Onyx Storm Day Ten

Artwork by @evaroseart

A lot happens in Chapter Forty-Six. Xaden informs the Navvarians that he is opening the borders to Tyrrendor. In the same breath Lynx manifests and he can wield shadows. What do you think this will mean for Xaden?

What do you think of Lewellen telling Violet to take a step back?

Could Sawyer’s victory of getting back onto Sliseag that start of the squad’s good fortune? Or is it just a small bit of happiness before we are all left devastated?

When we last saw Xaden, he seemed closer to the edge than ever before but when Violet returns to Areia, he still seems to be trying. Things are looking up… sort of. Is this the calm before the storm?

Do you think Violet and Xaden’s activities prove that Xaden might be saved? Perhaps he does have the control to not turn into an asim?

What do you think of Violet being in Xaden’s dreams? Is this a sign of how strong their connection is or is there something more sinister going on?

We’ve finally learnt Violet’s second signet. What do you think of her being a dream-walker? Do you think she could train the signet to enter people’s minds when they are awake?

With a hoard approaching from the east, do you think everyone in Aretia will survive?

I worry that Lynx ability to wield shadows is a bad omen that Xaden will fully turn venin.

I am beyond happy that Sawyer took the steps he did to get back on his dragon. I also love that Rebecca writes such diverse characters and characters with disabilities to show that that doesn’t need to hinder you in what you can accomplish.

Most definitely the calm before the storm, I love that he is still trying but knowing Rebecca.. something awful is on the horizon.

I believe Violet’s second signet is manifesting and we are about to see how strong she really is. I believe she will be able to eventually master it and enter people’s minds whilst awake.

I love this artwork so much!

Everything in this book happens for a reason, so the fact that Lynx can now wield shadows must mean something.

Lewellen telling Violet to take a step back is not good. To be honest, some parts did go over my head since there are so many characters to keep track of, but one thing I learned is to expect the worst.

I think Sawyer’s victory is to lighten the mood and just cast a ray of sunshine on a dull time and to show that something good can still happen.

I really hope that Xaden can fight turning into venin and this is just hoping, but that these moments will bring himself to the forefront and forcing the venin to the background.

I fully expect this to be the calm before the storm, something just tells me to be prepare for the worst.

Violet being in Xaden’s dreams opens a new can of worms and something else is definitely happening. It’s not just a connection.
Anything can be possible with the new signet, and I believe if she trains hard enough, it might help in future situations.

There are always losses in any battle, it’s just not clear who to expect we will mourn.

I think the reality is that Xaden is Venin and Magic likes everything in balance, he isn’t comfortable with it and flies out 2hrs later.
I don’t think Violet is happy with what he is saying, his interest is only in Tyrrendor, not Violet and Xadens relationship.
I think Sawyer being able to fly again is a bit of a reprieve before what is to come.
I think he is trying to show Viuolet it’s not just her fighting to save him, he is trying too.

Violet and Xaden need this time, Areatia is more home to them than Basgiath, they both are more relaxed here and the fact that Xaden has not channeled for 73 days gives them a bit of comfort to push the boundary. He is stable for now.

There is more going on with the dreams, the dreams seem to be referring to Draithus -is this foreshadowing?

the danger of her dream walikin is that she enters people’s minds while they are unconscious with no shields. if during the day their shields are down and daydreaming she may be able to walk in.

I’m sure there will be some casualties.

I think this means Xaden is all the more closer to being full venin.

It doesn’t sit well with me.

100% a small bit of happiness before we are all left devastated. this is a Rebecca Yarros book we are talking about after all.

yes, this has to be the calm before the storm. I also think Xaden is putting up a front as best he can for Violet’s sake.

I think it’s a combination of a sign showing how strong their connection is and perhaps a type of prophecy to say there is something more sinister heading their way.

In all honesty I thought Violet would have a different signet, but that being said I do think there is a lot to learn from dreamwalking—we’ve only touched the surface of it.
