Jo’s writing style is engaging, funny, and heartfelt, making it easy to become fully invested in the characters’ lives. What I loved most about this book is its realistic portrayal of relationships, love, and personal growth. The characters are flawed, genuine, and likable, making it easy to root for them. Read this book is you want a great African setting and a fun plot.

If you’re looking for a sweet and hilarious read about first loves getting their second chance amidst stunning African locations and some interesting shenanigans, all while trying to break a (sexual) curse, this is the story for you <3
I don’t know how best to describe it, but I had a very relaxing time reading this book? It’s like I could just kick back and enjoy the journey Ash and Max find themselves on. Maybe it’s just because they’re from South Africa🤣 The writing was also incredibly immersive and straight to the point, which is something I’ll always appreciate because it made me finish the book in less than a day✨️
And I have to hand it to Jo…. it takes a lot for me to crack the slightest of smiles while reading a rom-com, but Jo has managed to do that from the very first chapter. I found myself having quite a few inner chuckles, not gonna lie! 🤭
What you’ll find is a story that strikes a delightful balance with its lighthearted humoristic mishaps, a slow-burning rekindling of chemistry, and a genuine portrayal of life’s more challenging emotions.
