1. I felt kind of conflicted about it, to be honest. At first, I thought, typical Natalie, putting her kids last and herself first. Then I thought of it from the mindset of what if she was actually kidnapped: in that instance, taking any opportunity, no matter how mercenary it might seem, to escape is brave and commendable. Maeve would get more help, too, if Natalie could escape and direct emergency services back to her. It’s a rare moment when – given Natalie seems to genuinely believe she’s been kidnapped – choosing herself was probably the correct thing to do.
2. I think we’re just cracking the surface of how diabolical Natalie can be. When her back is against the wall, there is no line she won’t cross to get what she wants.
3. I believe Shannon was disillusioned early on by Yesteryear Ranch. She took the job thinking she had an opportunity to be part of something meaningful and found herself eyewitness to the truth behind the scenes. I don’t know if she took up with Caleb purely to hurt Natalie, throughout the book he’s described as a himbo, so I’m sure plain old sexual attraction played a role. Shannon seems still naive enough to believe his self-serving line of being manipulated by his Mean Wife and Mainstream Media. She has a bit of a saviour complex going on. I think it was an ‘it takes two to tango’ situation.
4. Shocked and not shocked. Shocked because even while ‘confessing’ her mother seemed willfully blind to how her lies and actions moulded her daughters. She is a huge contributing factor to why Natalie is as Not Kind as she is. Not Shocked because to be Born Again is a central tenet in some Christian denominations, so a transition into a slightly more liberal congregation, especially where it benefits her socially (her daughter is dating the pastor!) is what I would expect from her.
5. It really shows how out of touch Natalie is. Shannon went in and owned the narrative. She’s much more media savvy than any of the Mills family, even Doug and his countless advisors. Social media success didn’t enhance Natalie’s life, it shrunk her world to a comfortable bubble where she never had to be wrong… until it blew up.
6. I LEGITIMATELY thought the original house contractor built a time machine. I 100% thought Natalie had gone back in time to have a Scrooge and the Christmas ghosts-style reckoning of her choices. Maybe I’m as crazy as she is!

1. I thought it highlighted that Natalie still struggles to look beyond herself. Even in such a heartbreaking moment, her first instinct is to think about escaping.
2. Yes, I think we finally see a more genuine version of her. She seems less focused on appearances and more honest with herself.
3. I think Shannon definitely played a role, but I don’t think she caused everything.
4. Yes, I didn’t see it coming. It explained so much about Natalie’s beliefs and made me view her mother in a completely different light.
5. I found it fascinating because it showed how quickly personal stories can become public narratives. It also highlighted the power the media has to shape how people are perceived.
6. At this point, I believed she had actually been sent to the past. The story had moved beyond feeling like a prank and instead focused on how the experience was changing her.

In Chapter 48, we are shown how sick Maeve is. What do you think of Natalie turning the reader’s attention to her and her desire to escape? – It shows us how self-involved Natalie really is and that she is a complete narcissists. Her child could die but she thinks escaping is more important.
Do you think that in Chapter 49 we finally see the real Natalie? Or at least glimpses of her? – Yes. She worries more about herself and how she appears than what is actually going on.
Natalie comes to the realisation that Shannon has interfered with her perfect life in more ways than one. Do you think it was Shannon? What do you think her end goal was? – Shannon was young and she saw an opportunity to futher her career. I don’t think it was Shannon’s end goal but fro her this was a stepping stone and one she is going to use to her advantage.
Were you shocked by Natalie’s mum’s confession? – I sort’ve suspected something like this is going to come. This explains a lot of Natalie and her beliefs as well.
Shannon manages to get on prime time TV. What do you think of the segment? – Just goes to show that anyone will do anything when they are in the spotlight. Even though some of it was clear lies and exaggerated, Natalie did exactly the same.
As we near the end of Part Two, what do you think happened to Natalie? Do you think she was right in assuming that she was on a reality TV show or do you think she was sent to the past? – At this stage I still thought she was in some twilight zone of how her life could’ve turned out.

1. It just really shows us how self absorbed and narcissistic Natalie is. Her child is sick and needs help and her main priority and focus is still escaping.
2. Yes, we are starting to see more of the real Natalie. Her concerns are coming through in the way she questions herself and it seems like she is becoming more self aware.
3. Shannon definitely had influence but the cracks were already there from the way that Natalie treated people and how she made them feel. All it took was someone being nice to the workers and family for Shannon to be able to step in. However, I don’t think Shannon is to blame. All she did was see a story that she wanted to expose to up her career.
4. Yes, did not see that coming but it also explains a lot with regard to Natalie.
5. The segment showed us how out of touch Natalie truly is with reality and how the public can be influenced.
6. Reading till here I was 100% convinced she was in a hospital high on medication (maybe she lost the baby or she was giving birth) -
1.I think as the reader it makes you realise how self centred Natalie is even in such a terrible situation she turns it to somehow make it about her.
2.Yes! We start to finally see her care less about her appearance and how she carries herself. She also seems to be lying to herself a lot less which is quite refreshing.
3.Sharron may have played a small part but it wasn’t only her doing. There were a lot of things that Natalie had done leading up to this point to make people turn against her. Shannons goal was to disrupt Natalies perfect fake life and discredit her in someway.
4.I was so shocked! I didn’t see this coming. It explains a lot as to why Natalie is the way she is,
5.It makes you realise that anyone will say anything when they are put into the spotlight and I guess in a way that is also exactly what Natalie did.
6.I genuineley believe that she was sent into the past. At this point I can’t see any other reason than this being her reality and for her to learn to be better.
