If I was the one throwing up, I’d probably want the earth to open and swallow me whole. I’d disappear from public life for at least a decade. If it was the other way around and someone threw up on me, I’d probably be too stunned to react immediately — like did that just happen? Yes! I actually love places like that. I’d probably stroll around aimlessly, get lost in the quiet, take too many pictures of flowers, find a shady spot under a tree with a book or a playlist, and people-watch while snacking on something sweet. I feel like it’s coming soon — maybe at a breaking point where one of them is about to leave or something pushes them into a no-going-back moment. I did not see that coming. I had a theory or two but nowhere near what actually happened. It was the kind of twist that made me flip back a few pages like “wait, did I miss a sign?” I loved it though — books that keep you guessing are the best kind.10. Probably because everyone copes differently. Elle’s sister might’ve seen it as survival, or maybe she craved approval and security in a way Elle didn’t. I think she’s right on the edge. The walls are crumbling, and at this point, it’s not if — it’s when. And it’ll probably be messy, emotional, and absolutely worth the wait. -
1. The horror! Very reminiscent of Kat and Patrick in ‘10 Things I Hate About You’, one of my favourite rom-coms. I would be mortified, either way. I can’t believe people can laugh it off. It’s a deal-breaker for me.
2. A walk around botanical gardens sounds idyllic. I would love to spend the day just taking in the sights and sounds of nature, especially if it ends with a picnic and a good book.
3. We’re getting closer to the “I don’t want this to end’ stage. Parker is more ready for this than Elle is, but I don’t think he has fully thought out the logistics. Right now they are both in close proximity and not very busy. Can they maintain this after the summer ends and Parker is full-steam ahead at work?
4. Probably! It sounds gorgeous, especially during the summer. I am already a sucker for aurora borealis (it’s a bucket list item). What’s not to love?
5. The man breaks his phone! Totally expected – and no less cute.
6. Elle is gradually changing, or just becoming more herself. She is no longer an island and her reluctance to keep building walls around herself is great to see. It feels like a homecoming. She’s less brittle.
7. Heehee, yeah, Parker was very swoon-worthy.
8. It’s about time. Elle’s screenwriting mirrors the novel in a way. She is halfway through her script and delights in her progress on the page. She’s also halfway into transforming into a better version of herself and her relationship with Parker. The pacing is just perfect and the heat is on.
9. I already suspected that Elle’s distaste of the rich preceded Parker and the stairwell. I thought both Elle and Parker handled the situation expertly. He was protective, not controlling. He followed her lead in dealing with her father and did not let his confusion and anger dictate the situation. I think that’s why she felt she could openly articulate her complicated feelings about money.
10. Elle’s sister was young and impressionable. I don’t blame her for wanting her life to be a little easier. However, everything after that is inexcusable. She is immature and probably fancies herself a rebel (without a clue). As the youngest, she has been told what to do by her elders her whole life – did it matter that it was now her father controlling her? She probably sees this as a fair trade.
11. Yes! I do think Elle will want to stop pretending and just see where this goes. It doesn’t have to be forever, just longer than the summer.

I would be mortified, I’d probably want to run away and change my name never to be seen again. I’m a sympathetic vomitter so I don’t think either scenario would end well for me.
Yes, I love the botanic gardens. It would be nice exploring and learning about the different flowers and spending time there.
I think by the end of today’s chapters we’re getting closer, mostly with Parker when he tells her that she has him. She thinks it’s only for now but I think it’s for keeps.
If I’ve ever had the opportunity to see Manhattanhenge, then yes, absolutely I would. It’s one of the most iconic movie/TV moments.
I loved Parker’s reaction. he is so, so gone for Elle already. I also thought it was good inviting her to THE club to make new memories over the sour ones. And yes, his actions at the club had me swooning too!

I was shocked at the charity event. We know that Elle was hiding her identity from someone who was mostly likely her father, but I didn’t expect him to be someone who high up and be at the event. So much about Elle makes sense now, especially her view on money and her sister’s attitude. Her sister was young enough to be caught up in the money but also young enough not to have really seen things with her father. I think Elle wanted to protect her, also by taking a lot of responsibility by being the eldest and so when her sister saw her father and money, she was blinded.
I think we’re close to Elle taking up Parker on his offer to no longer pretend.

If it was me throwing, I would be very embarrassed and probably run away. If they were the one throwing up, I I probably would get sick myself, but would show some care as it’s not something you can control.
Any open space in nature is worth walking around, and if you can share it with someone special it’s much better.

• I do! I love flowers and sometimes you just need to be in nature. Its so peaceful. I’d walk around,look at everything and also take pictures of all the flowers, trees & plants. Spend it with family & snacks.

Its nice to see her get out of her comfort zone and I know thats quite hard to do but she’s doing it so kudos to her however her whole qualms about not dating Parker coz he is rich is kinda off-putting… I like Elle, I do but I need her to wake up and smell the coffee 🙈

• We gain some insight as to why Elle has issues with money and it all boils down to her mom & dad. I think her sister has different priorities and outlooks. For her it was about getting her way in this manner as it seems easy even if she had to sacrifice some bits here and there. It wasn’t a concern or bother as long as she had that financial support.
• I’m hoping she does sooner rather than later but I think she might get with him in a few chapters then we’ll get a 3rd act breakup of some hidden thing coming to light or misconception before we get a reconciliation & HEA.

I’d be mortified if I threw up on someone after trying to kiss them, i would be so embarrassed! If someone threw up on me, I’d probably be shocked but try to be kind about it.

Yes, I do. Like Elle, I’d wander through the paths, look at all the unique flowers, maybe take photos, and enjoy the calmness of it all.

Probably not until something forces them to be honest—like a big event or a confession. Maybe near the very end when the pretending just doesn’t feel right anymore.
