Thorn Season Day Nine

At long last, at the start of Chapter Forty-Seven, Alissa has the compass. Did you think this was too easy?

Did you expect Erik to find Alissa so soon?

When Erik says “I’m growing bored of this,” do you think it’s out of frustration?

Did you expect Alissa to find the strength to attack Erik after she collapsed?

What did you think of Alissa’s power once it was revealed we had only ever seen a small thread of it?

What do you think of Briar almost waiting for Alissa? Did you expect Garret to tackle Briar and save Alissa?

Do you think Alissa narrowly escaping the guards in Chapter Forty-Eight was convenient?

Alissa believes that Briar will kill Garret. Do you believe this as well?

What do you think of the last words Erik whispered to Alissa?

What do you think of what was revealed in the epilogue?

    1. A little, yes. It felt quick, especially after how long she’d been fighting to get it.

    2. Yes. He always seems one step ahead

    3. Mostly frustration. He hates losing control and not getting his way.

    4. Yes, but in a good way.

    5. Amazing. It makes everything before feel like just the beginning.

    6. Tense and emotional. I was glad Garret stepped in, and it felt like his redemption moment.

    7. A bit too convenient if you ask me

    8. It’s possible. Briar is ruthless, so the threat feels real.

    9. Chilling. It shows he still wants power over her, even at the end.

    10. Surprising, and it clearly sets things up for what comes next and leaves you wanting more.

    1) No. Not after she spent so long in prison and also she is really smart so it made sense that she figured it out. I did think Erik would have kept it in his possession the whole time though.

    2) yes. Definitely. It was inevitable

    3) yes. He is getting tired of her resisting him. He is used to getting what he wants

    4) I did not. I thought she would have been captured again.

    5) I knew that she had to be special. It was kind of expected.

    6) Briar has always wanted Alissa dead. I loved that Garret came to her rescue. I think he will always be that person for her no matter what. I also think he needed that for himself though. He hasn’t been able to stand up to Briar so this was his act of rebellion.

    7) It felt like there was a trap waiting

    8) yes. Briar does not take well to betrayal

    9) I think he believes in his own twisted way that he loved her

    10) I think they are planning on using weilder power to their advantage in a really cruel way. The second book is definitely going to be very interesting

    1. Yes, I think so. I think its a trap
    2. Yes, I did I think he anticipated her moves
    3. No I think it’s amusement
    4. Yes, it wouldn’t be a fantasy book if the heroin didn’t gain the strength to fight back.
    5. I was amazed and so excited because this is the moment we have been waiting for. We knew she had a different kind of power and that she was stronger than other weilders.
    6. I knew Garret would do anything to protect Alissa even if it meant exposing himself as a traitor
    7. Again yes, when it’s too easy it seems like a trap. I think they want her to lead them to the others
    8. If it comes down to it I think he will unless he can avoid it.
    9. It’s scary because even at the end when it seems she has the upperhand he proves he still has power.
    10. It was the worst ending becauuse now we have to wait for the next book!! Just kidding it’s amazing and i can’t wait to see what comes next.

    2. At the back of my mind yes but I was still shocked when it happened

    3. Yes definitely…. I feel like he sees her as someone playing hard to get and he’s tiring out

    4. It true fictional fashion yes but I still felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!

    5. It was amazing!! I felt so proud of her!

    6. I was so scared but thank god for garret!!

    7. Yes definitely a bit suspicious

    8. Briar is remorseless and cruel so I definitely don’t doubt it

    9. I wasn’t surprised. He seems like there’s no redemption for him

    10. I was shook!! I need book 2 immediately!

Q – Did you expect Erik to find Alissa so soon?
A – Yes, he always seems to be planning for all contingencies

Q – When Erik says “I’m growing bored of this,” do you think it’s out of frustration?
A – he expects everything to be as he wants and this is upsetting him

Q – Did you expect Alissa to find the strength to attack Erik after she collapsed?

Q – What did you think of Alissa’s power once it was revealed we had only ever seen a small thread of it?

    1) I must say, it did feel a little too easy… how did that even happen.

    2) I was hoping he wouldn’t – and that somehow she would have a clean get away…

    3) Anger and frustration – I think. I think he underestimates Alissa.

    4) I’m glad she did – I think she’s a lot stronger than even she realises.

    5) Once she learns how to use it properly she will be unstoppable – which makes me really wonder what kind of bloodline her mother was from.

    6) Briar is very vindictive, so I am not surprised she was waiting for her. I was so happy to see Garret save Alissa – but it makes me worry for him, he really does care for her.

    7) Maybe a little convenient!

    8) I am on the fence – I think the King will actually kill her and then punish Garret… to punish Alissa.

    9) It was more a promise than a threat – I am sure of it. He now sees how powerful she is and Alissa is now a threat to him more than ever before.

    10) This was crazy – I am so saddened by it – it seems they are experimenting on the Wielders. I am assuming they are trying to understand the power to either a) destroy it or b) harness it for themselves. Shocking. and I hope Marge survives it.

    1. Yes

    2. Also yes, I think he knows her very well so he’s able to anticipate her decisions

    3. He’s used to getting what he wants so maybe he is growing frustrated

    4. I do believe she is quite powerful so I’m not too surprised by this

    5. She’s clearly quite powerful and I cant help but wonder if her lineage has something to do with that (her mother specifically)

    6. I did expect Garret to eventually pick a side and seems like his friendship and the care he feels towards Alissa won out

    7. Yes it did seem convenient

    8. I think Briar is strong and vicious so yes it is possible

    9. It definitely raised some goosebumps! He really thinks he loves her (in his own dark way)

    10. I was shocked! The experiments seemed cruel and I am eager to see how this all plays out in book 2!

It did seem too easy yes! This has me worried – is it a trap!?

No, I thought she would of at least gotten somewhere or been able to give the compass to someone she trusts before being caught

I think it was yes – he wants her to understand something important

No I was very shocked she could even try – she seemed so weak

I knew she was special just not how special she was!

I was really shocked and I am so glad he always has her back no matter what

Yes it was a bit suspicious

Yes, I don’t think Briar really cares about anyone to be honest

It was terrible – he is so over-confident in himself – nothing can stop him – I hope isn’t true

The experiments are so horrible, just heart-breaking – I think its all about control and harnessing its powers for themselves or finding more ways to stop them for good

No I dont think it was too easy due to everything she had to go through with Eric to get to the compass

Yes cause he knew what she was actually looking for.

Yes because she had the upper hand due to her planning all these tricks on advance for another reason.

    I didnt

I wasnt really surprised because i expected her being stronger than what she is.

I wouldnt put it past her as shes had a hatred for alissa. I did however expect Garret to save alissa because he cares for her.

    Yes I think it was

I think she will if she sees no benefit in keeping him.

It makes me think he will do everything in his power to find her again

I was very shocked because i didnt expect king Eric to have alteriar motives for the hide aways. I also didnt expect Marge to be alive

    1) It definitely felt a little suspicious. After all the struggle and the time spent in the dungeons, finding it that quickly makes me wonder if there’s a deeper trap involved or if Erik is just arrogant enough to think he could leave it reachable.

2)I was really hoping she’d get a cleaner getaway, but Erik is so calculated that it felt almost inevitable.

3)It’s definitely frustration. He wants her to submit, and her refusal to play his game is clearly getting under his skin.

    4) I was actually shocked she found the strength. It was a great ‘hero’ moment

    5) It was incredible. We’ve seen hints of it for so long, but knowing we’ve only seen a “thread” of it makes me so excited for the next book

    6) Briar is so vengeful that her waiting for Alissa was no surprise, but Garret tackling her was such a powerful moment of redemption!

    7) It did feel a bit “plot armour” heavy.

    8) Briar is ruthless and doesn’t handle betrayal well, so I’m genuinely worried for him.

    9) They were absolutely chilling. It wasn’t just a threat – it felt like a promise.

    10) What a cliffhanger!! I need the next book asap.

    Ofc.

My reaction was on of amazement.

    Yes. Homeboy cannot help himself.

    Yes.

    I think he would.

Pull through Erik tell them what’s what.

    Again, unsurprising.
