1. I think that that poem shows that Prue is somewhat of a pessimist, which shows in the way she feels she needs to take control of everything. And true, this entire thing is 100% going to blow up in their faces BUT after? They will find their way through the wreckage and anchor themselves together.
2. I mean shes a writer so she shouldnt be upset about that, though she probably feels deeply about them, she is not a teenager anymore so such a reaction would annoy me. It is not as if its a personal diary – its her art.
3. I want to have more scenes with Aleks!!!
4. I think that their childhood scarred them so much and it is understandable that they have trouble connecting to each other, trauma like that is very hard to overcome – especially when you add in survivor’s guilt.
5. The moment he is able to share his burdens with his siblings!
6. That was excruciatingly painful. Poor Prue has really been dealt a blow in this life of hers.

I dont think it is fair on Milo but I do understand where Tom is coming from, it makes sense and its all good and well to insist that someone needs to make their own choice with all the information but sometimes people just cant. Prue will 100% sacrifice her entire life to take care of her parents.
8. I think its beautiful, I really like Tom. He is a good husband and a good father.
9. Its definitely a step in their relationship. They each struggle in various ways but I think they might be the strength the other needs.

I sincerely hope they do. I am really routing for them both. Milo needs this to heal from the past and Prue needs it to get through what’s to come.
I don’t know if I’m completely on board with reading someone’s private thoughts, scribbles and feelings. I understand his need to be closer to Prue or understand her better but I think he may have crossed a line with her poetry journal.
I cannot wait for her story! Black cat and golden retriever! I’m here for it.
It’s so sad to see each of them struggling when essentially they are battling the same demon. While I know it’s hard to verbalize your trauma I think the shared experience and shared load of the trauma would actually be helpful for all of them. It’s clearly affecting all of them – including Nik who has done some work to get through it.
He’s already considering this moment and Prue might be the anchor he needs but he won’t feel safe until she also feels ready to anchor in place.
I did not see it coming! I thought it was going to be Nik or one of his kids!!
I understand why he needs her to make the choice on her own but asking Milo to keep the secret is inevitably going to affect Prue’s trust in him….

This is what each of them needs. They have not had this experience of sharing their load with someone else and I think they really need it. It just proves Toms assessment of how you know it’s the one.

I hope both of them stay in a way that’s fair to Prue. Maybe a cute honeymoon so she can see some of the world but ultimately stay surrounded by her family which will includes Milo’s family.
In the worst way. I don’t think Prue is going to take it well in general but the added element of what she will see as betrayal will just make it worse.
It seems so pure! Stef is a gem and must be protected at all costs!
Genuinely internalizing this and applying it to my own life. It makes so much sense.

I believe that it speaks of many relationships, Prue has had in these few weeks known of many relationships, her parents now and from thr past, as well as, the one she’s seen with Nik and Stef for instance but now it also includes her own… which very much involves her feelings of possibly saying goodbye to Milo at the end of this… its such a great poem that we can all relate to it. Very emotive.
2. I think that Prue wouldn’t mind especially through all their banter Milo did mention that he would like to read her poems. I think its wonderful especially to try and get to know her brilliant mind.
3. I love it… it makes me curious about what’s going on with Nadia and look forward to the next book.
4. I think that it was important for us to know what really happened during their childhood. Moreover, Nik gave Milo some great advice that we you’re not forced to forgive but you can wish their parents the best in order to move on and heal yourself. I would love Nadia and Milo to enroll in therapy as it helped Nik.

1. To me, it felt more like Prue spiralling; it was her insecurities and fears spilling onto the page because she doesn’t really know what Milo is going to choose. It’s not a prediction, it’s a reflection of her anxiety and uncertainty.
2. When you’re down bad for someone, you just want to know everything about them. Every tiny puzzle piece makes you feel closer. I don’t think Prue would be too upset, maybe a little annoyed. BUT I don’t think she sees her journals as deeply private since she shares one with her dad at the shop.
3. I cannot wait for her and Alek’s story. After watching Hannah’s live and seeing how it’s teased in this book, I’m itching for it.

They’re bonded by shared trauma, yes, but they’re also learning to be optimistic and choose a better path forward.

6. I was really upset. It feels so unfair to Prue. She’s already losing her mom to memory and now faces the possibility of losing her father too. It’s heartbreaking because she’s being asked to bear so much. It’s one of those moments that just feels cruel.

8. I loved it. I actually asked my husband the same question after reading that scene, and he couldn’t really answer… which just made me love Tom’s response even more. It was such a beautiful, honest take.

A big part of a relationship is not just physical connection, but having that emotional connection and having that person be your person to help you with the struggles that you go through in the good and the bad. And I really like to see that part of the relationship, especially since a lot of the attraction in the beginning was based on physical. It was nice to see an emotional element come out.
10. I think there’s a very high likelihood that this can happen. As we know, they’ll end up together. This is a romance. So I think the epilogue might actually be a view into how right her story was.
11. I really hope there’s no third-act breakup. Like, I despise that trope. So I really hope neither of them walks away and that they just work through whatever they’re going through.
12. I think Prue’s going to stumble upon something, maybe a note or overhear something, and when she confronts Milo, his reactions will give everything away. So she’ll have to deal with him lying to her as well as coming to terms with the fact that her father might die pretty soon.
13. Their relationship is absolutely beautiful. They’ve built such a supportive relationship but it’s also deeply protective of one another.
14. I loved that metaphor. It’s such a powerful reminder that forgiveness isn’t always possible, but peace is. You can’t control what others have done, but you can choose what you allow to take up space in your life and who you invite into your circle.

I can understand why he is doing it but he shouldn’t have read journal after journal without her permission incase she didn’t want anyone reading some entries.
She deserves love and I hope she realizes this.

2. I feel like Prue might be upset as it is very personal. When he asked earlier in the book to read her poetry she put a pin in it till later.

4. I think that they love each other, but their relationship is very complicated. It is clear there is some regret on how certain things were handled. The impact of their parents are quite sad and I think that Nik is honestly trying to make the best of it and trying to be better than his own parents.

I feel like they have a lot to work through together and that they are stronger together, but all of them do still struggle with the trauma of their pasts.
I think once he realises he is safe within the relationships with those around him – his siblings, Prue, her family etc. He just needs to feel safe.
I found it really heartbreaking and feel sorry for Tom having to deal with all of this too. I do feel like he put Milo in a different position though, but he had good intentions with it.
I don’t think Tom was being fair at all, but I do feel like he was trying to consider his daughter in that moment.
It was really beautiful and heartwarming.
I am happy that they started opening up to one another like that – both of them need someone to confide in and someone who supports them and neither of them have truly had that before.

1) At first I thought the poem was specific to Prue and Milo, and the romantic in me is hoping that they do find a way- but I do think it can be used across the various relationships (familial and friendships) in the book. Each of them have their anchor or are still searching for something or someone to anchor them.
2) I think she would be a bit upset by it – especially as he hasn’t shared his drawings with her. But I can understand why, this is a new feeling for him, and he wants to know everything about her.
3) I feel so sad for Nadia – although we know little about her, I do feel she deserves the love she wants, not what she thinks she’s owed because she’s not “nice” like Aleks. So I really hope her & Aleks’ story are the centre of Book 2.
4) We would have hoped their relationship with each other would be closer and stronger because of what they had to endure as children, but there is still a lot of resentment (from those who were left behind) and regret (from those who left) that needs to be dealth with. Their parents and childhood still impact their lives (Milo’s running away & Nadia’s detachment) but they need to talk about it – especially as Nik wants to deal with it together.
5) When Milo feels safe enough to be himself not only with Prue but also his family.
6) That was quite the twist and my heart goes out to Prue. This is a very big, life altering situation. I also don’t think it’s fair that a) Tom waits so long to tell Prue and b) Tell’s Milo and then asks him to keep it a secret. Especially as we see that Milo wants to stop running away, and Tom has asked him to basically convince Prue to leave. I get wanting Prue to make the decision for herself, but as someone who needs all the facts first before making a decision, it’s not fair.
7) It’s beautiful – and he’s right. Life with the one is measured in Before Them and After Them. Because you never want to imagine a life without them again.
8) This is a very big step, not only for friendship – it takes a lot to share your struggles and weaknesses. They are both falling hard.
