What do you make of Xaden taking over looking after Violet? Why do you think he does this?
In Chapter Twenty-Four, it is not the first time that we read about Violet’s daggers being too big for her. What do you make of Xaden having one made for her? Do you believe him when he says that he doesn’t want to have a relationship with Violet and that the kiss was a mistake?
It is also in Chapter Twenty-Four that Violet has her first interaction with her mother since Threshing. What do you make of the coldness between the two. Colonel Aetos (Dain’s Father) is also very inquisitive about Andarna. What sort of answers do you think Violet’s dad might have found about feathertails?
Chapter Twenty-Five is all about the Squad Battle. We start the chapter off with the Squad Battle nearing its end and Liam securing victory on the matt. The last challenge for the day is the mystery task. What do you make of Violet’s plan to steal something from her mother’s office?
Violet’s squad won the Squad Battle and they are now officially on their tour of the front lines. Violet quickly learns that Rhiannon’s family is not far from the outpost. What do you think of Violet seeing Mira at the outpost? Do you think this interaction was planned?
During one of their discussions, Mira mentions attacks that aren’t mentioned in the Battle Brief class. Do you think its for the reason that the front lines are too active and that some attacks are classified? Or do you think there are other possible reasons?
Did you think Violet and Xaden would’ve been able to telepathically communicate? Were you also shocked when it happened in Chapter Twent-Seven?
Mira accuses Violet of not thinking her partnership with Xaden through (although there is not much to think about considering the mated dragons part). Xaden, however, quickly puts Mira in her place by saying that he is there with Violet and not the other way around. Do you think that Xaden would prevent Violet from reaching her full potential as a rider the same way Dain did?
It is no secret that Violet cannot stay in her seat and it seems that Xaden has the solution for that. What did you think when Tarin showed up with a saddle?

I honestly did not expect that Xaden and Violet would be able to telepathically communicate, and I feel it brought so much more to the book.
For them to have this form of communication just shows how bonded they are, and not only with their dragons.
I also adored when Tairn showed up with a saddle, and I just about screamed when I learned Xaden was apart of that. He is everything. -

I was a bit annoyed that Xaden can communicate telepathically. Ofc it’s an advantage but I would like my head to my own. I already have two dragons in there and now Xaden, too!
Love the saddle, Violet isn’t like any other rider, she should embrace that instead of fighting to conform.

I think Xaden takes over from Violet as a way to keep control of their relationship but to also force her to push harder.
Xaden having daggers made for Violet is honestly a little romantic if you ask me, he saw hr struggles, thought up a solution and made a plan to get it in her hands. I need my own daggers. That being said I don’t believe Xaden that he doesn’t want a relationship with Vi.
I don’t think there’s a way Dain’s dad could know what feathertails are, but maybe he’s suspicious.
Violet is both very brave and very dumb. It could end so bad for her squad if they’re caught but she also has insider knowledge that can help them rise to the top.
I don’t think seeing Mira was planned at least not by Violet, maybe her mother orchestrated it knowing she and Xaden are gonna be close. All the attacks not disclosed at Basgiath for me seems to be forming a mistrust of the system within Violet. She feels that these things should be shared even while Basgiath professors have their reasons for not sharing.
I was so shocked that they could communicate like that, it’s not something I saw coming and I’m wondering how it’s gonna add to the plot.
Xaden is 1000% team Violet, he would never suppress her, not before and even less now that their lives are tethered together.
The saddle, yet another massive romantic gesture from Xaden, whether he believes it or not.

I love a good touch her and die moment😏I think Xaden taking over also shows that he cares for her, but also want her to keep pushing herself.
Again, this shows that Xaden cares for Violet, even if he won’t admit it. And I actually do think Xaden thought it was a mistake, I think at this point he doesn’t want to further complicate his feelings towards Violet, and has perhaps convinced himself that he doesn’t truly care for her—that it might just be a mere attraction. Xaden also has a lot of underlying feelings about things that happened in his past that I believe would make him not want a relationship with Violet.
I believe Violet’s mother remains cold to protect her. As for Dain’s father, I think he suspects something.
I think it was a genius plan that Violet had to steel something from her mothers office. This shows how Violet can be an advantage in the riders Quadrant.
I don’t think it was planned, but I do think it was a necessary moment that needed to take place.
To some extent I think a lot is classified in battle brief, however I do believe there is more to it than they’re letting on. There are more reasons that have yet to be unveiled.
I remember being extremely shocked the first time I read Fourth Wing when Xaden and Violet could communicate telepathically. Reading it now I think maybe there were a few signs that it were possible.
No, I think Xaden wants Violet to thrive and grow. I don’t think he’d ever hold Violet back from her full potential.
The saddle was such a sweet gesture. It shows a spfter, sweeter and more caring side to Xaden, and it shows that he cares for Violet.

Chapter 24-28: I LOVE that Xaden wants to take over to ensure that Violet is safe at all times! Talk about touch her and 💀!!!
Pffft that man is in complete denial, he is absolutely smitten with Violence 😉 and the fact that he goes out of his way to help her.. oh my goodness!!! First the dagger then the saddle. Sign me up, I need a real man that will go above and beyond like Xaddy would.I think Violet’s mother remains cold and distant as a way to try protect herself from getting hurt, especially after losing her son.
I think Violet’s out of the box thinking / scribe thinking really does help her set herself above the rest. This can only work to her advantage.
I think it was sheer coincidence that she ended up seeing her sister, but I also think it did both of them the world of good. That is her stability and seeing herself definitely helped ground her a little bit more.
Also the whole classified battle brief tidbit does make sense to a certain extent but I do think that something is going on behind the scenes that they don’t want anyone else to find out about.I was definitely shocked the first time they communicated telepathically but damn does it make the story that much more compelling and addictive!
Not a chance. I think Xaden is an incredible individual who only wants to see Violet move from strength to strength. He would never treat Violet the way Dain has treated her.

• Clearly Xaden cares about Violet immensely and he feels something for her. These feelings drive him to protect her and help her harness her true capabilities. I love that he is protective.
• Xaden custom making weapons for her goes to show how much he cares about her and how much attention he pays to Violet to the point where he is constantly thinking about her and her wellbeing. Its extremely sweet and thoughtful of him. I don’t believe Xaden feigning indifference to their kiss coz that man is whipped.
• Violet’s mum is again being cold which sucks. Dain’s dad is sus and giving me the creeps regarding him wanting to research Andarna. He needs to keep his hands to himself and let them be. I do think Violet’s dad found out some useful information about feathertails.
• At first I thought it was foolish and would not be allowed and would get them into trouble but once she explained it better, its pretty solid
• I’m not sure… could be cold General Sorrengail’s doing? But I find that hard to believe.
• Again I think there is something else going on, on these battle fields…
• At first when we got to know Tairn was Xaden’s dragons mate I thought that maybe Violet and Xaden could also telepathically communicate but when nothing happened I figured not/false alarm. Ergo when it finally did, I was pleasantly surprised!
• nope not a chance. Xaden has always pushed for her to be better and to succeed even when they didnt even realize it. He cares for her deeply and I love that.
• Again Xaden is being so attentive and caring it has me melting out here. He is so attuned to her needs that he does it before Violet and us readers even know what’s happening. He is winning points left,right and center as a great book boyfriend. Major props to him 🫠♥️

Because of their dragon relationship, Xaden and Violet have always been physically attracted to one another because he becomes attached to her life when she bonds with Tairn, who is mated to Xaden’s dragon and they just have this special connection even the dragons do which is really cool

I find it quite interesting that Xaden is so into taking over looking after Violet! He is so into her but he doesn’t even know it yet. First he takes over her care and then he has daggers made for her?? Dude is hooked. Dude wishes the kiss was a mistake. But he knowsssss it wasn’t.
I wish Violet’s mom was more open to forming a better relationship with Violet. I do, however, feel that it is probably because she has lost so many family members before that she is scared to form a connection with another member and then lose them again. Stealing things from her mom might not have actually been the best plan – I wouldn’t have done it. If I was another first-year, I would have claimed ehr mother to help her.
Regarding the battle briefs: why would you share classified information with first years that haven’t shown their loyalty yet??

I think he wanted to take over looking after Violet because he knows if she dies, he dies, but he’s also starting to feel something for her.
When Xaden gifted her the dagger! I loved it! He’s just denying it, but I think he did feel something. The kiss might have been a mistake, but it was waiting to happen.
It was heartbreaking that the interaction between Violet and her mom was so cold. I thought that she might have changed towards Violet especially since she has made it this far.
I think Violet’s dad might have found something about feathertails, but maybe there’s more to discover.Violet’s plan to steal something from her mother’s office is to show her mom that she is capable of anything and she also knows that her mother has info that no one else might have.
I don’t think the interaction was planned, but it’s a major coincidence.
About the attacks and the front lines – I think it’s a bit of both. There’s something that’s being kept from everyone, perhaps to avoid panic but some of it is also confidential and the information is only available to higher ranking people.
I had an idea that they might be able to communicate telepathically because of their dragons being bonded and Tairn can speak to Violet telepathically.
I think that Xaden will be the total opposite of Dain and encourage Violet to reach her full potential and to see the heights she can reach. He’ll help her.
The saddle was such a kind gesture and goes to show that Xaden does care and wants to encourage Violet in being a great rider.

I think he is afraid to admit his feelings to her, he would not have kissed her if it didn’t mean anything – Xaden does everything for a reason. I adored the way he made a dagger for her – that takes time and effort. It’s not just looking out for himself but something deeper. But my heart broke for Violet and that feeling of rejection when Xaden said it was a mistake!
I thought it was mad but brilliant – the general is the highest rank at the college so it makes sense to steal the winning item from her office.
No I don’t think it was planned at all, but it was such a wholesome and heartwarming reaction from them both!
When Mira mentions the attacks, to me it seemed Basgiath is hiding something – why redact or keep only some of the information and not tell the students the most important? Something doesn’t add up.I was shocked! It was a cool realization that they could communicate that way though. So many interesting and complicated aspects to their relationship.
No, Xaden has always encouraged and pushed Violet to be the best version of her – he doesn’t coddle her as he knows that would make her weak – he strengths need to be honed to survive Basgaith.
My heart burst with happiness, although I was still confused as to why most dragons let their riders fall but Tairn would not allow that to happen.
