A: I can’t say I have 🤣 I’ve lived in a few different cities/towns and the night before moving, I’m usually busy packing because I procrastinate that until the very last minute. This seems to be a quality I share with the protagonist so I find her very relatable already.Q: Are you someone who likes to melt into the crowd? A: I love melting into a crowd because I don’t like being the centre of attention. However, even if I do melt into a crowd, I normally feel like I don’t belong there either. I would have corrected the bouncer, but I can see where the fun in leaning into a new character can be.Q: Did you expect things to heat up as quickly as they did?

A: I think it’s very cute! But I do agree with the comment of how it would not have been cute if she was not interested in him. I have had work events where I had to socialise but I’d rather have been home. But also, I think that it was good because I needed to actually go out and not just live in my home bubble
I used to want to melt into the crowd but my position at work, forced me to become more outgoing and sociable so I am more extroverted than I used to be. However there are still times where I don’t feel like engaging and don’t 🙂 I probably would have played along like Elle did

I enjoy a morning cup of coffee or two and sometimes pick up a red bull when I need something cold instead and I like the taste but I don’t think I need either to function. My go-to is water generally. I have a hilarious story about my favourite soda though. When I was in primary school, my favourite actor Shah Rukh Khan was the brand ambassador for Pepsi and it had come to SA for the first time. Obviously, I had to try it.. and it was terrible… BUT..being a huge fan, I forced myself to develope a taste for it and now I prefer it to all soda’s 😀 He’s changed brands now, but luckily I’m not as impressionable now

♡ I am naturally a outgoing person and enjoy being out but there have been situations where I didn’t enjoy the places I was at and would rather be cozy at home watching TV with my cats just like Elle wanted to be at home rather but I stayed in the hopes of meeting new people and having new experiences

I’ve had similar experiences to Elle where I’ve been thrown into social events due to work or friends but I’d much rather stay at home all cosy – especially if it’s my last night. I think I would want the time to relax and decompress before a big move!
I think on some level most of us would like to seem like we fit in (and actually fit in), there’s nothing worse to me than standing out in the crowd so I’d definitely love blending in. My first instinct would be to correct the person.. but if it’s my last night in the city, maybe not?
I expected things to heat up quickly but not to be doused out in the way that it did – I was taken aback by what the bouncer’s assumption was so 100% support that Elle broke it off.Elle’s comment about the richest tech owner was an important point to me and something we’re going to circle back to for sure. I’m incredibly intrigued by Penelope’s love interest. I loved the entire interaction with Elle and their back and forth was one of my favourite scenes for this section. I think it’s cute for now.. but we’ll see?
The beverage that keeps me going is water – but I love that Elle had 3 drinks and her rationale made me laugh but made complete sense. I’m also a hot chocolate girl. There’s not a specific cafe that makes me feel at home but there’s so many cute ones that provide that vibe and are the ones I’d go to.
I think that Elle intrigued Parker that night so she would have stayed in his mind. I don’t know if he’s the player that the tabloids are making him out to be but Elle is probably unlike the women he’s used to being around (given his comments that night at the club). People who surprise us usually leave an impression so we remember them, I think that’s the case for Parker with Elle but I don’t thinki he has the same level of obsession as Elle. Having said that, I appreciated Penelope’s comment to Elle because sometimes we just overthink things and other people forget immediately.
Parker being the one to cause Elle to write was something I saw coming – her emotions are so strong when it comes to him and sometimes we just need that boost to get us out of a funk. It’s not only Parker but more the interation they had.. Penelope also mentions how much of a recluse Elle is so her interacting with someone with so much passion also adds another layer. She’s been obsessed over him from afar but now she’s getting to interact with him.

A: Not typically. I’ve moved around a lot but I don’t think I’ve ever had one big bang before I moved to a different place. It was more sitting with my family and talking about things we’ve done or experiences we’ve had in that specific place.

A: I’m definitely one who tends to blend into the crowd. I’d carry on a conversation with someone who I was talking to but I wouldn’t automatically start a conversation to someone next to me. I think I would’ve had the same reaction as Elle if I was being completely honest.

A: I definitely did not, but I can’t say I’m disappointed with it. I’m very excited to see how things will turn out, especially given how much Elle seems to dislike Parker.

A: No, I think given how much it ended up impacting and affecting her, she made the right decision to not continue the moment. It was uncalled for of Parker to make assumptions about Elle eventhough it may be what he’s experienced in the past.

A: Honestly, I actually really liked how she called him out on his stereotype of her. I can see that there might be a reason behind his assumptions but it emphasizes her character and strength really early on in the book.

A: Based on what she seemed to do to get more information about him as well, I think it was cute. They seem to be two sides of the same coin and I’m actually curious about how their relationship will develop.

1. I definitely relate to Elle in terms of wanting to be at home in my pj’s instead of going out in the evening. I’ve often ditched my friends after dinner if they want to go out, because I’d prefer to be home with a book and a blanket instead!

I can’t say I have as I’m more or less a homebody & I like to overplan so I’d probably be at home going through my checklist for the move and just having some chill time.
I’ve had plenty of moments where I wish I were at home instead much like Elle did 😂 so I relate with that aspect.Sometimes blending is needed and other times I can be okay with standing out,but in a good way… or else no thank you let me just blend then. I’d probably correct him.

I’m not the same. I don’t have a beverage that I require to keep me going. I drink water mostly, boring I know and then decaf coffee when I like. Caffeine isn’t something that impacts my activity levels so when people say coffee gives them energy I sadly can’t relate 🙃
Growing up we didnt do restaurants much so I can’t associate them with feeling at home but if something had to come mildly close to that feeling, perhaps McDonald’s
I think Parker has been thinking about her still all these years later. Their encounter must have been memorable for him as I get the feeling that Parker even showing interest in her in that stairwell is rare for him, so it must mean Elle is certainly something special in his eyes, like to make him loose control in that manner! Elle is super relatable in how much of a homebody she is! And the descriptions of how much she hates being there are hilarious. The sticky hair and body just takes me back and makes me want to go home myself.

1. I am a complete hermit. You would need grease and a crowbar to get me out of the house. I can only relate to Elle’s reluctance to a night out, not her acquiescence.
2. Blending in, especially in an unfamiliar environment, does inspire some pride. Elle’s satisfaction about this is justified and I might have reacted similarly.
3. I did NOT expect things to heat up that quickly! Everything we know about Elle so far makes this very out-of-character for her: she is reserved and self-conscious AND keeps counting down the minutes like Cinderella at the ball. This girl does not hook up with strangers.
4. I think Elle shouldn’t have let things go this far in the first place. I’m glad she broke it off eventually.
5. Elle’s interaction with Parker brought out something primal and childish in her. Her comment about him “clearly not” being capable of buying anything he wants says more about her than him. She is defensive about money and independence (I’m sure there’s a story there).
6. I’m sorry, but it was sweet before he sliced the meat himself. That sounds like serial-killer material – he is too comfortable with knives lol.
7. I LOVE coffee (yes, even espresso)! However, only a milkshake atones for a truly terrible day…

– It depends how much that “movie moment” meant to her. Maybe instead of taking it so personally, she should have just brushed it off and had her little moment with him on her last night. But we learn later on that she was raised to be “fiercely independent”, so I can understand the offence she took as being mislabelled as a “gold digger” looking for someone to pay her way. Referring to her holding her mom in such high esteem for all she did for them to make sure they were looked after and educated as kifs.5. Absolutely, the idea of having one last night in a city and ending it on a big note is so appealing but I also I’ll regret it because unfortunately the city life can be so crazy sometimes.

– Yes — I’m very much an introvert, but there’s always that little feeling of FOMO. I’ve had a few nights where I dragged myself out thinking, “Why not, this could be fun” and ended up making some of my best memories. So I completely get Elle’s decision.2. – I definitely lean toward melting into the crowd — I find people-watching in a crowded/busy place more enjoyable than being the center of attention. – Not at all — it caught me off guard actually, since Elle is not even really enjoying herself in the first place. I thought we’d get more slow-burn tension before things escalated, but in a way, it matched the unpredictability of those kinds of nights and it ended before it really even started to…It works well in this case I think.4. Should Elle have continued with the moment or broken it off?
– Honestly… I think she did the right thing by stepping away. If someone says something wildly off-putting early on, it’s usually a red flag. Don’t get me wrong, surprisingly the chemistry was there, even so early in the book, but Elle deserves to be in control of how those moments unfold.5. – Loved it. I’m always a fan of characters who unknowingly sass powerful people. It keeps them humble and adds a touch of humor. I think it was bold, and made Elle more memorable to him than any polished introduction ever could. I wouldn’t even be surprised if he was still thinking about her all this time…6. – There’s a fine line — and context is everything. From what we’ve seen so far, it leans a little stalker-ish, but if it’s coming from a place of genuine interest without being invasive, it could be endearing. I think I’ll reserve full judgment until we get more on him…but I really hope it’s cute and not stalker-ish.7. Are you the same with coffee, or what beverage keeps you going?
– Sometimes yes — coffee is my lifeline in certain situations. But only when it’s ICED Coffee!! There’s just something about it… But when it’s not coffee, anything I’m craving at the time will do haha.8. A restaurant or café that makes you feel right at home?
– There’s this tiny café near where I live, it’s outdoors sort of on the side of a rode (It’s not in a building, it’s kind of like a pop-up café). The have the best coffee there, with the best chocolate cake I always get a slice of when it’s there (they have different flavors every week). I love going there with friends or even when I have some work to do. It’s really peaceful, so I appreciate a good café just like Elle.9. – I get the feeling he might be playing it cool, but he remembers more than he lets on. Stories like this usually hint at an unspoken connection both people carry, even if one of them pretends otherwise. I don’t think Elle’s obsession is entirely one-sided.10. – It’s a classic trope for sure, but one I enjoy. Sometimes, people unexpectedly show up and remind you of who you are and what you’re capable of. It’s not so much him causing the fire, but what he represents — a jolt out of the ordinary. I also have a theory that maybe she is going to end up writing about them…Maybe he will make her fall in love with the city and she will then be able to write about it?11. – Absolutely. 100%. I have beautiful notebooks I’ve bought, swearing they’d be filled with brilliant ideas or lists, only for them to remain pristine. There’s always that weird pressure to save them for something special. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have other notebooks for this. I am waaay to much of a “to-do list” kinda girl (not to mention a perfectionist with mild OCD), so I definitely need them still haha. -
1. It is often a battle between stay warm and cosy and enjoying a great book for me or having a big bang before I leave a city. If a lot of friends are going I would be persuaded to go.
2. I would most likely be happy to hear I melt into the crowd. I am more comfortable with smaller groups and one on one conversations. I wouldn’t have rebuked him, especially given I likely didn’t want to stand out.
