Lightlark Day Five

Oro explains to Isla that killing a ruler is easy but choosing the right ruler to kill is the hardest. Do you have an idea of which ruler and kingdom should perish?

Oro also shares that Grim shouldn’t be killed because he is protecting everyone from a greater threat. What do you think this threat is?

Why do you think the rosebush attacked Isla? Do you think it could sense her Wildling blood?

What do you think of Oro offering Isla his hand to bite down on?

Isla goes to the agora in hopes of meeting up with Celeste. Instead, a note is pressed into her hand. Why do you think someone decided to warn Isla that she was in danger? What sort of danger do you think it could be? Another ruler? Or something else? Or do you think it was to entice her?

Do you think sending people in her place is Cleo’s style?

Why do you think Grim is now adamant that Isla should keep her distance from him?

What do you think of Isla’s first visit to the Wild Isle?

When Isla walks back to the Wild Isle, what do you think is hiding behind the door? Do you think she will be able to open it?

What do you make of what Juniper says about The Place of Mirrors in Chapter Twenty-Nine? How do you think Isla will use this information?

After leaving Juniper, Isla runs into Grim. It is in this conversation that Grim offers to erase Isla and Juniper’s conversations from Juniper’s mind. Why do you think he offers this?

After an intimate moment between Isla and Grim, Isla asks Grim where he was the night of the curses. What do you think of his response? Who do you think he was with?

What do you think of Grim’s power? And Isla’s response to it?

It seems like Grim does know quite a lot about Isla. Why do you think he knows so much about Isla?

Towards the end of Chapter Twenty-Nine, Grim thinks that Isla is afraid of him. Why do you think she doesn’t correct him in his assumption?

In Chapter Thirty, Oro once again invites Isla out on the hunt. Why do you think Oro didn’t tell Isla what the specter wanted? What do you think of Oro believing Isla to be the most beautiful girl on the island?

What do you think the specter is warning Oro about? Is it the war Cleo is preparing for? The toll of the curses? Or something more sinister?

Why do you think Oro was so shocked that Isla wasn’t interested in him?

Were you shocked to read that Oro had given permission for Isla to visit the library?

What do you think of the end of Chapter Thirty-One?

    1. This is such a tough one 😭 If I had to choose, with everything going on right now with this realm, I would choose Moonling.

    2. Either there is a powerful villain lurking around or some demonic/evil force gathering. I don’t have many ideas as to what exactly, yet.

    3. I think the rosebush sensed something about Isla that aggravated it…I wonder if it was her Wildling blood or something else entirely.

    4. It was sweet of him to do that!

    5. I think the note was mainly meant to entice Isla. I do believe she is in danger in the first place, but the note was just to get her to follow…

    6. No, I don’t think Cleo would do that. I am unsure that Cleo is even the one behind the attempt 🤔

    7. Probably relates to the danger Grim could be getting Isla into if they’re around each other too much. Or maybe Isla’s intriguing him a bit too much for comfort?

    8. The Wild Isle being so empty and surrounded by death was quite sad when I read about it. To have the Isle be completely broken and powerless is haunting.

    9. I have no idea what is hiding behind the door. I thought about the bond breaker, but that seems a bit too easy…But when Isla went to her Isle she didn’t mention a library, maybe that is what is behind the door? Maybe my theories are completely whack, though, and I’m leading myself astray 😭

    10. It’s definitely an interesting enchantment that has been casted. I don’t know what Isla will do since she currently doesn’t possess any Wildling power. Perhaps Isla will find some sort of Wilding item, spell or any idea that could possibly help her.

    11. Maybe Grim sees Juniper as a threat to Isla’s safety and just wants to offer her an option for safety sake. But I wonder if there have been troubles in the past involving Juniper, hence why Grim spoke of his offer.

    12. I was laughing so much when Grim responded to Isla 😂😂😂 I mean there’s one dominant reason as to why he was in bed, but there wasn’t much information given so I wonder if it’s a completely different reason…maybe he was sick? Or something 😭😭😭 As for who he was with…imagine it was Cleo! Immediate side-eye.

    13. I expected a bit more when Grim was showing Isla his powers. It was quite…average, in my opinion 😭 With powers much like Grim’s being used a lot in fantasy lately, I expected something that hasn’t been explored yet. However, it was still cool to see! Isla’s response to his power wasn’t surprising, I like how she didn’t fear it immediately and gave him a few moments to show her who he really is.

    14. Either Grim knows Isla from a long time ago (a theory, probably wrong though 😂) or he’s been watching her. OH! Maybe he’s the wind that she was speaking about!! I think I sound crazy, but I mean it could be possible? Right? 😭

    15. I think Isla wanted Grim to believe she was afraid of him because she’s afraid of what they’re doing. Isla’s emotions were in disarray as well and perhaps she was just too confused to explain herself.

    16. Oro knew that Isla would not have wanted to go to the specter. He’s desperate to find a cure for himself and I don’t think he wanted to risk Isla saying no. I think Oro thinking Isla is the prettiest girl on the island is quite cute and sweet. If I were Isla I’d be kicking my feet 😂

    17. I think the specter’s warning is about something more sinister. Cleo’s war could be part of it, but I’d like to believe spirits deal with more evil beings. There’s something powerful brewing, in my opinion 🙈

    18. I wonder if his ego is just that big that a girl saying she isn’t interested in him just tilted his entire reality 😭 In all seriousness though, I think Oro’s shocked that someone isn’t trying to get close to him. Or it’s because he likes her and her declaration of hate just shocked him to his core.

    19. No, I wasn’t too surprised. It was sweet of him to offer her the opportunity to go to the library. However, I do believe he’ll keep his sights on her since her request was a suspicious.

    20. The bondbreaker not being there didn’t surprise me at all. It was going to be too easy at the end of the day, so I truly wonder if it isn’t in the Wild Isle?

🖤 That line stressed me OUT. I don’t know which ruler should die, but it feels like picking wrong would mess everything up way more than fixing it, but asof right now Cleos realm can up and disappear for all that I care😅😂

🖤 The threat Grim is protecting everyone from feels big bigger than anyone realizes. Not just politics. Something creepy that’s been waiting for its moment, and it’s coming.

🖤 Yeah no that rosebush did that on purpose. I definitely think it sensed something weird about Isla. Girl does not blend in, she thinks she does but she definitely doesn’t.

🖤 Oro offering his hand was wild. Like sir??? Hold your horses. Painful, intense, but also weirdly caring at the same time.

🖤 I think the warning was real. Someone knows Isla is in danger and it feels deeper than just ruler drama. Like secret stuff, someone trying to protect her, maybe even from herself.

🖤 Sending people instead of going herself? Yeah that feels very Cleo. She likes distance and control.

🖤 Grim telling Isla to stay away feels like he’s scared of hurting her, not that he doesn’t care.

🖤 I loved the Wild Isle. It felt emotional and heavy, like Isla was stepping into something she’s been missing her whole life.

🖤 That door is 100% important. I don’t think it’s just locked, I think it’s waiting. And I think she’ll open it eventually.

🖤 The Place of Mirrors sounds dangerous but useful. I feel like Isla’s gonna use it to learn something she might not like.

🖤 Grim offering to erase Juniper’s memory felt protective but also a little scary. Like he’s trying to keep things from getting worse.

🖤 Grim’s answer about where he was during the curses felt sketchy. He answered… but not really. I don’t think he was alone.

🖤 Grim’s power is scary as hell but also fascinating. Isla isn’t afraid of him, she’s afraid of what that power could do.

🖤 He knows way too much about Isla for it to be random. Feels like he’s been watching her longer than she realizes.

🖤 I think Isla doesn’t correct him because part of her is scared, not of Grim, but of what being close to him could cost.

🖤 Oro not telling Isla what the specter wanted feels like him trying to protect her… or control things. Also calling her the most beautiful girl on the island??? Sir relax 😮‍💨

🖤 The specter’s warning feels darker than just war or curses. Like something worse is coming.

🖤 Oro being shocked that Isla wasn’t interested in him made me laugh. He is NOT used to that.

🖤 Yeah I was surprised he let her into the library. That feels like a big deal.

🖤 The end of Chapter Thirty One made me nervous in a good way. It feels like everything is about to go sideways.

Oro explains to Isla that killing a ruler is easy but choosing the right ruler to kill is the hardest. Do you have an idea of which ruler and kingdom should perish? – I’d say Cleo and the Moonlings because she’s a bitch, but that isn’t reason enough for her people to perish

Oro also shares that Grim shouldn’t be killed because he is protecting everyone from a greater threat. What do you think this threat is? – something outside of the Lightlark system, a common enemy

Why do you think the rosebush attacked Isla? Do you think it could sense her Wildling blood? – it 100% could sense her, if don’t go near Oro

What do you think of Oro offering Isla his hand to bite down on? – romantic but also in a moment of panic? He had nothing else to offer

Isla goes to the agora in hopes of meeting up with Celeste. Instead, a note is pressed into her hand. Why do you think someone decided to warn Isla that she was in danger? What sort of danger do you think it could be? Another ruler? Or something else? Or do you think it was to entice her? – who would help her when she’s one of the two most hated people on the island? I smell conspiracy

Do you think sending people in her place is Cleo’s style? – yes, why should she dirty her hands and do the ground work

Why do you think Grim is now adamant that Isla should keep her distance from him? – heroism, ‘I’ll keep her safe by staying away because I’m bad for her’

What do you think of Isla’s first visit to the Wild Isle? – it’s a tragedy, I hurt for her

When Isla walks back to the Wild Isle, what do you think is hiding behind the door? Do you think she will be able to open it? – hidden Wildling artifacts, she’ll most likely be able to open it once she had her powers, or maybe it could lead to her getting her powers

What do you make of what Juniper says about The Place of Mirrors in Chapter Twenty-Nine? How do you think Isla will use this information? – how does Juniper know? She’ll most likely use it as a haven

After leaving Juniper, Isla runs into Grim. It is in this conversation that Grim offers to erase Isla and Juniper’s conversations from Juniper’s mind. Why do you think he offers this? – for her protection

After an intimate moment between Isla and Grim, Isla asks Grim where he was the night of the curses. What do you think of his response? Who do you think he was with? – he was honest, does it matter? It probably matters down the line but I don’t think it was with a ruler

What do you think of Grim’s power? And Isla’s response to it? – ooo show me more! I lik that she isn’t afraid of him or his powers

It seems like Grim does know quite a lot about Isla. Why do you think he knows so much about Isla? – he’s probably trailed her invisible, dug into her history, read her emotions

Towards the end of Chapter Twenty-Nine, Grim thinks that Isla is afraid of him. Why do you think she doesn’t correct him in his assumption? – I think she feels like she should be, to an extent, but to also protect herself and her curse from loving him

In Chapter Thirty, Oro once again invites Isla out on the hunt. Why do you think Oro didn’t tell Isla what the specter wanted? What do you think of Oro believing Isla to be the most beautiful girl on the island? – had he told her beforehand she would’ve said no. I don’t think her beauty was necessarily the card, perhaps the Specter just asked for the most beautiful to feel beautiful themself, and lucky for Oro, he was already working with Isla, not sure he would’ve been the first to offer ‘the most beautiful’

What do you think the specter is warning Oro about? Is it the war Cleo is preparing for? The toll of the curses? Or something more sinister? – time will tell, too many possible theories at this point

Why do you think Oro was so shocked that Isla wasn’t interested in him? – because he’s used to every female falling over themselves for a chance to be with him

Were you shocked to read that Oro had given permission for Isla to visit the library? – no, he said he keeps his promises, and she did fulfill her part of the deal

What do you think of the end of Chapter Thirty-One? – fuuuuucccckkk

🌸 Do you have an idea of which ruler and kingdom should perish? This is honestly really hard. It would be really difficult to decide. If I had to choose, I would choose the Skyling realm, Azul.

🌸 Oro also shares that Grim shouldn’t be killed because he is protecting everyone from a greater threat. What do you think this threat is? I am starting to think their os more to the curses than they are letting on. I think the person that created them is still alive.

🌸 Why do you think the rosebush attacked Isla? Do you think it could sense her Wildling blood? I think the rosebush attacked Isla because they could sense that she is a Wildling and maybe also that she doesn’t have power?

🌸 What do you think of Oro offering Isla his hand to bite down on? I think this happened to humanize Oro. To show the reader he is not only the cold king as we think of him.

🌸 Isla goes to the agora in hopes of meeting up with Celeste. Instead, a note is pressed into her hand. Why do you think someone decided to warn Isla that she was in danger? What sort of danger do you think it could be? Another ruler? Or something else? Or do you think it was to entice her? That was definitely a setup. The moonlings knew she was on their isle and I think they know she is the biggest threat. And knowing Isla’s curiosity nature, it would be easy to fool her.

🌸 Do you think sending people in her place is Cleo’s style? I don’t think so. I think they actually tried to do it without Cleo’s knowledge.

🌸 Why do you think Grim is now adamant that Isla should keep her distance from him? I think he is picking up kn her emotions and that it is getting more and more romatic between them.

🌸 What do you think of Isla’s first visit to the Wild Isle? I am surprised it took her that long to go visit tbh. I felt sad for her. It was probably really hard for her to see all that.

🌸 When Isla walks back to the Wild Isle, what do you think is hiding behind the door? Do you think she will be able to open it? I think it is something to do with needle that they are lookong for or very important information on how to get it.

🌸 What do you make of what Juniper says about The Place of Mirrors in Chapter Twenty-Nine? How do you think Isla will use this information? I would want to know how he knows all this info of nobody has been on that Isle for years. I think it will show hwr the truth in what she is seeking.

🌸 After leaving Juniper, Isla runs into Grim. It is in this conversation that Grim offers to erase Isla and Juniper’s conversations from Juniper’s mind. Why do you think he offers this? I think thay he is scared Juniper will share Isla’s secrets.

🌸 After an intimate moment between Isla and Grim, Isla asks Grim where he was the night of the curses. What do you think of his response? Who do you think he was with? I think Grim never wanted to be the ruler of Nightshade. It seems like he despises it. I don’t think he took his responsibilities seriously and was probably living it up.

🌸 What do you think of Grim’s power? And Isla’s response to it? I think that is why Grim is drawn toward her. She is not so scared of him as much as he thought she would be.

🌸 It seems like Grim does know quite a lot about Isla. Why do you think he knows so much about Isla? I strongly think that thwy know each other. Maybe she is an unreliable narrator?

🌸 Towards the end of Chapter Twenty-Nine, Grim thinks that Isla is afraid of him. Why do you think she doesn’t correct him in his assumption? Because then shw would give away that she has stronger feelings for him.

🌸 In Chapter Thirty, Oro once again invites Isla out on the hunt. Why do you think Oro didn’t tell Isla what the specter wanted? What do you think of Oro believing Isla to be the most beautiful girl on the island? I think he knew she would never say yes and he had to manipulate her. That was quite a shock. But also, we know that the wildlings are the most beautiful and is why they have that curse.

🌸 What do you think the specter is warning Oro about? Is it the war Cleo is preparing for? The toll of the curses? Or something more sinister? We all know that Oro is dying. I think the warning has something to do about that and Lightlark also dying.

🌸 Why do you think Oro was so shocked that Isla wasn’t interested in him? I think Oro believes everyone is interested in him because he is king.

🌸 Were you shocked to read that Oro had given permission for Isla to visit the library? Look he clearly knows she is up to something. He said so. I think he is leaving her ro do her thing so that he can se what she is up to.

🌸 What do you think of the end of Chapter Thirty-One? This made Isla’s life just so much more difficult. But I think this is when she maybe realizes it is in the place of mirrors?

    1. Choosing which ruler should perish
It highlights the weight of leadership. Oro’s point isn’t about violence, but responsibility. Choosing a realm to perish means deciding who is most expendable, and no one truly deserves that. It’s an impossible choice, which is exactly why it defines a ruler.

    2. The greater threat Grim protects against
If Grim isn’t the greatest threat, then something older and darker from his realm must be. He feels more like containment than destruction.

    3. Why the rosebush attacked Isla
It could be instinct rather than intent. The rosebush may sense disruption simply because her presence is other. Some magic protects itself without moral judgment.

    4. Oro offering his hand for Isla to bite
Oro recognizes that Isla needs control, not comfort, and meets her where she is instead of forcing help on her. By offering his hand, he accepts her pain without judgment and shares the burden rather than trying to dominate the moment. It’s a quiet, intimate act of understanding—allowing her dignity in suffering instead of taking it away.

    5. The warning note in the agora
It feels like bait. Warning Isla creates urgency and curiosity—two things she can’t ignore. Given Isla’s lack of alliances, this isn’t protection; it’s manipulation designed to draw her somewhere vulnerable.

    6. Is sending others Cleo’s style?
Yes. Cleo is strategic and cautious, using intermediaries to apply pressure while keeping her hands clean.

    7. Why Grim urges Isla to keep her distance
Because whatever he’s involved in would endanger her. Distance is his way of protecting her without explaining the threat.

    8. Isla’s first visit to the Wild Isle
It’s heartbreaking. This should have been a thriving homeland, but instead it’s hollow. The emptiness reflects the abandonment and slow erasure of Wildlings themselves.

    9. What’s behind the door on the Wild Isle
Likely knowledge—history, relics, or truths only Wildlings were meant to inherit. It’s her hidden library.

    10. The Place of Mirrors
It gives Isla a way to survive without magic—through strategy, deception, and physical resilience.

    11. Why Grim offers to erase Juniper’s memories
To protect Isla. Removing Juniper’s knowledge eliminates future leverage.

    12. Grim’s response about the night of the curses
His answer is deliberately incomplete. He wasn’t sleeping—but it could imply many things. It suggests guilt, trauma, or involvement he isn’t ready to share, and reinforces that he never wanted the power he now holds.

    13. Grim’s power and Isla’s reaction
His power is overwhelming and terrifying—capable of total destruction. Isla knows he won’t hurt her. What intrigues her is his restraint, because he could be king if he chose it.

    14. Why Grim knows so much about Isla
Because he watches. His abilities allow him to exist unseen, and Isla—being different, defiant, and Wildling—would naturally draw his attention long before she noticed him.

    15. Why Isla doesn’t correct Grim when he thinks she fears him
Because fear is what he expects. Correcting him would expose vulnerability—and possibly deeper feelings she isn’t ready to face.

    16. Why Oro doesn’t explain the specter’s warning
Oro withholds information to maintain control. He may also believe Isla would have refused if she knew, judging by her violent reaction to the idea of being possessed. He thinks she’s beautiful—if anything, it shows he’s cold, not blind. 🤣

    17. What the specter is warning Oro about
Possibly all of it: Cleo’s preparations, the strain of the curses, and something darker approaching. The warning feels preventative, not reactive.

    18. Oro’s shock at Isla’s lack of interest
He’s used to admiration and loyalty. He may have even thought she would use the wildling allure to seduce him and take what she wanted. Isla’s indifference challenges his identity and authority, which unsettles him more than rejection itself.

    19. Oro allowing Isla into the library
Surprising—but it suggests trust or a calculated risk. Knowledge is power, and Oro may believe Isla won’t—or can’t—use anything in the library against him. It’s harmless.

    20. The end of Chapter Thirty-One
It’s not surprising. If the solution were simple, it would have been used long ago.

That’s a tough one. None, if I could help it. Maybe Azul’s realm…? I’d pick Cleo because I dislike her but that wouldn’t be fair on the realm would it? lol.

I don’t know. Because of Grims power of darkness you would assume he’s the darkness or greater power that’s “coming” but if he’s fighting it, what’s actually going on?

I think that, and the fact that Isla doesn’t have powers to fight back.

Not going to lie, that caught me off guard. I thought he gave her a piece of leather, like his belt or something…

I think the note was to entice her. The whole thing was a setup.

If she wants to avoid being held responsible, accountable or penalised in any way, maybe. But in this case, no.

Grim is giving me whiplash. He needs to decide what he wants and actually follow through. And stop reading her emotions! Because they can be misleading.

It was interesting. I don’t have any specific thoughts on it though.

I think the bondbreaker is behind the door. It’s just a thought.

She might go there as a safe haven when the fighting starts. That way she’ll be on an even footing with her enemies.

To get Isla to trust him? Maybe when erasing, he can also somehow glimpse what he’s erasing, so it’s for his benefit too?

Wait, was he with someone?? Seems a little odd that his answer was so simple. Somethings up.

It reminds me of King Rot in the Plated Prisoner series. He’s powerful!

He’s been keeping tabs? Maybe he knows that she’d been sneaking out of her realm for years… He did say he could sense her.

Because she’s trying to stick to her and Celeste’s original plan. So she needs him to stay away.

She wouldn’t have gone with him if he told her before hand. Also, she’s a wildling, they’re known for their beauty. Doesn’t mean it’s a romantic or attraction thing. But he is hot and cold, so who knows.

I’m wondering if Cleo is also fighting this dark evil that Grim is. Maybe we have it all wrong. I think it’s something more sinister.

I think he was taken aback by her bluntness. She’s also not behaving like he knows the wildings tend to.

Not really. I guess if he wants what he wants, he needs to give a little too. But also, maybe because of her honesty, this was an olive branch.

I’m not surprised. It would’ve been too easy if it had been there.

If I had to choose I would say Skyling.

    An enemy outside of Lightlark.

Yes and they could probably sense she doesn’t have any powers.

Maybe a part of him cares.

When I first read that scene I thought the person was warning her. I suspected they were warning her from Cleo.

    Yes.

Maybe he is enjoying her company to much.

It’s so sad to know it was her first time. It definitely was a special moment.

I hope she finds a way to open it soon!

This made me think that atleast she has one safe space where no one else could use their magic on her.

To show he is willing to help? Or convince Isla he is on her side.

I was not expecting him to say that lol.
I have no idea who he was with. Hopefully not anyone we know.

Not me here reading and loving it lol. His power is definitely deadly. I like that Isla wasn’t scared of it.

He can sense what she’s feeling which makes her easy to read. Or there is some other reason we dont know yet.

She was feeling a lot in that moment and I think she didn’t really know what to say.

He didn’t tell her because he knew she never would have agreed. I had a feeling he found her attractive.

    Something more sinister.

She is probably the first female to reject him.

    Not really

It seemed to good to be true so I’m not surprised.

🫀 Cleo is building an army, this makes me assume her role will be important. Whether it’s against or for Lightlark. Therefore I go with Azul and his kingdom.
🫀 Honestly I don’t know, I don’t think that far ahead sometimes. I’ll leave it to the book to reveal these things.
    🫀 Yes
🫀 RIP to his hand, but also thanks I guess? Why not offer something else?
🫀 I don’t think she was actually in danger, the note must’ve come from the people who attacked her in an attempt to lure her in.
🫀 Yes, Cleo gives off “too important to do the dirty work myself” vibes
    🫀 They’re catching feelings AHHH
    🫀 It’s beautiful, exactly what I would’ve imagined.
    🫀 Not sure really
🫀 Our girl Isla is definitely going back
🫀 Maybe Juniper isn’t as loyal as Isla thinks, maybe him knowing her information is dangerous.
🫀 I think he was either alone just unable to sleep, or with Cleo. I have a feeling him and Cleo might’ve had something in the past.
🫀 It’s so insane actually, to bring death to that many things at once. Having that power is crazy.
🫀 He’s done his research. I think he’s really curious about Isla.
🫀 It’s easier for her to allow him to believe that, than to admit she’s afraid of her growing feelings for him because that’s more complicated.
🫀 I think Oro thought if he told Isla what the Specter wanted, then she wouldn’t cooperate. Okay Oro likes her, but man he’s a douche bag.
🫀 I reckon it’s the same thing that Grim is protecting them from, the thing he’s standing between. That might be the same thing the Specter mentioned.
🫀 He’s used to being desired.
🫀 Yeah, especially with how he behaved when she asked for it.
🫀 I called it. It would’ve been too easy.

    1. I think the hardest part really is choosing the right ruler because killing the wrong one could make everything worse. If I had to guess, I think the ruler who benefits most from the curses continuing is the one who should fall, not necessarily the most obviously cruel one.

    2. I think the greater threat Grim is protecting everyone from has something to do with the true origin of the curses or something ancient tied to Lightlark itself. It feels bigger than any one ruler and more like a force waiting to break free.

    3. I think the rosebush attacked Isla because it sensed something different about her. Whether that was her Wildling blood or her connection to the island, it definitely felt intentional rather than random.

    4. Oro offering Isla his hand to bite down on was strangely intimate and unsettling. It showed how far he is willing to go for her trust, but it also blurred lines in a way that felt uncomfortable.

    5. I think someone warned Isla because they genuinely want her alive, at least for now. The danger feels bigger than just another ruler. It feels like something lurking beneath everything, possibly tied to the island or the curses. It also could have been meant to lure her somewhere vulnerable.

    6. Yes, sending people in her place feels exactly like Cleo’s style. It fits with how calculated and detached she seems, letting others take risks while she stays protected.

    7. I think Grim is pushing Isla away because being close to him puts her in danger. The more he cares about her, the more he realises that distance might be the only way to protect her.

    8. Isla’s first visit to the Wild Isle felt emotional and grounding. It felt like the one place where she could breathe and be herself, even though it also carried a lot of pain and history.

    9. Whatever is behind the door feels important and dangerous. I think Isla will eventually be able to open it, but only when she is truly ready to face what it represents.

    10. What Juniper says about the Place of Mirrors feels like a huge clue. I think Isla will use it to uncover truths about herself and the curses, even if those truths are hard to face.

    11. Grim offering to erase Juniper’s memories felt protective. I think he knows how dangerous knowledge can be in Lightlark, and he wanted to keep both Isla and Juniper safe.

    12. Grim’s response about where he was the night of the curses felt evasive. I do not think he was alone, and I think whoever he was with is tied directly to everything that went wrong.

    13. Grim’s power is terrifying in how quiet and controlled it is. Isla’s response shows that she is scared, but also fascinated, which makes their dynamic even more intense.

    14. I think Grim knows so much about Isla because he has been watching her for a long time. Whether it was his duty or something more personal, it feels intentional.

    15. Isla does not correct Grim because part of her is afraid of him. Not just of his power, but of what caring about him could cost her.

    16. Oro not telling Isla what the specter wanted feels like him trying to protect her or control the situation. Him believing she is the most beautiful girl on the island feels sincere but also revealing of how emotionally attached he has become.

    17. I think the specter is warning Oro about something bigger than war. It feels like a collapse that could involve the island itself, the curses, or something ancient waking up.

    18. Oro being shocked that Isla was not interested in him shows how used he is to being admired and desired. Isla not reacting the way he expected clearly threw him off.

    19. Yes, I was shocked that Oro gave Isla permission to visit the library. It shows just how much he trusts her, or how desperate he has become.

    20. The end of Chapter Thirty-One feels tense and ominous. It feels like the calm before everything truly starts to unravel.

    1. I find great use for all the rulers and their realms. I don’t know which would be the best choice.

    2. Since the Nightshades were part of the origin story, I think their death could be detrimental to Lightlark. The balance between light and dark.

    3. I think it could sense her Wildling blood but probably sensed something else about her.

    4. That was a kind gesture. Very supportive.

    5. I don’t trust it. It feels like a set up by another ruler or an attempt to make her nervous. I suspect Cleo.

    6. As a warning, probably. She wouldn’t get her hands dirty unless required to do so.

    7. He is definitely concerned about her falling in love with him and he knows the Wildling curse is no good for him. But he is probably falling for her too.

    8. That was enchanting to say the least. It probably felt cathartic.

    9. Probably an ancient relic from her people or once a secure place to hide. I don’t think she will open it.

    10. I love that Juniper knows a lot. Interesting character. She is probably going to see if there’s anything she could find like a bond-breaker or similar magic.

    11. I think he is trying to protect her from curiosity or something that might get her into trouble in the future.

    12. Very spicy…that was my first thought. Although I don’t think it should concern Isla.

    13. This felt lackluster for me. I think it’s because I’ve built him up to be this powerful ruler based on the origin story but this didn’t impress me as much as I thought it would. He is definitely still very powerful and that could be wielded for so much destruction. Isla knows this.

    14. I think all rulers are fairly familiar with each other seeing that they study the rulers and their realms for the Centennials, but because he can sense her emotions and is spending a lot of time with her, he is getting to know her much better.

    15. I think part of her is scared of what their relationship could mean for Lightlark and about him uncovering her secret.

    16. I don’t like that and it keeps me skeptical about his intentions. Either that or he is trying to protect her somehow. Oro believing Isla to be the most beautiful girl on the island was such a cute and telling moment. I liked it. Heart flutters.

    17. I think the destruction of Lightlark. If Lightlark perishes, then it’s doom for them as well.

    18. Ego. He is probably used to people wanting to get closer to him. But more than that, she had requested his help for a few things from the time she arrived. She is always calling on him as a distraction so he probably assumed that was because she was interested in him.

    19. Not really. It felt like he was being a gentleman in that moment and he wanted to show her he can trust her if she did the same when he needed to be trusted as well.

    20. Total disappointment but I was weary of not finding it, from the beginning.

🥀 It feels like whichever ruler is most tied to maintaining the curses or the imbalance should fall. Not necessarily the “worst” person, but the one whose death would actually change the system.
🥀 Probably something ancient or magical that threatens all the realms, not just one kingdom. Grim gives very “doing terrible things for a bigger reason” energy.
🥀 Yes, it absolutely felt like it sensed her Wildling magic or blood. The island itself seems reactive to her in a way it isn’t to others.
🥀 Weirdly intimate and protective at the same time. It shows he is willing to endure pain for her without making a big show of it.
🥀 Someone either genuinely wanted to help her or wanted to lure her somewhere vulnerable. The danger could be another ruler, a trap, or something tied to the trials.
🥀 Yes. Cleo prefers distance and control, so sending others instead of appearing herself feels very on brand.
🥀 He is either protecting her from himself, from the consequences of being close to him, or from whatever secret mission he is on.
🥀 It feels emotional and disorienting, like returning to something that is hers but also unfamiliar. There is a sense of belonging mixed with loss.
🥀 Definitely something important and possibly dangerous, maybe tied to her past or power. I think she will open it eventually, but not without consequences.
🥀 The Place of Mirrors sounds like a tool for truth or revelation. Isla will probably use it to uncover hidden memories or secrets about herself.
🥀 He likely wanted to protect both Isla and Juniper. Erasing the conversation removes risk, leverage, and evidence.
🥀 His response feels evasive, which makes it suspicious. It suggests he was somewhere important or with someone he does not want her to know about.
🥀 His power feels terrifying but controlled. Isla’s reaction shows fear mixed with fascination, which is very on brand for her.
🥀 He may have been watching her for a long time or has access to information others do not. It feels intentional, not coincidental.
🥀 Admitting she is not afraid would make her vulnerable. Letting him believe it gives her emotional protection and distance.
🥀 He probably wanted to shield her from something disturbing or dangerous. His comment about her beauty feels genuine and surprisingly soft for him.
🥀 It feels bigger than just war. Possibly something supernatural, inevitable, or tied to the island’s fate.
🥀 He is used to being admired or desired, so her indifference disrupts his expectations and maybe his pride.
🥀 Yes, because it suggests he trusts her more than he admits or has plans that involve her learning things.
🥀 Chaotic, tense, and full of ominous energy. It feels like the calm before something major shifts.
