemary would get married before her.
6. I loved this so much it warmed my heart. Rosemary did a good thing for Moipone. I would have done the same.
7. It was expected. Absent Dads only thrive at being absent. No surprises here.
8. I think they both had a good time and maybe it was a once off thing. I was happy to see Moipone experience the beach for the first time. Maybe Chumani might be the one?! But that might be awkward for Rosemary.
9. The ending was beautiful. I loved it and I hope we will get to experience these characters again soon!

1. That was such a poor choice. It frustrates me that no one actually addresses it with her, they just brush the whole thing aside.
2. It kind of made sense, given how Moipone swooped in and tried to claim space in the family when Rabe clearly wanted no part of it. Her leaving felt like the right outcome.
3. I get it. It’s like she never belonged in the first place.
4. Loved this! Truly stunning.
5. I do not think her view is fair. Rosemary was simply working hard to improve herself and because of that, attention naturally shifted her way. Gal interprets it as being sidelined but that is not really what is happening.
