Onyx Storm Day Eight

Artwork by Gianny Filizzola (@giannyfili)

Violet was playing her own game and has also poisoned the triumvirate. Faris does not seem keen on playing nice even though he could also die.

It is also in Chapter Thirty-Six that Ridoc gets injured. Sawyer was the first to the squad to get hurt and now Ridoc. Do you think other members of her original squad will suffer the same fate as Sawyer? Someone between the lines of being a rider and a retired rider?

Violet has outsmarted Faris, but has she made a temporary ally that will help with the war or an enemy that will prove to be a problem?

When the mission squad lands on Zehyllna they uncover what should be impossible. Magic. What do you think causes this?

Some part of must have known that things, although bumpy, were still going far too smoothly. Trager is the first casualty of the mission. How do you think Cat will now interact with the quest squad? Do you think she will want to continue once they return the continent?

The loss of Trager does not come without a small victory. Zehyllna will supply an army to aid against the dark wielders. Do you think this was a worthy trade?

What do you make of the end of Chapter Forty?

I worry that someone from Violet’s squad is most likely not going to make it in the next book, I’m just hoping that it’s none of my favourite characters.

I believe the way that she went outsmarting him has made him an alley but for how long I’m not sure.

If there is magic on the isles then there must be something there that’s creating it, it also means that that land can’t be tainted by the venin, at least yet.

I still can’t believe Tragar is gone, that loss was completely unexpected and I really do feel for Cat after she just moved on from Xaden. I think Cat will be more determined than ever to try and save the people she cares about.
Whilst his loss is sad, finding an alley is very important in order to save more people at the end of the day.

I have a feeling someone isn’t going to make it and I think I know who.

Maybe both? It’s going to be hard to fully trust Faris.

It might have been home to a civilization before which has hidden magic.

I think it’ll hurt alot for her but she won’t let it stop her from doing what’s right. It’s not the best thing to “trade” but things like this are going to happen and we need to be ready.

The end of chapter 40, I was so excited because WHAT!!! I was not expecting that at all.

    1. Vi reminded me so much of Aelin when she got the upper hand! It was such a power move! I don’t think anyone else would be injured like Sawyer …it might be too predictable!

    2. I think the alliance is temporary. So much room for double crossing her in the future!

    3. It might be land that is used by the Irids, hence why magic exists.

    4. Cat is such an unpredictable being but I think she wouldn’t want Trager’s death to be in vain.

    5. No…it seemed so callous and cruel. And also an unnecessary death. It’s a moral dilemma.

    6. What we’ve been waiting for! It was so exciting!!

I believe that others in her squad might be in danger and not make it. If they are already in so much danger now, I can imagine what awaits them as the series continues.

I think the alliance is temporary until the next power move hits and loyalty shifts.

The magic must be caused by something, either the land, wards, conduits, or maybe dragons.

The loss of Trager was terrible and will affect Cat’s interaction with the quest squad. It’s now clear that no one is safe.

The end of Chapter 40 had me gasping! While I was excited for Andarna, I was also nervous especially with the greeting of “Hello Humans”.

I think it’s a worthy trade. At this point they need all the help they can get. I just hope that it doesn’t cost them in the end.

I’m not sure they all survive to the end of the series and it worries me, as we’ve grown attached to all of them.
I think Violet has made an enemy out of Hedotis for now.
Not sure what is causing the magic, maybe some kind of metal in the soil or some other source.
Cat is a strong women she will be heartbroken, but wither she will go on another quest, maybe if Drake is still there she will.
For the continent it is, a worthwhile trade.
The irids can speak to humans.

I don’t even want to think about anymore characters being injured. I’m honestly still traumatized from Liam’s death in Fourth Wing, and something says Yarros isn’t done breaking our hearts yet.

He might be an ally for the time being but I also feel like he could betray them and become a problem.

I assume it is something ancient and unknown that we will still learn about. Either it is inhabited by a dragon species, perhaps Irids, or someone is somehow wielding magic but that seems like the least likely answer.

I think she will continue, yes. I think her motivation will be driven by the loss of Traeger.

like most chapters in Onyx Storm, it has me sitting at the edge of my seat.
