🖤 I think Isla’s nervous because she doesn’t want to let her people down, and she only has this chance to do something for them.
🖤 I don’t think he’s overpowered i think he has just enough to make ruling all of them manageable because i don’t know if I’d listen to a ruler if they don’t have my abilities or know what it feels like.
🖤 It sounds pretty but all libraries are pretty😂
🖤 I was hopeful for sure!
🖤 That moment was dripping tension and I loved every second.
🖤 I think he’s doing some sort of research.
🖤 Hmm I’m not sure could be possible.
🖤 I think it was a sweet gesture, and sounded beautiful.
🖤 It was interesting but im not sure it held the weight she thought it would other than getting her more information which is a good thing.
🖤 My favorite was Oros and Isla’s for sure
🖤 I’m sure he has his reasons but it’s also understandable that he doesn’t want to give any away or truly just doesn’t want to take part.
🖤 I think history was probably mis written on purpose and we won’t know why until we have more information.
🖤 I have no idea.
🖤 He went snooping in the woods for some reason. Not sure why but we’ll figure it out soon enough.
🖤 I think it was either somewhere away from everyone or towards grim or Oro.
🖤 I think everything happens for a reason including the way she was trained and brought up
🖤 Absolutely not. 😂
🖤 I dunno but that girly pop is up to something bad.

1. Yes, I think Isla is worrying about what could go wrong since so many factors are out of her control.
2. Based on the fact that he has all the powers of the realms, Oro definitely harnesses crazy amounts of power. I wonder if that is why he as to keep the fires on in the castle, so that it doesn’t get too much? Although, the interactions Isla has had with him (so far) makes me question if he actually has much power at all.
3. It truly sounds magical and I would literally go into the Centennial just to have the chance to see the libraries LMAO 😭 My realm would know that they’re all doomed once I set my eyes on those books 😂
4. Oh, I loved how Celeste managed to get the prints for the gloves! It was so intriguing and sly omg. After getting over my disgust at the thought that the gloves are actual skin, I definitely thought that it would work! 😭
5. While I was swooning when reading that part, I do have my suspicions. Grim is quite helpful, which carries no wrongs, however he does it without thought…He also didn’t ask Isla *why* she was there (unless I totally forgot that conversation LOL), which makes me side eye him a bit. It was super cutesie, though 🤭
6. Oro is just a mystery box at this point, we don’t know what we’re going to get 😭 I wonder if he just wants to get out of the castle for a bit or perhaps there is some element of interest within the forest that Isla still needs to figure out?
7. Honestly, his behaviour and interest in Isla is quite sudden so I have an inkling that he knows. He seems quite aware of Isla’s movements, if not everyone’s.
8. “Is bro interested in Isla?” Was my first thought if I’m honest 😭 I was like, ‘oop’, that’s a specific thing to show her…?? It was really cute and sweet, though, but I have too many suspicions at this point to fully perceive his actions as good.
9. Isla ate with her trial, I’m not going to lie. It was specific and in line with what their world would benefit from. Instead of showing off powers and focusing on finding rulers’ weaknesses, Isla’s vision existed after the Centennial and I love that about her trial!
10. I loved all the displays, I was lowkey laughing at Grim’s one because he truly does not give a damn😂 . All time favourite was Azul’s display, though 🦋
11. Why do you think Grim chose not to show anything?
Perhaps he didn’t want to reveal something important or of significance. I wonder if he is playing into everyone’s expectations of him and his realm for a reason. Or, maybe, like he said in Isla’s room afterwards, perhaps he just doesn’t care.12. History is written by the winners and I believe that certain facts got put away. The truth may have been a threat, as it always is, and instead of dealing with it those in power decided to sweep it under the rug. I think that Nightshade is being painted in a bad light for a reason.
13. I currently have no idea why, but I think it has something to do with Isla, Oro or the sudden secrecy from other realms such as Sunling and Moonling.
14. This leads back to what I said earlier, maybe he isn’t as powerful as he is letting on? Hence the reason to light the fires the whole time? I have no idea as of yet, just a theory haha 😂
15. I think Isla is battling with the path her guardians paved for her versus the one that she wishes to walk herself. Maybe her heart was pulling her toward freedom? I am not too sure as of yet.
16. Isla’s training was harsh and truly torturous. However, it is aiding her in the trials so far. Her guardians prepared her well, but it is quite sad that she had to go through such things to begin with.
17. Oh hell no. I would climb the first rock, panic and face plant on the ground. I also don’t think I’d be as stealthy as Isla. Everyone in my proximity will hear me gasping and fighting for my life 😭
18. Yes, I think Cleo’s building an army for war or for some violent reason. I have so many questions as to why, though!

Yes.
He definitely has a better advantage then everyone else.
Yes, It sounds stunning.
Yes, I had no doubts that it wouldn’t work.
His not making it easy to ship them lol.
Either he is up to something or he just wants to get out of the castle.
I don’t think so.
Every time someone is nice to her, it leaves me questioning are they just nice or up to something lol.
Her trial was such a unique and smart idea.
Most of them are really good, but Isla was my favorite since that could be really helpful.
He is so confusing!!!
I have no idea at the moment, but without that information, the Nightshade appear dangerous… even though that might not be the whole truth.
Maybe he was searching for something.
I think one direction was for herself and the other was for all the Wildings.
It was definitely harsh. She could of died many times but it also prepared her for the trials.
Nope 😂
Yes, I don’t trust her at all.

Celeste mentions that Isla has impersonated people from other realms before. Could Isla be nervous because of what is at stake? – yes, naturally, her realm is at stake
Do you think that Oro is overpowered considering he has the powers of all the realms? – overpowered as in he has too much power or overpowered as is he could be overthrown?
Do you think the Skyling library sounds like a dream? – I do, I also think the private section is hidden beautifully, so smart
Did you think that the gloves would work? – yes, I don’t think Celeste is playing around
What do you think of Grim helping Isla hide from Cleo without a second thought? – I think Grim has already proven his intentions in helping Isla, even though it’s not clear as to why as yet
Why do you think Oro leaves the castle every night? – yes, the Sunlings are hiding something
Do you think Azul suspects Isla of having entered his kingdom? – no, him giving her a tour of the mainland reflects on his initial intentions of charming her the day they met, Azul knows how to charm and impress, it seems to be part of his character- also shown in how his people respect him
What do you think of what Azul showed Isla? – the music tunnels or how he opened up about his youth? I think Azul is a good guy
At the end of Chapter Fourteen, Isla goes to Grim and aids him with her trial. What do you think of Isla’s trial? – it was a strategic move, what can the realm offer over what a ruler can do shows more of the people’s value in the long run
What do you think of each ruler’s display at Isla’s trial? Which one was your favourite? – I don’t like Cleo, her ships may come in handy though (trade, war) Celeste’s was a bit weak, too much power for such a small deliverable, Azuls communication method is very handy, Oros relies too heavily on the initial source, Islas has flaws (as do all but Azuls)
I’d say I ‘like’ Azuls best only because it doesn’t immediately present a negative counterpartWhy do you think Grim chose not to show anything? – secrets are a commodity, it’s also his realms first centennial, why disclose anything to the people who’d throw him and his realm to the wolves? Especially after we find out the founding of Lightlark
At the end of the trial back in Isla’s chambers, Grim confesses he does not wish to play a part in saving the realms. He also shares the true history of Lightlark. Why do you think this history is not well known? – because of perceived power, it’s too easy to rewrite history to make your story the heroic one, and to hide the less parts you don’t want to associate with
Why do you think Grim is there? – intel, to break his realms curse (perhaps he’s also looking for the bondbreaker
Why do you think Oro has effects from Giselroot? – he sneaks out his castle every night, he’s plotting something, looking for something, hiding something
What do you think was the second direction that Isla’s heart was being pulled into? Which direction do you think Isla chose to go into? – the direction that would have been expected of her to follow versus the path her heart wanted to follow, I think she followed her heart
We are constantly reminded of the training Isla had to endure to compete in the Centennial. What do you think of the training? Was it harsh or was it just enough to prepare Isla for everything she has faced and what she might face in the future? – Terra pushed her too hard, but not without reason, Isla needed it and most likely will still need it down the road, yes it was harsh but the other rulers and realms don’t need to play fair, it’s survival after day 50, all the training leads up to how she’ll handle things once they’re free to kill each other
Do you think you would free climb a castle in the same conditions that Isla is having to face on Moonling? – no chance, it wasn’t meant to be easy or simple
What do you think of Cleo building an army? Do you think they will be used to go to war? – I don’t like Cleo, I think she has nefarious intentions (she sat the previous centennial out – why is she back)

1. Isla impersonating others — is she nervous because of what’s at stake?
Absolutely. This isn’t a harmless trick anymore. One mistake could expose her, doom her realm, or get her killed. The pressure is intense, and she knows the margin for error is gone.2. Is Oro overpowered with all the realms’ powers?
Yes—and that’s exactly why it feels wrong. Power like that never exists without cracks. Overpowered rulers always come with hidden limits or a cost waiting to surface.3. Does the Skyling library sound like a dream?
A fantasy reader’s dream. Ancient knowledge, forbidden texts, buried secrets—I would never leave. Lock me in and throw away the key.4. Did I think the gloves would work?
I hoped they would (even though they’re gross, and I really want to know what Celeste had to do to get them). But nothing in this world works cleanly without consequences.5. Grim helping Isla hide from Cleo instantly — thoughts?
That sealed it for me. No hesitation, no calculation—just instinct. He chose Isla without thinking, and that says everything.6. Why does Oro leave the castle every night?
Secrets…Or something he’s desperately trying to control. Kings who disappear nightly are never just “taking a walk.”7. Does Azul suspect Isla entered his kingdom?
Yes. He’s far too perceptive not to. He might not know how it happened, but he knows something is off.8. Thoughts on what Azul showed Isla?
Intimate, vulnerable, and deliberate. He showed her truth rather than spectacle—something magical he chose to share as an act of trust.9. Isla helping Grim with his trial — thoughts?
It was bold and emotionally charged. I think she didn’t want to owe him for saving her in the hall, but that choice opened a door. By helping him, she invited connection—and something deeper.10. Favourite ruler display at Isla’s trial?
Isla’s. She stood alone and showed bravery and quiet strength. Everything she did came back to one thing: helping her people.11. Why didn’t Grim show anything?
Because withholding power is control. Hidden strength is more unsettling than power on display. He has a hidden agenda, doesn’t want to win, and leaves more questions than answers.12. Why isn’t the true history of Lightlark well known?
Because the truth would destabilize everything. History is buried when it threatens those in power—and it’s always written by those who want secrets to stay buried.13. Why is Grim really there?
Not to save the realms. He’s there for reckoning—for answers, vengeance, or collapse. Possibly all three. Time will tell.14. Why does Oro react to Giselroot?
Because he’s hiding something. Isla recognizing it puts him in danger—and he knows it.15. Isla’s heart being pulled in two directions — which did she choose?
Freedom. That’s all she wants.16. Thoughts on Isla’s training?
Harsh, brutal, borderline cruel—but effective. Terra didn’t train her just to win. She trained her to endure and survive.17. Would I free-climb a castle like Isla did?
Absolutely not. I have a fear of heights. I would fall or get stuck.18. Cleo building an army — war incoming?
Yes. This isn’t defense. She’s positioning herself to strike when the world fractures. -

🌸 Yes. I will als be nervous. The lengths she has to go to to blend in already shows that the importance of the task.
🌸 I don’t think so. I do think that it somehow can be a weakness as well. It must be tiring to have to constantly keep everything in check.
🌸 Let’sbe honest, any library sounds like a dream. However having the nature of the Skylings sounds like so much fun.
🌸 I think they will. I am more concerned haa to how they figured out it would work and how they came into that information.
🌸 I think we have established that Grim has ulterior motives with Isla. So he must have his own plans. Her being caught might throw his plans off so he had to save her.
🌸 I have no idea but I do feel something is up with the fires that constantly has to be lit so I think it is to do with his powers.
🌸 I think if he did he would’ve asked her about it or told the King.
🌸 I think it was so beautiful and comforting. I think Azul is a good guy and I think that he wants Isla to also see that. They need to pair up ar some point afterall.
🌸I think it was a clever trial. It gave her the opportunity to see different sides of each ruler and she was able to get secrets out of them without them noticing.
🌸 I did like Isla’s trial. I was surprised Azul won. With Isla’s trial you can see the destruction and the beauty in what their elixirs can do. That the Wildlings aren’t only bad.
🌸 I think Grim suspected that she wanted them to reveal secrets and he didn’t want to give them more power over him.
🌸 For the same reason that they don’t want Grim anywhere near them. They want to portray Grim and his realm as the bad guy and Oro knows this. This is why I don’t trust Oro.
🌸 I think he is there for other reasons but not sure why yet.
🌸 He is definitely up to something and that something took him to the forest. Maybe he is searching for a way to also break the curse the same as Isla.
🌸 I think it signifies her duty and het heart. What she wants to do and what she needs to do. Hopefully with Grim at her side.
🌸 oh ver harsh. Definitely. BUT we are still in the beginning. We aren’t sure what still waits for them.
🌸 There is no way in hell I would do that.
🌸 I think Cleo is definitely up to something and it is not something good. I think she is preparing for a fight. -

1. I think Isla is nervous because the stakes are so much higher now. Impersonating people before is one thing, but doing it here where one mistake could expose her or get her killed makes everything feel more intense.
2. Yes, Oro definitely feels overpowered. Having the powers of all the realms makes him almost untouchable, which honestly makes me suspicious. Power like that always comes with a cost.
3. The Skyling library sounds like an absolute dream. Endless knowledge, ancient secrets, and such a magical setting feels perfect for a fantasy world.
4. I really did not think the gloves would work. It felt too easy, so I was expecting something to go wrong the entire time.
5. Grim helping Isla hide from Cleo without hesitation really stood out to me. It shows that protecting Isla comes naturally to him now.
6. I think Oro leaves the castle every night because he is hiding something or maintaining something connected to his power. It feels very secretive.
7. Yes, I think Azul definitely suspects Isla. He seems far too observant to miss what is going on, even if he has not said anything yet.
8. What Azul showed Isla felt very intentional and personal. It was not just about power, it felt like he was trying to make her understand him.
9. Isla’s trial was terrifying but impressive. It really showed how capable she is even without magic and proved she belongs in the Centennial.
10. Each ruler’s display felt like a reflection of who they are. My favourite was Celeste’s because it felt more controlled and strategic than the others.
11. I think Grim chose not to show anything because his power is either too dangerous or too revealing. Keeping it hidden feels like a form of protection.
12. I think the true history of Lightlark is not well known because it would threaten the current balance of power. If people knew the truth, everything would change.
13. I think Grim is there because he has unfinished business tied to the island and the curse. It does not feel like he is there to win.
14. Oro being affected by Giselroot makes me think his power has limits. It shows weakness beneath how powerful he appears.
15. I think the second direction Isla’s heart was pulled toward was Grim. Even if she does not fully admit it, the emotional pull is clearly there and that is the path she chose.
16. Isla’s training was harsh, but it was necessary. Without it, she would not have survived what she has already faced or what is still to come.
17. No, I would absolutely not free climb a castle under those conditions. Isla doing that really shows her determination and strength.
18. Cleo building an army feels very threatening. It definitely seems like preparation for war, and I do not think it will end peacefully.

🌷 There is most certainly more at stake, being caught before would’ve mean punishment. Now it means certain death and everyone finding out her secrets.
🌷 Yes definitely.
🌷 I would love to spend hours in their library.
🌷 I did.
🌷 I giggled. I’m liking Grim, and the glimpse that we’re getting into his character.
🌷 I think he’s searching for a cure or healing, something that can reverse whatever he’s suffering from.
🌷 Yes
🌷 What Azul showed her is so magnificent, but I’m trying to see how it’s relevant?
🌷 I think her trial was a little boring😭
🌷 My favourite display was Isla’s.
🌷 I have no idea, and I didn’t think that hard about it either.
🌷 Oro had to have been looking for SOMETHING in the forest.
🌷 Power
🌷 It was wayyyy harsh, but damn is Isla prepared for just about anything that gets thrown at her. It is so impressive.
🌷 No 😊
🌷 Cleo is up to no good. There is a war on the horizon. -
@sirralton
1. She is definitely nervous. This is what she has been training all her life for.
2. I 100% think that he is.
3. I would live there. I could imagine it vividly.
4. I do think it will work. They went through a lot of effort to get it.
5. I loved that scene so much. I was on edge and I knew he would do it for her.
6. The timing makes sense given his curse, but I am not sure what he’s up to.
7. I think he does but I don’t think he believes she means any harm. Probably thinks she’s just curious.
8. I thought it was sweet, but was worried we might have another lust interest on our hands hahaha.
9. I love her trial because it was not about their selfish displays of power. It was about the greater good and impact. Genius.
10. I love all. Cleo’s turn annoyed me and Grim’s was expected hahaha.
11. He is a rebel and has bad history with Lightlark, so I doubt he cares.
12. History is typically woven to suit the people in power. I think the same can be said here. I think people also want to have someone to blame.
13. I’m not sure.
14. He must have been on a secret mission or meeting.
15. I think she was being pulled into a life of selfish fulfillment but scared of being disloyal to her realm.
16. I don’t think the experience of her doing it in reality is equally matched to the training she went through. She is supposed to be strict and diligent but she sometimes comes off as scattered and distracted.
17. Hell no.
18. With the fleets of ships from her realm, I think so.
-
Ricqui-Leigh aka @reading_in_the_dark_za
Definitely and also, probably because while she has trained for this her whole life, she’s starting to realise there are things she does not know.
No I don’t think so because having that much power must be tiring as well. Having to keep yourself “in check”‘all the time.
All the libraries so far have sounded unique and amazing!
Yes but I figured there’d be some sort of alarm that would be triggered or something.
This man knows something!! He’s being all mysterious but sometimes up. It’s like he cares for her. I need to know more!!
I don’t know for sure. Everyone seems to have a hidden agenda.
I don’t think so. I’m think he’s sussing her out. He’s curious.
I think it was really cool.
I love how she took a softer more positive approach. I think she has a big heart and truly wanted to show that her people are not monsters. That there more to her and her people.
I actually thought Isla should’ve won that one. It’s annoying that she didn’t.
Could be a strategic move.
I’m not sure why it’s not well known. Something must’ve gone wrong and someone needed to take the blame.
Not sure. Maybe he’s also looking for a way to break the curse.
I think she went with the stronger pull. Not the guardian, the other way.
How do the guardians even know how to train her, or for what? Because what she has endured is insanity and yet she seems to be of sound mind…
In my wildest dreams? Sure. But in reality I’m too unfit lol.
I don’t like Cleo. She is definitely up to something.

Ammaarah_is_Reading
1. I think she’s more nervous because now her entire realm is counting on her whereas before she only travelled around for funsies.
2. Definitely. And that’s why he’s so paranoid because he was raised with all the responsibility of holding this power. Others who would steal it won’t be able to wield it for the good of all.
3. No. It sounds like a wasteland where books go to die. if no one uses them then what’s the point of hoarding them?
4. No. Because it was unclear what the gloves actually are. I have surmised that it is made from the skin of other people but I could be wrong?
5. I cannot emphasise this enough, LOVE INTEREST!!
6. Because he is so used to being alone and cooped up so he needs some air and he needs to get away from all the people suddenly around him
7. Definitely but he’s not yet sure what she’s after.
8. It was so cool! A mountain that doubles as an instrument is so unique!
9. I think it was smart of her to try and remind people what they’re fighting for. Not just breaking the curses but unity and living together on one mainland again.
10. It was not as impressive as the power display but Cleo is definitely my favourite! No pomp and airs. Just cold facts. This is who we are and what we offer, take it or leave it.
11. Because he is playing his cards close to his chest. He doesn’t want to show his hand and what his people have before being accepted by the others as they might view it as a threat.
12. Because history is written by the victors, and Sunling did not wish to share the power so they changed the narrative.
13. To try and reintegrate the Nightlings into the mainland’s society.
14. Because he is doing sketchy things in the forest at night! Roling in the hay with a lady person, maybe…?
15. I think she lied to herself and chose the good of the people instead of what she truly wanted, that’s why the water tried to drown her. Because she was lying to herself and the others and she needed to face the truth of being selfish in order to survive.
16. It’s a catch-22. Yes it was very harsh. Especially for a child. Even more so for a Ruler Child. But it did somewhat equip her for the harshness of the Centennial, especially for someone without powers like all the other Rulers. So it was useful but it was still harsh??
17. Nope. Not me. Not it. Not anytime in this or the next century.
18. You go girl! Everyone being all secretive and she’s like *I’m preparing my people in case you lot decide to go to war, and I’m not afraid to admit it* and I think that’s awesome!

🥀 I think Isla is definitely nervous because the stakes are very high. And I think theres are some real doubt of her own abilities setting in.
🥀I think so. But also at the same time, I imagine it is difficult to master them all.
🥀I think libraries in general are magical but yes, it’s super dream-like.
🥀I do think so. There is some doubt when I first heard of them, because being able to impersonate a ruler seems to easy.
🥀I think he either really likes her or he has an agenda. He has a stake in her game.
🥀He’s probably looking for something or trying to find some semblance of freedom.
🥀I think so. I think Isla isn’t as sneaky as she thinks she is.
🥀Super cute! Super sweet. Almost like he may be sweet on her?
🥀I think it shows her heart, and what she hopes for for Lightlark. It shows how much she isn’t the monster people think she and the wildlings are.
🥀I loved Oro’s and Isla’s display. Both valuable and really interesting. Side eye for Grim.
🥀I think maybe Grim understands that his realm doesn’t necessarily contribute to the greater well-being of lightlark because they’ve always been the enemy and the bad guys.
🥀History is always written by the victor. Oro sits on the throne, so the story that works or is popular knowledge is the narrative chosen by him or his forebearers I guess.
🥀I think he really does want to break the curses.
🥀Girl, I have no idea.
🥀She is definitely torn between choosing herself and a life of freedom and choosing her people. I think she leans towards doing the honourable thing.
🥀I think her not having powers was a massive handicap and the training was cruel, but necessary to ensure she herself could be a weapon where her abilities would be found lacking.
🥀I think not. With her training, and the sheer torturous nature of them, she is far more suited to such a crazy task.
🥀I think Cleo comes off as inherently selfish (for herself and her realm) and I think she will do what she thinks is best for them.
