House of Blight – Day Seven

Where do you think Rorik’s hesitation stems from?

Edira is determined to find a way to rid those she cares about of blight. To test her capabilities, Edira and Orin will be working to get rid of the blight that has attached itself to the stags. We know that when blight affects humans, they have a very quick death. It’s different for Evers. What do you think it is like for magical beasts?

Do you think blight was sent by the Death we met in the first chapter of the book?

Edira has been trying salves to help prevent the aftereffects of blight. Do you think her medicinal armour is a way to protect herself from the blight or to limit the effects caused by blight?

What do you think of the conversation between Orin and Rorik?

What evervow do you think their father placed on them?

Did you expect Rorik to spare the lives of Briar and Zelyria?

Do you think the key to the cure lies with Orin or would Edira have more luck with Rorik?

Who do you think is haunting Edira? Knowing as much as we do, do you think it is her aunt Rowena? Or someone older and less known to Edira?

What do you think of Edira’s discovery of how Ywena deals with blight?  Do you think her new method will work with creatures who have been infected with blight for a while?

How many times do you think Edira will be able to pull blight into herself? Do you think there is a limit? Or do you think that much like normal threadmending, it will take time from her?

I believe he really cares about Edira and fears that this attempt to cure the blight will kill her and he doesnt want that fate for her.

I think because of their magic it could affect them in a similar way to the Evers. But without the ability to glamour themselves I think they do die faster than the Evers do but it still takes longer than humans.

I think it was and i think it was as revenge for being slighted by that first character because she hadn’t worded her deal properly, Death was able to use this as a way of getting back.

I think it is to limit the effects caused by the blight because we already know that she cannot be infected by it.

I think we are starting to see Orin’s true colours. It was very interesting and I hope Edira pursues finding out answers about what the conversation is about.

I think it had something to do with them not being able to speak about certain things.

No I didn’t but perhaps it was a moment to show his real character as well. He is not as ruthless as we think and would not hurt children whereas Orin would.

I don’t think it has something to do with one of them specifically but more to do with their magic possibly. It is hard to say.

I don’t think it is her aunt because i feel like she would have revealed herself by now. I think it is a Fernglove family member who is trying to remain hidden.

Possible. It is a way of adapting but i dont see it being a long term cure because without her these animals need to learn how to adapt to the blight by themselves before they are able to survive without Edira.

It is hard to say because she technically isnt getting rid of the blight, she is just transferrin it from one being to herself so i am not certain of what the repercussions of that would be.

✨The death of Edira’s aunt and all the previous threadmenders that failed.

✨Since they are magical creatures, it seems to take longer to affect them than humans but not as fast as the Evers.

✨I think so. It was Death’s revenge for being tricked, which has been affecting the world for years now.

✨Yes. A combination of her medicine and the Ever medicine helps protect and heal her quicker.

✨I wonder what the evervow was and why they seem to disagree about so many things. Something bad must have happened in the past and they blame each other.

✨I think it has something to do with heartbonds.

✨No but it makes me doubt where his loyalties lie for defying Orin.

✨I think it would lie with a combination of Orin’s powers and Rorik’s teachings. There must be a reason why Rorik trained her.

✨I think it is Rowena. She was close to Edira so she has a reason to haunt her.

✨Yes. I don’t know how it will work for human and Ever’s though because the blight is much stronger.

✨I think it is a form of threadmending and will shorten her lifespan unfortunately.

I think he genuinely cares for Edira and is concerned for her safety.

Because they’re magical, I think it probably affects them the same as/ similar to the Evers.

It might be. Maybe it’s the loophole as his revenge for being tricked.

I think it’s to try and protect herself and lower the aftereffects, so she can keep trying to cure the blight.

More secrets. I think we’re going to see Orion’s mask slip more as we continue to read.

This I’m not sure of. Maybe something to do with why Orin wants Edira to cure Mavis only?

I didn’t but it kind of makes me like him more.

I don’t know why the cure would ‘lie’ with either of them if Edira is actively working to find a cure?

It could be Rowena but I felt it was actually Mavis somehow projecting. I’m probably wrong though 🤭

I think it could work BUT, how is Edira going to find the strength to do this multiple times if she feels this badly after doing it once? It’s also not technically a cure, because surely they can get sick again? They need an actual cure to blanket everything to eradicate blight and stop it from spreading or reinfecting.

I’m not sure yet. As mentioned above, there a lot to take into consideration.

    1. I think he cares for Edira, but his family and their magic do not allow him to say anything that might jeopordize them or their position. He also doesn’t want to see her get hurt.
    2. Clearly, the magical beasts are also kept alive, either by their own magic or that of the Evers. They don’t seem to be suffering too much, though, and can obviously be healed, if the right threadmender comes along. Rorik also mentioned that they do adjust, even though humans and Evers cannot.
    3. Yes, definitely. And I think that Death has made it so that Evers cannot be cured of Blight.
    4. I think it’s to limit the effects (on her) that are caused by blight.
    5. I think they’re hiding something from Edira – a family bond – and I think that Rorik is on her side, while Orin has another plan.
    6. That they cannot destroy or hurt one another and cannot speak anything of their family secrets?
    7. No, I did not.
    8. I think she’d have more luck with Rorik, since he actually cares about keeping her alive.
    9. I think it could be another threadmender, that was also kept on the estate and died trying to help the Ferngloves.
    10. I think that it’s amazing, and that Rorik spoke true when he said that the animals adjust as is necessary with the blight. I think it might, but the method would still hurt and possibly kill her.
    11. Only a few times, depending on the severity of the blight. I do believe that the method will take time of off her life.

    – Rorik’s hesitation stems from guilt, hidden truths, and fear of what pushing Edira too far might cost her or him.

    – For magical creatures I think blight is slower than humans but crueler, it warps their magic and instincts, turning them monstrous instead of killing them outright like humans.

    – I do think blight was sent by Death. Death might be testing the Evers or punishing them for defying natural decay.

    – Both as it shields her threads from corruption and helps contain what she absorbs.

    – It shows how divided they are: Orin wants to push Edira’s limits, Rorik wants to shield her.

    – Probably an oath to protect the Ever line’s secret or to keep the corruption contained no matter the cost.

    – Yes as Rorik he clings to mercy when Orin wouldn’t.

    – I think Edira needs both of them as Orin holds power and Rorik holds secrets.

    – Likely Rowena, or something older using her memory to reach Edira.

    – Ywena’s method could be good for fresh infections but probably useless for old, deep-rooted blight.

    – There is definitely a limit as each time she does it, she trades pieces of her own lifespan and magic. She’s resisting the natural cycle of decay and that always has a price.

I think he actually cares about Edira, but he doesn’t have an easy time showing it. I think he doesn’t want her to be in danger for no good reason.

I think beasts become one with the blight, not necessarily that it kills them — but this is very far fetched.

    Yes.

To limit the effects, it doesn’t seem strong enough to protect fully. I think she isn’t immune to the blight and might end up getting infected.

    Suspicious.

That they may not hurt one another. There seems to be a deep rooted brother vs brother situation here.

Yes, I thought he made his point clear by killing one. All three didn’t seem necessary, and so I’d love to see what motivated him to do that.

I have a feeling it has something to do with Rorik. Looking at Ywena’s reaction to it.

I honestly have no idea. I am just as clueless as Edira right now.

I think she’s made a really valuable discovery and it’ll help the creatures, not sure about the Evers though.

I think there’s a limit. Or else she’ll lose her immunity and become infected.

I don’t think he wants to see anymore threadmenders lose their lives.

I think it’s something similar to the Evers – it works slower than with humans.

It could have been Death’s revenge.

While it helps her heal faster, I don’t think of it as amour – the Blight is too powerful.

It made me rethink the characters of Orin and Rorik. Orin is power-hungry, Rorik doesn’t seek to harm anyone.

    To keep a secret.

I didn’t expect that, these few chapters made me see Rorik in a different light.

Team Rorik all the way 😂

I know now who it is 👀 let’s just say I was not expecting it!

I think it will work with those affected with Blight.

This is different to threadmending so maybe it won’t take from her life at all.

Q – Where do you think Rorik’s hesitation stems from?
A – I think he knows that other threadmenders have died in their attempts and he doesn’t want this for her

A – I think that it is similar for magical beasts to the Evers

Q – Do you think blight was sent by the Death we met in the first chapter of the book?
A – I think it was, a way of him getting back at the first Ever who tricked him

Q – Edira has been trying salves to help prevent the aftereffects of blight. Do you think her medicinal armour is a way to protect herself from the blight or to limit the effects caused by blight?
A – I think that it is to limit her being affected by the blight and to help her recover faster.

Q – What do you think of the conversation between Orin and Rorik?
A – I certainly distrust Orin more and it upsets me, I wanted him to be truly good but it seems like he’s manipulating and controlling everyone.

Q – What evervow do you think their father placed on them?
A – Perhaps to listen to the head of the family and not oppose them?
Q – Did you expect Rorik to spare the lives of Briar and Zelyria?
    A – I think so, I think he’s more compassionate

Q – Do you think the key to the cure lies with Orin or would Edira have more luck with Rorik?
A – I think considering Rorik’s affinity to insects and their ability to not be affected by the blight, that the key to the cure lies with Rorik

Q – Who do you think is haunting Edira? Knowing as much as we do, do you think it is her aunt Rowena? Or someone older and less known to Edira?
A – I had thought it was Rowena but why would she be so mysterious and shrouded? Perhaps it’s someone else who can’t come out and say what they want to?

Q – What do you think of Edira’s discovery of how Ywena deals with blight? Do you think her new method will work with creatures who have been infected with blight for a while?

I think he doesn’t want Edira’s power to be abused. The more she uses it, the shorter her lifespan is going to be. The minute she cures anything, people are going to flock to her, wanting healing, and that’s going to drain her quickly.

I think it affects magical beasts the same way it does Evers. They both have intrinsic magic, so it’s not going to hit as fast as it does with humans, but it’ll still have the same effect just slower.

I do. I think Death is tired of people avoiding the inevitable and sees this as a way to rebalance the system.

No, I don’t think they’re helping much. She needs to figure out some sort of symbiosis with the beetles and bugs because they aren’t affected. Plants aren’t going to be the solution here.

Ooh, dum-dum-dum, the plot thickens. It’s obvious those two don’t like each other and this made it even more visible. I wanted to kick Edira for not seeing the signs of Orin’s true personality

Probably something simple like they can’t harm each other. You can see the tension between them, but Rorik still does Orin’s bidding, so I think the vow forces that kind of obedience.

I didn’t. That surprised me. I honestly thought he killed them. So good for him for not following Orin’s orders to the letter.

Definitely more luck with Rorik. I even said on Discord I’d prefer her to heartbond with Rorik, they have a better connection.

I think it’s a ghost or spirit we haven’t seen yet. We probably need more info about other kinds of magic. We already know Death is a spirit, so maybe it’s related to that.

I do think it could work. She’s already seen that the blight has no effect when treated her way, so doing something similar to the bugs might help.

Not many more times. She’s already suffering without magic help. Her body can’t take that kind of strain forever. There has to be a limit.

He knows that these people cannot be trusted and he is trying to save her without going against the house lead.

It seems animals have found a way to bond with the blight in a way that makes them stronger or more adaptable.

So, after talking to a couple of my discord homies, I do think this is the case.

Well, we know she can’t be affected by blight, so it must just to limit the strain it may have on her body.

When it comes to Orin or Rorik, my choice will always be Rorik.

I thought it was her aunt but now I think it’s someone else.

Yes, Ywena is a G. She’s cracked the code.

I think she won’t be able to do it on a large scale without it ripping her body to shreds. She’s not immortal after all, she has a limit.
