    1. I love the variety of personalities as well as genders in the group. They are witty and have great banter with each other too.
    2. I think she would fit in well she already had encounters with each of them and seemed to handle it quite well
    3. I think she feels the need to protect him because he protects her
    4. No because then he will be seen as weak by Briar
    5. I thought it was hilarious because I suspect Keil knows she is a weilder but he is trying to keep up the ruse that she picked the lock with her hairpins
    6. I think she should have known all along that he had never wanted to be a hunter and only did it because he had absolutely no other choice the fact that she had only realized it after so long was quite sad for Garret since he was at the receiving end of her anger for so many years
    7. The fact that she assumes he chose to be a hunter or that he was inlove with her and wanted to protect her
    8. No I was shocked when it was Garret who showed up instead. I think this further proves that he only ever wants to protect her
    9. I think that they are being used because why are most of them “killed” int heir homes but here are so many of them being held captive instead? I think it’s suspicious
    10. I have no idea how he could have gotten out of the Oath perhaps he pledged loyalty to Briar and to ignore Alissa going forward?
    11. I was so shocked I thought there would be much less than that maybe 100s but not 1000s. I think many of them are misled because they have to remain silent about being weilder
    12. I have many theories on who could have potentially taken it but I’m thrown off with each chapter I’m leaning towards Briar . I fear that Alissa may be in danger with the compass being missing
    13. I was quite shocked at the revelation of her father being the one creating the list of wielders however I’m also not surprised because this could be his way of protecting his daughter
    14. Again I have no idea
    15. I think it’s for both their sake because they care a lot for each other and I know it hurts them to be on opposing sides while wanting to be on each others side
    16. Again it was surprising to know who her father really was but i still think he went through all of it to maintain the image of Hunter rather than a sympathiser
    17. I found it suspicious that Tari was at the palace without mentioning it to Alissa before hand unless she was “assigned” to be there by the compass holder. Erik’s hand in the chaos was not surprising at all however Keil being the ambassador was predictable but I was still happy it was revealed and not dragged out. As for Carmen I have my suspicions about her even though she seems friendly.

    1) I really like the banter between the crew members and I would love to know more about their backstories

    2) I think she would feel more at home with them than she does in her own kingdom.

3)I honestly understand it given their history. They’ve known each other since childhood and he has protected her countless times. He is also keeping her secret.

    4) I do, I think her father is resourceful and has the necessary connections to be able to do so.

5)I actually smiled so much throughout this whole interaction. I loved how she held her own even though she was in captivity. Him mentioning the lock again made me think that he knows she didn’t actually use her pins.

6)”He could have hit me in that moment, and it would have hurt less.” Garret recoiling from her sceptre made her realise that things would never be the same between them again, because they were no longer on the same side. It made me really sad because they were such good friends.

    7) Garret stood for everything she feared/hated and she was everything he was taught to hate and to hunt. They were literally fighting for different things.

8)No, I was really surprised especially because he was not in fighting shape when she last saw him. I thought he did it to save Alissa because he’s always tried to protect her even when she didn’t realize it.

9)I thought that the group of Wielders wanted to save their own from the wrath of the king and possibly strengthen their group.

10)I honestly had no theories at this point. I thought he made some kind of deal with Briar, or he got himself into an even bigger mess.

11)I think because everyone else was hiding too, they were afraid of being killed, and in doing so they basically helped the Hunters achieve their goal, because there’s strength in unity but if everyone is hiding their ability, then they’re all alone and can’t really form any kind of allegiances with each other because nobody knows who to trust.

12)I think that whoever took it is dangerous and they’re using it for their own motives, which could possibly be worse than the Capewells having it.

    13) I knew from the beginning he was hiding something but I was so shocked when I found out what exactly his role is. I was really disappointed as well, I could almost feel the betrayal Alissa was feeling.

14)Not a single clue to be honest. My only suspect is Lady Sabira, I’m wondering why she is constantly watching Alissa so closely.

    15) I was really sad about this. I think it is more for his benefit though. He has basically dedicated his whole life to protect her. All of his decisions lead back to her..I think she wants to free him from this burden and also free herself from the guilt of it, because so many other people have suffered in the name of Garret protecting her.

    16) Such an unexpected twist! I was so mad at him, but his explanation made me see things from his point of view and I actually understand where he’s coming from.

    17) I was glad Tari was there because at least Alissa had an ally. I really like Carmen. I like her strong personality and how she doesnt care for the stiffness of the other Royals. I like that she does her own thing and disregards the rules of court and just says whatever comes to mind.

    1. They have varied personalities. Their dynamic feels a tad forced because they don’t all seem to agree with each other but that maybe that does not highlight their true relationship with each other.

    2. I think she’d be okay but she’d likely clash with Goren and Osana – they all might need to earn each other’s respect first before they are able to gel.

    3. It’s a testament to their complicated history – she cares for him despite how he cast her aside and became the very thing she feared.

    4. I think if he did, it would be too easy of an exchange so I’m thinking he might not be able to?

    5. It was funny! I think he might suspect there’s more to her than what meets the eye but I don’t know if he outright suspects she’s a wielder!

    6. I think it’s kind of sad that they were thick as thieves and in the blink of an eye – it changed. When Garret asked her to never touch him with her spectre again, I think she truly understood in that moment that things changed between them forever.

    7. They evolved to Hunter and Prey – and that dynamic undoubtedly put a strain on any relationship they once had. Their beliefs place them on opposite sides of a battlefield.

    8. I didnt! It makes me feel really conflicted about Garret – because on one hand he’s harsh with Alissa, but on the other, he tries to save her.

    9. It was horrible – and probably a jarring realization for Alissa that people were also being tortured and kept prisoner!

    10. There must have been a loophole to his binding that we was able to work around.

    11. I think in an effort to make the wholeborns feel like the situation is under control and people are ‘safe’, the crown controlled the narrative.

    12. At this stage, I have no theories but it’s going to be interesting to unpack how hunting continues to happen with the object that is able to locate wielders!

    13. This really shocked me! I did not expect him to be involved at all. I understand his actions in an attempt to save his daughter but it is a heavy burden to bear.

    14. At this stage, also no. It’s probably another group of radicals who believe wielders are impure or evil.

    15. I think she says this for them both. To protect herself. To free Garret from whatever sense of obligation he feels to keep her safe and the guilt she also feels at what he’s gone through for her sake.

    16. Again, shocking! It makes sense when I think about the fact that he belongs to the Hunter Family but it feels like a huge betrayal considering his daughter is a Wielder!

    17. I love Tari and her loyalty and determination to help Alissa is admirable. I love their banter!
I also really like Carmen and her elegant but cruder nature! It was refreshing! I still think she might be a snake though since she’s related to Erik so time will tell!

It seems as if they are very close-knit as they joke around with each other and deadly

She is the opposite of them but I think she could hold her own considering how brave and defiant she is – taking risks is apart of who she is.
I think the bond of what they went through growing up is strong for both of them and she does care for him which is why she defends him.

I had thought he would because he seems to love and want to protect his daughter at any cost.

I loved the banter and how quick she was to come up with an excuse but he definitely knows something is up!

It seems she was in love with him – romantically or not – it was a love of trust and they wanted and believed in the same things.

That he chose to be a hunter and went against everything she thought he was.

No, I really expected her father to be there. I was really impressed with his bravery – it seems he really cares for Alissa.

It was sad knowing they had been imprisoned just because they were Wielders.

I had no idea – I was sure it was because he maybe had cut his hand off!

That was quite a revelation – seems they are hiding in plain sight. It was a bit shocking, all the deaths showed that maybe there were only so many left to be hunted.

Worried – it seems to be in the hands on someone much worse than the Hunters. I expect a noble or someone with a vendetta against Wielders.

No I truly trusted what Alissa had said – that he was on the ‘right’side and didn’t want to be apart of the murder and torture.

    I really have no idea!

I think for his considering what her father did. She doesn’t want him in danger ever again.

It was sad to see her hope and love and trust in her father be let down like that.

I liked the different story lines branching out but it seems like a lot can go wrong. Everyone is a suspect at this point!

A : I think their very bantery, they know each other for a long time.

Q : How do you think Alissa would fit in with this group of Wielders? If she was given the chance.
A : I think she would fit right in, she might be a bit shy or careful at first, watching their interactions and being observant but I think she will soon realise that their the same as her and will want that connection with other wielders.

Q : What do you think of Alissa’s need to defend Garret?
A : its honestly confusing because Garret is so hot and cold but I understand where shes coming from because they’ve known each other their whole lives, you dont just give up on your best friend.

Q: Do you think Alissa’s father will be able to retrieve the stolen item for Keil?
    A : No i dont think so.

Q : What do you think of Alissa and Keil’s final words at the end of Chapter Six?
A : im intrigued to find out what Keil meant by Alissas father is not as innocent as she believes.

Q : At the start of Chapter Seven, we get a glimpse into Alissa’s past. A : Alissa and Garret were good friends, looking our for each other but then Briar got her claws into him and it changed who he was with Alissa, and she realised that she might never get her Garret back.

Q: What do you think could have caused the two to become separated?
A : Alissa was a Wielder and Garret a Hunter this is what caused them to seperate.

Q : Did you expect Garret to come instead of Alissa’s father? What do you think of Garret helping to get what the Wielders wanted?
A : no i didnt expect it but i think there might be an anterior motive to Garret wanting to help Wielders..but I might be wrong.

Q : When Alissa walks towards the light of the wagon she realises something. What do you make of the wagon being filled with imprisoned Wielders?
A : it was a trade, give Keil the stolen wielders in exchange for Alissa

Q : How do you think Garret got out of his oath?
A : probably something to do with Alissas father but I’m not sure.

Q : What do you think of Garret revealing that there are over a thousand Wielders? How do you think Alissa was misled to believe there weren’t many left?
A : nobody spoke to her about it, she was always left out and it was kept from her to make sure she didn’t go out looking for wielders.

Q : We learn that the compass is missing. What do you think of this? Who do you think took it?
A : the compass is what tracks wielders so someone mustve stolen it who really hates wielders, I think someone close to Alissa might have it.

Q : What do you think of Alissa’s father’s involvement in the capturing of Wielders? Did you expect this of him?
A : not at all, I didn’t think he could betray his daughter like that.

Q : Do you have any suspicions for who the copycats could be?
    A : not at all

Q ; Alissa tells Garret that once they find the compass, Garret must promise to leave her alone forever. For whose sake do you think she says this?
A : for her own sake

Q : What do you think of Alissa’s father having the Hunters’ Mark?
A : it’s saddening to think her father betrayed her

Q : Alissa makes a stand and informs her father that she will be joining the Rose Season. Upon her arrival at the palace a lot unfolds. What do you think of the various happenings? From Tari being at the palace, to meeting Carmen and many more.
A : it was interesting to see everything unfold, Tari being there was a surprise and I kind of liked Carmen’s character but I don’t know yet if she can be trusted.

    – I absolutely love Keil’s crew; I was definitely getting Six of Crows vibes!
    – I think she would fit in perfectly with this crew, especially with Keil as leader.
    – Her need to defend Garret is because they know each other since childhood, so she has a soft spot for him.
    – I don’t think he will be able to…
    – I get the feeling that he suspects that she can Wield.
    – I think she realised that they can no longer be close once Garret becomes a Hunter, as he knows her secret.
    – They became separated because it was too dangerous for a Hunter to be close to someone he knows can Wield.
    – I didn’t expect Garret to show up, especially with how their dynamic was portrayed so far. I think he only showed up to get something for himself.
    – It’s weird that they would keep Wielders alive when they are sent out to kill them – is there a reason for this?
    – I think Alissa was the way he got out of it, as she was the reason he came instead of the king, and they had to have had access to the Capewell Manor.
    – That was surprising, as we were made to believe that if a Wielder is known, then they would die.
    – I still have no idea who took it, but I think it has something to do with all the unplanned killings that are happening.
    – I wouldn’t have expected that from him since both Alissa and her mother are Wielders.
    – I have no clue who the copycats could be.
    – I think she says it for Garret’s sake as a Hunter being close with a Wielder would not end well for the both of them.
    – I thought of Garret and how the same thing could possibly happen with him and Alissa like what happened with her mother.
    – I think this part was the most confusing since we suddenly got introduced to other characters, and we had to remember their family and their dynamics with each other, etc.

    1. They give off very found family vibes

    2. I feel like they have the potential to form a very close connection

    3. I feel like that comes from a place of protectiveness as they were always there for each other when they were younger she feels a sense of duty towards him

4.i feel like it will be hard but he might and there might be consequences

    5. I honestly love their banter. I find it so cute!

    6. I think that she is torn between younger Garret and current Garret as she does not feel like she knows where he stands any longer. The memories give her hope that maybe he’s still a bit of the boy she knew

    7. The very fact the he became a hunter. It was like a betrayal.

    8. I think it shows that he still cares for her

    9. It’s crazy. To show just how bad the extent of the hunting was. I think the graveness of the matter only suck in there.

    10. He definitely had to do something he didn’t wasn’t to or that’s against his principles

    11. I think I was just as shocked as she was. All along she felt as if she was alone and they were dwindling in numbers but maybe things aren’t as they seem

    12. I definitely think it’s another noble family

    13. I absolutely did not expect this from him. Though I can understand why he did it I’m still a bit disappointed in him

    14. I’m still a bit clueless but it’s definitely someone from another Noble family!!

    15. I think it’s more for her than for him. His behaviour is confusing to her and is bound to get the both of them in trouble

    16. I am absolutely shocked

    17. As someone who loves drama, I’m all here for it!! Though I’m really a bit scared for her seeing as she seems to have a lot more eyes on her now

Q – What do you think of Garret revealing that there are over a thousand Wielders? How do you think Alissa was misled to believe there weren’t many left?

    1. I loved all the different personalities and the banter. They kind of remind me of a certain high lord and his inner circle 😉

    2. I think she would thrive and fit in perfectly with their dynamic.

    3. I think it’s a natural instinct. Although they’ve drifted apart for obvious reasons, I think she’ll always have a special place in her heart for him.

    4. I don’t think so. I think it’s going to be much more challenging and complicated than simply retrieving it.

    5. I was giggling and kicking my feet if I’m being honest! I think Keil knows more than he’s letting on but he’s giving her the space to reveal herself on her own time.

    6. It made me quite sad. It’s obvious there’s so much love between them, whether it ever evolved past platonic or not. Losing a friendship like that is heartbreaking, no matter the circumstances.

    7. Garret became the very thing that threatens Alissa’s entire existence. He took on a role that’s supposed to be filled with hatred for Alissa’s kind. Anyone would drift apart if something like that happened, no matter how close they once were.

    8. I didn’t expect her father OR Garret. I was expecting some sort of trap, to be honest. I think Garret would do anything to save Alissa and that’s why he was willing to help the Wielders.

    9. I thought it was strange of them to keep Wielders as prisoners when they’re notoriously known for killing and sparing none.

    10. I think he struck a new bargain, or something happened that broke the original oath.

    11. It was a surprise to both Alissa and us as readers. I think there’s way more Wielders hiding in plain sight and we’re bound to discover more surprises.

    12. At this stage, I have no idea who could have taken the compass, possibly someone we haven’t been introduced to yet? Whoever took it, though, must be far more dangerous than the villains we already know.

    13. I didn’t expect it. From an outsider’s perspective, he did what he thought was necessary to protect his daughter, but from Alissa’s POV, the hurt and betrayal must have been devastating.

    14. Not yet. I think we’ll be introduced to them soon though.

    15. A bit of both. I think she wants him to stay away from her as a way to protect him from further harm and punishment but I also think she’s afraid of lingering feelings and the possibility of being hurt again.

    16. It was shocking. Yet again, I understand his motive but it doesn’t lessen the betrayal and hurt that Alissa must have felt.

    17. I really like Tari, and I’m glad that Alissa has someone she can trust close to her. I just hope she doesn’t end up betraying her.
I’m a bit conflicted about Carmen. I want to trust her, and she seems like a genuine character, but I’m a bit sceptical about her at the moment.

Love a little banter but I also feel that they don’t necessarily all like each other.

Honestly, not initially, I think it could evolve to them getting on after going through so hardships together.

One would think given his position, resources and connections.

I have mad respect for people who don’t back down even when their backs are against the war.

I was gutted, bc honestly I always want to see friends win and when they split a part and over things like this it ends me bc you can’t hate either for choosing the path they have.

No, I did not expect this. Think he cares about her still. It’s difficult man.

He got out of it out of pure stupidity, I’m sure. But Briar is defs involved in some way.

I did not expect there to be that many to be honest. I think wielders have been shrouded in mystery so its unsurprising but not expected.

    Surely Briar.

He is a girl dad. So I am happy about this turn of events.

No idea. But I think it will be revealed soon enough.

    More his than hers.

Plot TWIST! Did not see that coming!!! What a betrayal!

Trust no one, but love the banter.

    I didn’t realise Day 2 was out!

    1) you can tell they’ve been working together for a while and are more than just a crew. They’re friends too.

    2) I think she would definitely need to prove herself to the group in order to fit in with them.

    3) Of course she will defend him – he is her friend (and a very good, close one who knows her deepest secret), but you do get this sense of hesitation when she does. Because of his status as a Hunter.

4)Maybe – he does do all he can to protect Alissa.

    5) I had a good chuckle at the end of Chapter 6 – whether Keil suspects she is a wielder or not we can only guess, but I do enjoy the banter… I think he is also just trying to figure her out… of course, what noble knows how to pick a lock.

    6) It is sad for me that in an instant their friendship was no longer what it was.. and to lose your only friend so quickly in a way that threatens your very existence – she must have been devastated.

    7) Their dynamic can’t work, realistically. Him being the Hunter and her the Hunted, quite literally… it goes against his “belief system”, however brainwashed he may be… it can only end in disaster.. so that’s probably why.

    8) I actually did not expect Garret to come – I was surprised but also thankful because I don’t think her father would have survived.
I think Garret is trying to show Alissa that he’s on her side.

    9) That was a shocking revelation – it means they don’t kill them straight away right? Which is what I assumed especially after the beginning chapters – so they’re holding them hostage, but who knows for how long.

    10) He must have made a deal with someone or somehow broke it.

    11) I think that was an interesting reveal and it makes me wonder why they’re hiding it. If Alissa was misled, then so many other people are too. I am not sure if it’s to keep people from feeling unsafe or to make it seem like they’ve effectively eradicated wielders. or perpetuate the idea that wielders are not that strong.

    12) I’m wondering how they find wielders if it’s missing, and I’m not sure… I think maybe a wielder took it.

    13) This too was a devastating reveal – in one way you can understand that he was probably doing it to move any suspicion from Alissa, but the fact that she is a wielder herself, you would think he would want to help and not hurt other wielders.

    14) No idea who the copycats could be…

    15) Probably both their sakes – because the compass will eventually point to her and she would probably try kill him and he would be obligated to kill her (and it seems as if he still cares – I don’t know, I can’t get a good read on Garret)

    16) Surprising! Which then makes you see why he was helping to find wielders, but also a good way to disguise the fact that Alissa is one.

    17) I really hope nothing happens to Tari, she is such a good friend and character… Carmen was an interesting meet and I am intrigued to know more about her character… The meeting/dance with the king was intense

Alissa makes a stand and informs her father that she will be joining the Rose Season. Upon her arrival at the palace a lot unfolds. What do you think of the various happenings? From Tari being at the palace, to meeting Carmen and many more. I thoroughly enjoyed the ambassador reveal and I was like “I knew it”
