– This is hard to answer because I’ve already finished the book, so I know what it was. I’ll just say it wasn’t what I expected the breaking point to be.
– I didn’t expect that level of punishment. It was awful. At first, I thought he was the one who directly did it to her. And in a way, he is responsible because he put her in that situation and didn’t stop it. But I do think he feels remorse now. The whole “who did this to you” moment and him realising it was essentially him was really powerful. It felt like the start of him trying to make amends.
– No, I don’t think Vander set her up. I think Lord Rodin kept his intentions hidden from him. Vander gave the impression that he wanted her to succeed because of his relationship with Stellan. It felt more like Rodin was playing politics.
– I did not expect that at all. It was a big shock. I definitely think there will be major consequences, as it’s going to cause upheaval in the politics of the immortals, especially given how powerful Lord Rodin was. There’s definitely going to be pushback or some unexpected fallout.
– No, I didn’t, but it was really sweet that he did. It was a wholesome moment that helped deepen their relationship and gave them both some closure.
– This chapter was brutal. Facing your own fears and inner struggles is one of the hardest things to do. People deal with that every day, and seeing it written like that was really intense. I can only imagine how much harder it was for Aris to relive everything, probably even worse than the first time.
– It took the idea of “I see you” to a completely different level. It was probably the biggest turning point in their relationship. I loved the vulnerability and the emotion, and how much their connection has deepened over the course of the story.
– No, I don’t think so. At this point, you can see how much she means to him, and I don’t think he would have been able to do it.
– Yes, I think Cadoc killed Kira. He’s power-hungry and ruthless, so it fits. And I do think we’ll learn Zane’s fate. It can’t just be left open like that, it needs closure.
– Yes, I was really surprised. But it makes sense now that she’s essentially a phoenix. That explains why she keeps rising and why Stellan called her one. She’s literally born from the ashes.
– I think Este believes in the prophecy, even if we don’t fully know what it is yet. It felt like one of those powerful moments where someone is finally standing up for what’s right instead of just accepting things as they are and finally wanting to change that.
– I want to learn more about the prophecy because it’s only been hinted at and not fully explained. I want to understand what makes Aris so special. I also hope she gets her cup of magic, especially for Kira. I want to see Zane again, and I hope everything she’s gone through ends up being worth it. And of course, I want her and Raker to make it to the end together.
-
Maybe when one of them is in danger again.
I do think it will haunt him having learnt what happened to her. I was sickened at the punishment and what they did to her. If she seeks revenge then I fully support it.
I don’t believe that it was Vander.. why would Stellan send her to him? But then again we barely even know him so i may be wrong.
There has to be consequences of him killing an heir but I highly doubt that he actually cares about it. I strive for Raker’s idgaf energy.
Yes, I did. Based on his reaction when she told him what happened, you could tell that there was more to it and he was taken by surprise.
It’s difficult to face yourself and your worst moments and fears no matter what they are. Aris proves that she’s strong and resilient.
There’s a shift in their relationship and I can only hope that it’s for the better.
A few chapters ago, I would have said yes. Now? I don’t think so.
Yes, I think he killed Kira (but I hope I’m wrong) and yes, I do think that we’ll see Zane again or at least learn what happened to him.
A little surprised, but it actually made everything make so much more sense after discovering that.
It was alluding to Aris being part of the prophecy and because of her, things will change. It’s time that things change.
I hope to see her dragon again, but also a real shift in feelings between Aris and Raker.

The tension between Aris and Raker has been building for some time now. What do you think will be the breaking point?
Honestly i thought the breaking point qould be when Aris literally almost died so im not sure.We learn what happened after Raker caught Aris before the Questral. Do you think he will now be haunted by what happened to her? Did you expect the extent of punishment she received?
I GASPED i was so sad for Aris and now i completely understand her hatred toward Raker. I hope he will be haunted by what happened to her. When Aris returns to the blacksmith at midnight, she learns that she has been betrayed. Do you think Vander set her up? Or do you think Lord Rodin even kept his true intentions hidden from Vander?
I dont think Vander set her up I think Vander was played by Lord Rodin. What do you make of Raker killing an heir? Do you think there will be consequences? If so, what do you think they will be?
I think it might be consequences or the opposite.. maybe a reward?Did you expect Raker to apologise for what happened to Aris because of his knights?
Yes since he didnt know what they did to her and they disobeyed him its expected that he will apologies.During Chapter Thirty-Nine, Aris and Raker stumble into the desert only to face their worst enemy; themselves. What do you think of what Aris sees and hears?
She holds a lot of guilt and wished she couldve done things diferrently. She also clearly thinks very badly of herself based on what her imaginary mother told her. There is a tense moment between Aris and Raker in Chapter Thirty-Nine. What do you think this moment meant to the two of them?
They care for each other and want to see each other succeed nobmatter hiw much history there is between them.Do you think Raker would have killed Aris?
No not at all.Aris runs into Cadoc again. Do you think he killed Kira? Do you think we will learn the Zane’s fate?
Yes i think he did kill her how else would he have gotten her sword. I hope we get to see more of Zane, i was very curious about him from the start. Are you surprised that the flames did nothing to Aris?
Yes very! But it was a cool plot twist. What do you think of what Este said at the end of Chapter Forty-One?
I think theres more to the story there… i think Este knows Aris somehow… we just need to figure out how but im really intrigued. As we reach the end of the book, what is something you still hope we will see?
I hope we will see Zane reaappear, i hope we find out why Este left the traveling city and I hope Raker opens up a bit more to Aris. Most of all, I hope Aris gets het revenge. -

1.The tension has been building but they have been denying it, so the breaking point will come when their feelings can no longer be hidden.
2.Yes, I think it will haunt him. He now knows the full extent of her suffering because of his actions. I didn’t expect the punishment to be so severe, which made it hit harder.
3. I don’t think Vander is aware. I feel Aris can trust Vander. I think Lord Rodin had his own hidden motives.
4.That feels huge. Killing someone of that status should have consequences. I’m not sure what they could be. Maybe one of the God’s will retaliate.
5. Honestly, no. For someone like him, apologies seems rare, so it shows genuine remorse.
6.Those scenes were powerful. What she sees reflects her deepest wounds, doubts, and fears.
7.There was a shift between them. Both of them recognise how much the other matters.
8. He came so close to doing so! But I don’t think so.
9.Cadoc is definitely capable of killing Kira. I do think we’ll learn Zane’s fate. His story feels unfinished.
10. Yes I was very surprised. It suggests there is more to her powers. But now it makes sense how she survived the fire in her childhood and also her nickname of Phoenix.
11. It was intriguing. Este seems to know more than she reveals.
12. I’d love full answers about Aris’s origins and markings, a breakthrough between her and Raker, a revelation about the prophecy, and a dramatic reveal or twist that changes everything we know about Starside and the Gods.

Their resolve is literally hanging on by a thread. Something small is enough now to ignite their relationship and I can’t wait.
This will haunt Raker coz we all know he is overprotective of Aris and him knowing he unintentionally caused that to happen to her will trouble him for a very long time. I didnt expect it to be that bad, what happened to Aris was inhumane.
The thought that Vander could have betrayed her did cross my mind but it doesn’t seem like he would so this is probably Lord Rodin’s own doing.
Raker is bada$$. Consequences seem a possibility but Raker most likely doesn’t gaf and will take it.
Yesss I did, was waiting for that moment!
I felt so bad for her and totally understand why that was her own fears and thoughts of herself… poor Aris.
I love how Aris stood in his corner and didn’t back down. She was all in for him. I ship them so much.
No. He doesn’t possess the capacity to coz our boy is whipped and has it bad for her!
I despise Cadoc so much, hate that he made another appearance. It is very likely he did something to Kira coz he has her sword. I’m hoping we see Zane. I think he survived.
During that chapter when she was talking about ashes and fire and rising. I had a thought at that moment that perhaps she was the queen of phoenix birds or at least had phoenix magic in her, idk something tho coz it would explain why she always says RISE and Stellan associated her with a Phoenix. This is me reaching lol but yeah I wasn’t really surprised she was unscathed from the fire.
I like Este, it was brave what she did and very selfless. We’ll see what happens.
Raker and Aris being honest about their feelings with each other and for us to get more answers. Also for the gods that wronged Aris to pay. Ooh also I wanna see Zane again!

1. I think jealousy at the attention she’s receiving from others or surviving a serious attack might open the floodgates between them.
2. I didn’t think he would be as affected considering how callous he has been throughout the book. I didn’t expect him to care as much as he did. I think the punishment did not fit the crime in any way and was a complete abuse of power.
3. I didn’t suspect Vander – I believe both Vander and Aris were fooled by Rodin.
4. If there is anything this book has shown me, is that there is always a reaction to any action taken. Maybe Raker will be forced to become heir.
5. No, as mentioned, I didn’t think he would care as much as he did, given how callous and cold he has been towards Aris.
6. You are sometimes your biggest enemy and admitting or facing yourself is the most difficult thing someone can do. I think it was extremely difficult for Aris as she probably pushed these thoughts and feelings deep down but now had to face them head on.
7. I think it shows the trust in each other they have gained over time, and how well they’re starting to understand each other.
8. I wouldn’t put it past him, although he seems to have softened up considerably since their first encounter.
9. Despise Cadoc! I think he might be lying about killing her and somehow just took her sword. I hope we do learn Zane’s fate!
10. Yes, I expected her power to be based on lightening, but come to think of it, there were signs. Like how she survived the tragedy with her parents and sister
11. I think Este believes that the prophecy is about Aris and she believes that Aris has the power to bring about the change it speaks of.
12. I would love to understand more of Rakers role in everything. His upbringing does not fully match with his skills, so I feel like there is more to him than we know. Similarly with Aris, I feel like there is more to her than just her ability to walk through fire. Something related to being immortal.

1) I don’t know – maybe when they are finally forced to say goodbye… but I think this slow burn will burn a little longer and we won’t see an end to the tension.
2) Raker does seem like it will haunt him, especially as we catch glimpses of his affection toward Aris. The extent of punishment was severe and I did not expect it – the city guards were very cruel.
3) I don’t think Vander set her up – Lord Rodin has hid his true intentions from everyone (I’m sure to set a trap just like this in order to appease his god)
4) Raker has no fear at all – it seems his sole purpose now is to protect Aris. I believe there will definitely be consequences for this but I can’t say what they will be.
5) Yes – I did expect him to apologise. He seems to genuinely care for her.
6) It’s expected – she is haunted by all those that have died around her, with her thinking it’s her own fault.
7) They’re slowly but surely breaking down eachother’s walls.
8) Raker seems to constantly striding the line between killing her and kissing her – but I don’t think he would have killed Aris.
9) Cadoc definitely killed Kira – I hope the same fate did not meet Zane.
10) I am actually not surprised at all – she has definitely been gifted by the gods because of the “lightning strike”
11) She has left everything behind for Aris, which means she believes in Aris and probably also believes she is the one from the prophecy, the Paladin, even if we don’t know what the full prophecy is – but it definitely links to the downfall of the gods.
12) I really want to know more about her markings and why Raker is taking part in the Questral… and if they will both go back to Stormside! Oh and also if Zane is still alive… -
Sara
1. I think the breaking point will be when Aris finds out the full truth about Raker.
2. Yes I think he will be haunted by it. I did not expect it to be so severe.
3. Rodin feels more suspicious than Vander.
4. That was serious. Killing an heir will have consequences.
5. I did not expect the apology, so it stood out.
6. That scene felt more psychological than physical.
7. It felt like everything between them finally came out.
8. No I do not think he would have killed her.
9. Cadoc feels connected to Kira, and Zane’s story is still not fully clear.
10. No I was not surprised.
11. It felt like a warning for what is coming next.
12. I still want answers about Aris’s markings and Raker’s plans. -
@sirralton
1. Probably when Aris is in danger and requires Raker’s help again.
2. I did not expect that. I thought he did something to her directly. I think now he will be more empathetic.
3. I think Lord Rodin kept his true intentions hidden from Vander. I was not expecting it at all.
4. I think he doesn’t really care, regardless of the consequences. They will probably hunt him down or have a ransom on his life now.
5. Nope, but I am glad he did.
6. That was quite intense.
7. I think now the real test of their trust begins, beyond the banter and earlier disagreements.
8. No.
9. Yes, I think he killed Kira but I’m still unsure about Zane. I would be annoyed if we don’t.
10. Yes, that was a plot twist.
11. I think Este really believes in the prophecy and is driven by it. It makes sense why she would sacrifice her own status.
12. I really need to know what happened to Zane and Aris’s dragon.
