While in Paris, the two characters finally, sort of, put a name on what is happening between them. The two are definitely enjoying their honeymoon phase and Elle does the unexpected. She allows Parker to read her almost complete script. If you were a writer (or if you are), do you let anyone read your work before it is done?
Have you ever flown in business or first class before? What was that experience like?
Would you expect Parker and Elle to put up more of a fight for their relationship?
The two of them complete the daunting task that was set at the start of their running journey. The run/walk the whole of Manhattan and in between it all, Parker has made some amazing stops from coffee places to bookstores. He has Elle covered. Do you think that after all of this, Elle will realize that she doesn’t have to give up this relationship?

A: No. She obviously has some stuff to work through on her own. But she is also not giving Parker a proper chance, so before she can realise this, she needs to work herself out. -
1. I am not surprised that Elle’s father would take credit for her career. From everything that Elle has said about him (and his past actions), he is an ego-maniac who uses money and influence to control the narrative. I was seething alongside Elle.
2. Elle’s treatment of Parker, especially given his patience and understanding, is unacceptable at this point. It’s really unfair. Surely she knows the difference between right (Parker) and wrong (her father) by now. I am very disappointed in her tunnel vision: she cannot see the forest for the trees.
3. I love those girls! They didn’t even judge her for lying to them about her relationship with Parker. Their acceptance of Penelope was just so cute!
4. Elle will use anything as a crutch: her mother’s memory, her anonymity, Parker’s behaviour on their first meeting. I am glad that her identity has been exposed, but I hate how it hurt her. She is now free of one secret and can make decisions unencumbered by her pseudonym.
5. Penelope is fun, but I don’t think we’re ready for her love story just yet… At least I’m not!
6. Parker has been an openbook when it comes to Elle: he cares about her and everything she cares about. I thought the surrender of the private jet after the rescue was too much. Elle is now as obsessed with money as her father and she is controlling her relationship with Parker much like her father did/does.
7. I understand Cali’s wanting to respect her mother’s wish to protect Elle. It was unfair to expect that of someone so young. Revealing her mother’s illness (against her wishes), would have ruined the relationship between Cali and her mother even more. They already had enough problems.
8. I hope Elle can appreciate the others are as entitled to their choices and behaviours as she is – however upsetting it may be for her. Understanding may be a long way off, but I hope she can forgive her sister’s choice.

10. Reading a draft is very sacred. I only ever trusted my sister to read, edit and improve my assignments. It takes a lot of strength to allow someone to read a WIP.

12. This relationship is on Elle’s terms and conditions. Parker is afraid that if he fights for this relationship, she will accuse him of trying to control her. Elle cannot fight for a relationship because she still sees money as a personality defect.
13. Our girl is very stubborn. Of course she will realise that she wants this relationship and Parker will still be waiting for her. She has a lot of soul-searching to do – she’s the problem here.

1. That was utterly awful of him. She has made it her mission not to be associated with him or his wealth. I felt so bad for Elle.

Honestly, yes! I was waiting for this. Elle kind of just hides behind excuses and fear— I hated that it hurt her (seeing as it literally changed everything for her, but now she doesn’t have to live a lie.5. Would you be interested in a romcom about Penelope’s love life?
I actually wouldn’t mind it. I love Penelope’s character a lot in this book!6. Why do you think Parker still offered to help Elle, even after everything between them?
Because contrary to what Elle apparently can’t let go off, Parker’s always worn his heart on his sleeve when it comes to her. He truly cares for her, and though I did think the private jet rescue was a bit much — Elle is now using money as a power play, and it’s affecting how she handles Parker. She is sort of becoming like her father (just about NOT using money, instead of using it)7. Do you think Cali was right to keep their mom’s illness from Elle?
Probably not, but I get why Cali made that choice. She was young, even though it was unfair to ask that of her. I think telling Elle would’ve only made things messier between Cali and their mom.8. Can you see Elle eventually understanding Cali’s reasons for getting closer to their dad?
Probably not, knowing Elle, but I hope so because as much as it hurts Elle, other people are allowed to make choices that make sense for them. Elle should let go of the bitterness and forgive her sister.9.Were you surprised to learn Parker owns a castle in France?

Writing is super personal. It takes a lot of courage to open up like that, so, I don’t know really…11. Have you ever flown in business or first class? What was it like?
Nope, never. It’s also not something I’ve really wanted to experience.12. Did you expect Elle and Parker to fight harder for their relationship?
Everything in this relationship has been on Elle’s terms. Parker holds back because he fears she’ll accuse him of trying to control her (which she does anyway, no matter what he does). Elle can’t truly fight for love because, in her mind, wealth still equates to being morally flawed, yet she wants her “own wealth.” Makes me wonder how she would act in a relationship is the roles were reversed…13. After everything Parker’s done, do you think Elle will finally see she doesn’t need to give up on him?
I don’t even know. At this point I am just kind of over Elle — I guess it will take time. She’s VERY stubborn, and a lot of her problems start with her. But Parker’s clearly in it for the long haul…so. I hope he gets a massive apology. -

A: He’s in love with and he’s made it extremely clear with how he’s treated her and what he’s done for her. I love him as a character. I think he’s such a great main character. A: I think this is an extremely sensitive topic tbh. She was quite young, so I definitely understand her point of view however I do wish she had told Elle. A: I see Parker fighting for their relationship but based on how nonchalant Elle is about it, I don’t think he even thinks Elle feels the same way about him that he does for her. A: I don’t know tbh. She’s extremely stubborn and seems to be set on not even trying to maintain a relationship with Parker. It’s not a matter of whether it was fair or not; but a matter of how Elle needed to process what what happening and needing to cope in her own way.
I think that the friends Elle has made are the friends that she has missed and needed all her life. They are women supporting women and are there for each other no matter the situation. It shows Elle how things can be and you can invite people to your island and visit theirs. They don’t expect her to change who she is to fit in – they accept her.
Yes, Elle now gets the credit she rightfully deserves and sees the impact her stories have had on other people.

It’s simple: Parker is already in love with Elle. Elle just needs to catch up.
Cali was 15. It’s unfair to have asked her to carry the burden she did and no one expected her to know how to navigate that situation especially with her mom asking her not to. It may not mean that it was the best decision to make but she did what she thought was right at the time.
I think that it’s going to be harder for Elle to move past or understand anything when it comes to her father. Children experience parents differently.
I expect Parker to own everything he sets his eyes on.. to “diversify his portfolio”.
No, I don’t let them read anything. There was a time I’d let friends read what I wrote but it started feeling too vulnerable a thing to share. I did it anonymously for a while and that was easier. It can be a deeply personal thing.

Cali was just following her mothers wishes, it put a lot of pressure on Cali to keep a secret. I think Cali also knew if she told her sisterthe truth about her mom, she would quit college to come home at take care of her mom, which she did when she found out. If Cali had told her she may still be alive, so yes she probably should have told her.
