What do you think of Dewald’s character?
The general brings up an interesting question regarding the hidden cameras in the Altman residence. He questions whether the Altmans placed the cameras to blackmail their guests later or if it was Steenberg who forced the cameras to be installed. What do you think of the reason the cameras were installed?
Do you think Barnabas is being reckless by continuing the blackmail operation? Why do you think he is so keen on getting the money?
Do you think the bodyguards we are introduced to in Chapter 58 will be enough to prevent harm from coming to Kassie and Rooi?
What do you think of Clarissa’s reaction to the news article that was published?
Moerdyk calls to aid the investigation. Do you think Clarissa will fold under the pressure and also become a witness in the case? Do you think she will be given the chance?
Dolf is once again delaying the blackmail. How long do you think Barnabas will be lenient?
Was there a point previously in the book where you thought Kassie and Rooi would never get Clarissa’s real name?
What do you think of the professor being the person to put the detectives on track? Why do you think Clarissa had never considered the professor as a potential lead that could expose her?
Did you think that Kassie and Rooi would have successfully found any stolen artefacts at Kruiswijk’s?

1. He really is the most unbothered person in the world. Genuinely diabolical relationship situation ever.
2. I think they were installed for the Altman’s safety or to ensure they were protected in some way.
3. Yes, he definitely is. I think he is probably gearing up to disappear.
4. I think so, they seem like they take every possible measure to ensure their clients’ safety.
5. Clarissa’s reaction is so real. Honestly, if I were in her shoes, I’d be so anxious and nervous about the article.
6. That’s difficult to say. I feel like Clarissa can go either way. She can either fold or act innocent. It really just depends on her odds.
7. Not for long, probably. I really think Dolf is testing Barnabas, and it might cost him his life.
8. Yes.
9. I didn’t expect the professor to put them on track, but oh how the tables turn!
10. I really hoped they would, and then i realised they has called Clarissa. -

1. I like that he’s not letting the criminals bully him.
2. I think they’re giving Steenberg too much credit. They were installed for blackmail, I’m guessing should they want to expose the illegal auctions then the Altmans will have something on them.
3. Yeah he’s greedy. He just wants to take and take and take. It’s not like he has immediate use for the money?
4. I had so much faith in those bodyguards. Especially since the armoured vehicle seems like it’s stronger than the ones that carry cash.
5. I thought Clarissa was a badass but I guess it makes sense. It’s not like she runs the operation so she knows she’s screwed if the truth comes out.
6. Yeah I’ve always thought that she’d crack under pressure.
7. Dolf was biting off more than he can chew. Barnabas is dangerous
8. Nah. I knew they would. I knew there was a point they weren’t cracking the fact that Edina Steenberg is a fake name.
9. Who would suspect her? She’s on all the bodies combating artefact looting.
10. No. The article revealed too much and they contacted Clarissa first. -
1. He is quite an entertaining character!
2. I believe it was the Altman’s plan and had nothing to do with Steenberg. Everyone thinks Clarissa is the mastermind, but she’s just another one of Barnabas’ henchmen really.
3. Barnabas is being crazy reckless, but I am noticing that is his character sometimes. It’s amazing he has gotten so far! It must be because of his power and the fact that his cronies are everywhere. I think Barnabas is just greedy for money.
4. I don’t think so, especially after the prologue we read.
5. Her fear is understandable. Things are starting to go downhill for her.
6. Clarissa does look like someone who might fold. But it depends on how much Barnabas has over her. I think the police will give anyone a chance to be a witness, but that will not completely exonerate her.
7. Dolf is too cocky. Barnabas is clearly not a very patient man and he is going to get Dolf, I’m sure.
8. Honestly, it was so frustrating that they kept missing that Edina Steenberg was an alias! I knew they would get it eventually, but yoh that took them long 😆
9. The professor put the detectives on the case without even realising it! It was good detective work on Kassie and Rooi’s side. Meanwhile, Clarissa had herself tangled in so many things, she was bound to slip up somewhere. I don’t believe she is not fully bred criminal like the others and is just someone who wanted more from life but searched for it in the wrong places.
10. No, I had a feeling things would go sideways for them. I felt their frustration myself!! If only Kruiswijk hadn’t known in advance.

1. I think he’s quite the character!
2. I think they were definitely installed for blackmail purposes. The Altmans needed leverage in case one of their guests decided to expose them.
3. He’s just greedy and yes greed leads people to be reckless.
4. They seem competent so I really hope so.
5. She’s right to be scared, the noose around her neck is getting tighter…
6. Yes I think she’ll fold in order to save herself because she knows Barnabas won’t help her when it comes down to it. She’ll be given the chance because the police want the head of the operation which is clearly not Clarissa.
7. Not for long, he won’t put up with Dolf’s tactics because he’s not a patient man.
8. To be honest it felt like that in the beginning but as the story progressed I knew they would. It just took them very long!
9. She thought no one would ever suspect a professor who was on all the boards fighting against the looting of artefacts. It was the perfect cover until it wasn’t.
10. No it was obvious that he’d get a tip off from Clarissa to hide everything.
