People Watching – Day Three

What do you think of Milo’s way of turning things around? Would you be tempted to try and trick your brain?

Milo is quick to offer help. Do you think that this is as much for him as it is for Prue’s mother?

Prue counters Milo’s offer. She asks that he spends one hour with her mother and the other with her. How do you think this time will be spent?

It’s nearly Prue’s twenty-fifth birthday and her father would love to throw her a party. Twenty-five is a big age to turn. Are you someone who enjoys throwing parties for others or do you (probably like Milo) enjoy being celebrated?

Milo seems to be able to bring out the mother Prue knows. Do you think that between the painting and Milo being there, the days might just be a bit easier?

For the first time in Chapter Eleven, we learn that Milo may be scared to fall in love. What do you think of his realisation towards the end of the chapter?

Prue’s birthday party comes around quite quickly and things have been a bit chaotic since the baby arrived.

Did you think the baby would be here so early?

What do you think of Milo coming to find Prue despite everything?

Milo gifts Prue flowers. Gently used flowers but flowers nonetheless. What do you think of this gift?

Did you think the story behind the “dare” tattoo would be wilder? Or is it exactly what you’ve started to expect from Milo?

What do you think of how quickly things shifted in Chapter Thirteen?

Prue and Milo strike up a deal. We can all probably see where it will go but who do you think will chicken out first?

    1. I actually love that idea. It’s such a clever way to distract your brain from spiraling into negative thoughts and emotions. Just letting yourself be free and happy for a while naturally releases endorphins, and those endorphins can make you feel a little lighter and better.

    2. I think it’s more for her. Milo seems like an inherently kind person. With his nomadic lifestyle, he has probably met many people from diverse backgrounds and learned how to connect with them easily. Helping others feels natural to him, not forced. It’s not self-serving, it’s just who he is.

    3. I hope Milo uses that time to push Prue out of her comfort zone a bit and help her experience things she normally wouldn’t.

    4. I’m definitely the planner. I love putting together parties and celebrations for other people, but I don’t enjoy being celebrated myself. I’ll plan things to the nth degree, but when it comes to my own birthday’s I don’t like celebrating.

    5. Milo brings this sense of levity and warmth that balances the heaviness of what Prue and her father are going through. His free-spirited nature softens the tension and helps them all breathe a little easier. That balance is probably what will draw him and Prue even closer together.

    6. I think everyone goes through a phase where love feels scary because of what it could mean and what it could cost. For Milo, it’s clear that his fear ties back to his emotional history and the way he avoids deeper feelings. I think he’s going to realise it’s not as terrifying as he thinks.

    7. The fact that the baby came so soon definitely hints that there’s something more happening behind the scenes than just a surprise birth.

    8. It was adorably sweet. The fact that he heard she was spending her birthday “alone” on the deck and decided no one should be alone on their birthday was just wholesome and lovely. It made me want to hug them both.

    9. I think it’s precious. Even though they weren’t perfect, it shows how much he cares. He couldn’t show up empty-handed, and that little act says so much about his thoughtfulness. Yes they might have been because of a push from Sef but he still brought them along…

    10. It was exactly what I expected. The second he said it came from a truth-or-dare game with a bunch of girls, I knew it would end up being something sexual and kinky.

    11. I was quite surprised by how much Prue was driving, given how sexually sheltered she is, but the chapter did spend a lot of time explaining that she was basically on the verge of being drunk. So that was probably why she wasn’t behaving in the same way that she typically would have if she wasn’t drunk.

    12. Definitely Milo. He’s going to realise too quickly that he’s falling for her, and given how much he avoids dealing with emotion, I think he’ll be the one to panic first.

    Definitely!

Yes. We know he has some attachment to Ms Welch. He’s likely looking for the safety of sense of self he seems to have found when he taught her.

    Not art, that’s for sure!

I would rather clean out Ms Welch’s dusty art studio than be the centre of attention at a birthday party. I’m definitely more of a let’s plan something for you girl.

I hope so. I hope that this unconventional plan works. Actually it better. I am invested now!

No! I thought we’d at least have a better sense of what’s up with Nik before the baby got here. So many new questions and theories…

It’s what I’ve been saying! Milo is much more than meets the eye and I’m not surprised he’s still go find Prue.

I loved it. It’s part of his cheeky charm. Again we are seeing the sweeter side of him that’s maybe hidden by his carefree external facade.

It not only makes sense and even suits him! A girls name would be way too predictable.

I think we could see it coming. Milo will always try and do the avoiding and the running but Prue is going to change that. This shift is just the beginning.

Milo! Definitely Milo, he is completely taken with Prue.

    1. I mean when it comes to music that is pretty smart in my books! I think its a natural response humans have though, to distract themselves from what they are feeling
    2. Oh definitely, I think that Prue’s mother meant alot to him, she was probably his lifeline and therefore, it makes sense that he would want to help out, not just because he loves and respects her and wants to help her, but also because he might feel like its something he needs to do for him self, for the kid he once was.
    3. No idea but I did think that was pretty bold of her!
    4. Neither I dont think, I am not a very social person so I would prefer to do something lowkey with my friends
    5. I’ve said this before but I think that Milo and Mrs Welch’s bond is going to probably be the reason anything develops between Prue and Milo, and yes, I think him being there will help alot
    6. Milo is a complicated person and it makes sense that he has some deep-seated insecurities even if we do not know much of his childhood yet
    7. I mean there has to be a little drama and what better way for Sef to pop out the baby unexpectedly!
    8. I think its very sweet, he obviously feels a connection to her thats different and new and I am glad that he isnt running away from that feeling
    9. The custest gift, especially knowing that Sef insisted!! the card was hilarious and that would have just made my night
    10. Yeah I thought the DARE tattoo would be wilder or atleast have a deeper meaning lol but hey, Milo is a character so what do I expect?
    11. That was a really fast switch up and im pretty sure this entire friends with benefits is going to implode really quickly.
    12. Im not sure if anyone will chicken out, but I think that Milo might be the first one to catch feelings and run

  4. @ms_literarylifestyle Avatar

    1. Yes! I think its rather clever, why not trick thr brain when in fact the brain is the one causing the panic to begin with 🫠

    2. I think he feels like he owes Mrs Welsh a lot from his childhood for showing up for him when his parent hadn’t. Also, it doesnt hurt that he gets to spend more time with Prue 😊

    3. To make friends like her Dad wanted her to… live life a little

    4. I hate being in the limelight. I would love to celebrate others.

    5. Yes! I think it takes Prue’s mum to a happy time so I guess so…

    6. I dont think Milo know how to handle serious feelings like love and hence he comes across as he is in denial about catching those feeling… and im pretty sure by the end of this book we will see him having to confront real feelings.

    7. A little I did guess especially in the earlier chapters when they mentioned how many pregnancies she had and her condition.

    8. That was sweet of him… Hopefully his starting to acknowledge real feelings.

    9. Flowers were thoughtful on short notice… but let be honest here it was totally Sefs idea and not Milo’s

    10. Totally a MILO Move 😂

    11. Things escalated rather fast 😂 but also we got to see a daring and bold Prue… it also could be the alcohol, but yeah… things are happening fast here.

    12. Milo

    1. Definitely. It seems like such a good idea to help with overthinking.
    2. Yes, they have a special connection.
    3. It will help her make more friends, get out of the house and her comfort zone.
    4. I enjoy being celebrated.
    5. Yes, I think it would easier on Prue and her father.
    6. Prue’s brings out other emotions in him that he has never felt before. That makes him realize that he’s scared falling in love and why he has never wanted to settle with anyone.
    7. Not at all.
    8. It was extremely sweet of him. I think he’s been looking for a genuine reason to see her despite him wanting to spend time with his family and the new baby.
    9. Shows that he didn’t want to show up empty handed and he wanted to get her a gift even if it was used because he never got a chance to get anything.
    10. Exactly what I started to expect from him.
    11. I definitely saw it coming. Prue also had alcohol encouraging her which I think was the final straw to her being fully honest with Milo about how inexperienced she actually is.
    12. Definitely Milo. He’ll realize he’s falling for her and want to end it because of his commitment issues.

    Yes I would.

Yes. It’s obvious he likes and cares about her as well. And wants to help as much as he can.

I’m sure they will grow a bond and become closer over time. This will be a good way to get to know each other.

I’m very introverted so I would rather attend a party then be celebrated.

    For sure!

It’s understandable why he feels this way because of his childhood.

I was not expecting the baby to come so soon.

That was so sweet, I loved reading that.

Since he didn’t know it was her birthday, I would say it’s very thoughtful then showing up empty handed.

    I’m not surprised.

Things escalated pretty quickly, alcohol and Prue is a dangerous game lol.

    Milo.

I would be willing to try it and see if it helps. I tend to overthink and stress a lot.

Yes, I think so. He possibly feels indebted to her for the fact that she took care of him in a sense years ago.

I think she just wants to get to know him better and also follow her dad’s wishes of enjoying being young etc.

Neither – I don’t like parties. I would rather take someone out for coffee or lunch etc. in a one on one outing. I find my own birthday very awkward.

I am hoping so – maybe a peek back into her past will help her to have better days which will also make things easier for Prue and her dad.

I think due to emotional trauma in the past, Milo tends to avoid deep feelings in order to protect himself.

I did not expect the baby so early at all – I was quite anxious when I read Sef had been taken to hospital.

I think it is really sweet of him and made me like him even more.

I think it’s nice that he brought something, even if he is regifting the flowers. It’s not like he knew about her birthday in order to get anything for her before the time.

I actually didn’t expect that story – I thought it would be something more “boring” 🤣

That chapter had me on the edge of my seat!

I think Milo will – once he realises he is catching feelings or once he realises Prue is catching feelings, he will try to run.

    1. No, I am not musically inclined at all lol. I wanted to in primary school, but never did.
    2. In this situation I feel that I relate more to Prue. I would rather sacrifice and give up everything to help, than not to help and be there for someone.
    3. I think she really needs a friend and she knows it, however she is also aware that that she is attracted to him and that ultimately something would happen between them, so she rather retracted that thought of friendship.
    4. I think it is cute. Milo’s family clearly loves him and I think they want him to experience love and happiness in a partner, instead of being alone.
    5. The connection between them is really sweet and has potential. For Milo, he can be the father figure he never had and to Prue’s dad, Milo reminds him of a time when his wife wasn’t ill and that Milo can be a potential friend to Prue. He also clearly knows about Milo as it was mentioned that his wife spoke about him.
    6. They are both clearly attracted to one another, with Milo being more vocal about it and Prue being more cautious and skeptical about the attraction. Milo enjoys teasing Prue and tries to constantly get a reaction from her as she isn’t giving him much to work with.
    7. I thought it was so sweet – he is clearly family orientated and sentimental.
    8. Something more catchy.
    9. I think she will. There is clearly more to Milo than what meets the eye.
    10. Most probably his family situation and I think he had potential when it came to his art, which made him bond with Prue’s mom.

    1. I love that idea!
    2. I think it is for the sale of both of them. He clearly cares a lot for Mrs Welsch.
    3. I think the time will be spent getting to know each other better and is a way for Prue to show her father that she is trying to be more free and make friends.
    4. For some reason, I get quite anxious when it gets to celebrating myself. But I love celebrating the people that I care about.
    5. I think the days will be easier yes. The painting seems to bring some calmness to everyone.
    6. Milo is definitely scared to fall in love. I think he has some issues in his past that he will need to deal with in order for him to accept loving someone as well as being loved.
    7. I thought there might be an early delivery.
    8. I think it is sweet and chaotic, but so true to his nature. I love it.
    9. Maybe yes. But also it is such a simple reason which makes it even better!
    10. I think Milo.

    1) I love it! I think he gets Prue in ways she doesn’t even realise yet – and he knows this will help her. And yes, I would – I’ve done this too, listening to music that is happy instead of sad to help shift my mood!

    2) I think it is. Whatever history Milo has with Mrs Welch is clearly very important to him and I’m sure it brings him joy. But I think it will also help Mrs Welch go back to a time where life was normal.

    3) Well. After finishing Day Three’s chapters I think we know how it will be spent. Haha. But also, Prue needs a friend that will show her life is bigger than the small town. And also someone she can talk to that’s not her dad. So life lessons and good discussions.

    4) I much rather enjoy throwing parties for other people!

    5) It definitely seems so – if anything it at least alleviates the pressure on Prue and her father.

    6) It feels like he’s had his heart broken before and doesn’t want it to happen again. That’s why he never has anything serious.

    7) No – I thought that the baby still had a few weeks.

    8) I think Milo coming to find Prue shows that he’s starting to care about her!

    9) do they symbolise Milo? (Laughing face). It’s cute though – it’s the thought that counts.

    10) No! I didn’t think so. Not all tattoos need a significant meaning. But it does give us a good idea of how unserious he is sometimes.

    11) it got pretty intense! But I’m so glad it didn’t escalate – so that Prue can have a clear head when she makes this decision.

    12) That’s a tough one! But I think it will be Prue.
